Moneymaker makes me sick, who stays up all night drinking until 6am the night before the world series of poker? especially if you have to defend your title. He looked like a moron to me in WSOP 2004.

Lol he keeps saying it's because he doesn't want to risk it. But this is only making the size of the prize for him 50% less, so why doesn't he just buy in to a tournament that costs half the money and take 100% of the prize and not waste his time on Ebay? Maybe the answer is he really is broke.

MTTs are pretty much all i play, all day long, endlessly on Ultimate Bet. I have never once read a book on poker and yet my game continues to improve. The best way to learn something is to learn it yourself, so don't go asking what books are a good read. My advice to improve your game is to play the $5 buy in MTTs as much as possible until you see your statistics improving. Naturally you'll get better and better changing your play at the various levels of the tournament naturally without having to read what someone else thinks you should do and not understanding why. Something that I've learned when I moved from live poker to online poker is that it's a much different game. You describe feeling like you lose a lot of hands that you are highly favored to win and this is likely due to the fact that you play MANY more hands than you do in a live game. The speed of online poker increases the number of bad beats so it has a different feel. It's also difficult to get tells when you can't see someone. Sounds like your beat to me. Small blind is likely to have two pair or maybe even a set and with other players in the hand drawing to better hands, it might be best to lay it down. Did you ever get to see the hands?

Do what I do. If you are worried about losing money just play in the tournaments. Low buy ins, have big payouts if you get 1st and if you can at least make it to the money 1 in 2 or 3 times then it's a good investment. I started this "tournament only" strategy this month doing strictly $5 buy ins at Ultimate bet. So far I have won 2 of them making about 2K and placed in the money a bunch of other times. So the winnings are good and the losses are easy to take.

Busted means you took fill out of the game or took all the money he had at the table. And since this was a limit game and phil usually sits with around 5K because he's a hard ass. I don't think you really "busted" him. If you want to prove that you are a good player then we'll all see how you fair in the negreanu open on Tuesday. The pros like the tournament growing like it is. I read in another thread how it's better for them because there is so much more dead money and although it requires a bit more luck and patience, the pay off is far worth it.
