  1. Slumps are hard, no doubt about it. The important thing is to review your game play and figure out every possible place you could've earned more and lost less. You can't goto the table timid either, that's the worst thing for a bad run.... it'll kill you if you sit down with less than 100% confidence. If you find yourself having those 'ugh, I lost another $12 this hand man this sux" you are probably not in the right mental state. If you are in the right state you'll shrug it off and wait for the next hand you have. Also please make sure you have a large enough bankroll to be playing at the
  2. I'd definitely have to say Bellagio and the Mirage are the places to play, althought I have heard Caesar's and the new Golden Nugget card rooms are happening too. Also MGM has a brand new room [not sure if it opened yet or not] but the limits you are looking to play are definitely at Bellagio and the Mirage as I have played in them before. As for the NL question I don't know because I have only played in the $500 buy-in NL games in the past, though I am hoping to find out more about the NL games in the next week or so when I visit on the 20th-24th.
  3. I only play this hand from late position in an unraised pot. I will raise with it if suited as well.I don't like playing hands like this generally though because of the AJ potential or KQ potential.
  4. Didn't he lose a substantial portion of money with the online site he had going that had all of those money problems? I don't remember the whole story tho
  5. So I'll be in town next week and I am thinking about hitting a show one night. I have two that I've narrowed it down to for this trip that I have not seen thus far.1) O at Bellagio2) Pen & Teller at RioHave any of you seen any of these? If so, what were your thoughts?
  6. I'm gonna go with Dan Harrington. Actually not as much these days as he was before, but he definitely has a more rockish type table persona.Ledered has a conservative table demeanor but he definitely does not play tight.... That said he doesn't see nearly as many flops as say John Juanda or Daniel....
  7. Lol.Too bad you won't be in town the week prior.... I would come pay you a visit.I'll be in town the 20th-24th for a quickie.... Hitting up the Bellagio, Mirage and Bally card rooms, or if I can find a better NL game than the Bally one [was quite easy last time I went there]
  8. Aside from the obvious game change suggestions above, if you don't chang ethe game format [blinds, starting chips etc] I would definitely loosen up and see some more pots. Also raise more and knock some others not aware of the need to see more flops which th eblind structure as is.That said, don't play stupid-loose and overplay your hands. But don't be timid either.
  9. It depends. I've heard arguements both ways. One suggested that the variance is lower due to split pots and it being a game where specialization can make a huge difference [Men Nguyen with his 7-stud prowess for example]At any rate, I personally would say it would be slightly larger than Limit HE just because of the additional betting round and ability to bet double on pairs etc. Plus it also tends to see alot of raised betting rounds which could further add to your variance.I would bump the figure to about 500xBB - 650xBB for 7-stud hi/lo.... but that's just my opinion. I don't play high
  10. You should've been able to go all-in.... I'm a bit torn as to what the real rules are in this situation, but you should've been able to go all-in after the initial all-in bet.
  11. Make sure your psychological aspects are on point before you sit down at the table Munky. Have a big cold glass or water and workout before hand or something.... whatever that makes you feel alive and awake etc. Then sit down at the table and play some poker! The thing to remember is you can't think about the money. If you sit down like 'aww man I'm down 10 dollars already' you are not going to get outta the slump. So what you have to do is sit down, and not focus on the amount won or lost, just focus on playing solid.Do that and in a few days you should be out of your hole.
  12. You gotta play like it was heads-up! With the blind/ante structure like this you have to see more hands by default to make it worth it. That's the bottom line.I would never play there tho
  13. I play 4-8 tables of no-limit at a time. Generally four on PokerStars and four on whichever other site I am into at the time. I have multiple LCDs setup to assist in the clutter. I can generally space out the windows such that I can always see my cards on each quadrant of the screen and thus it makes my play quite quick and responsive and I can keep an eye on things [such as people stealing blinds and bluffing etc]It is more difficult to play NL than Limit obviously since it requires alot more attention, but I suggest a setup like I have above where you can see portions of each table in ord
  14. Yeh I see alot of this online. You will sometimes see this in live games but it's not as frequent because you can't behind the veil of any secracy. It is unfortunate. Usually the people who do this are people who are as uninformed as the person who made the mistake in the first place. When I first started playing seriously I was one of these people too.... I took my frustrations and lack of game knowledge out on them. Fortunately I learned it wasn't good for the game or my image, so I quit doing that fairly soon after I began playing more seriously. These days I see players berating others a
  15. Oof.... That's rough. Thanks for sharing your experience with us though. Hopefully the next time around it'll be better! GL!
  16. Tournament rulest are different however. Most cardrooms don't require you show all cards in tournaments, at least from what I have seen. Granted, that's only four or five casinos....
  17. Yes, the minimum raise is 1x the BB or previous bet. When hands are shown down you have your own discretion on whether you need to show your hand if you have lost. In addition you can just show one card in order to win.... Also in all-in hands you can show your handds face up once the call is made, or the same way as mentioned above.
  18. That's just part of online poker unfortunately. You play so many hands per hour you are going to see more frequent tilt moments; even more so if you are playing multiple tables.Bottom line is, if you can't manage your tilt moments at once table you shouldn't play multiple.Bankroll management is also more crucial online and explicitly so when playing multiple tables.
  19. Only on FullTilt where every pocket pair you have is always accompanied by three others with pocket pairs
  20. You're right. Nutbar is fun, but it does make it difficult to determine what your opponents are playing against you. In addition it becomes harder to determine bluffing's success rate because everyone wants to call you down.
  21. I always go with the play loose and crazy at first to skew your image and then switch gears and give em a pounding. Don't totally kill the game as you want to be invited back, but win nonetheless. If you keep switching gears they will think you were just lucky and sometimes you will be unlucky and lose just like they do. Thus, you will fly under the radar unless you kill the game every time.
  22. Hmm.... he might ahve put you on a pair of low 3's or 2's since you are in the blind. In addition, he might've picked up two pair, but if he had KQ he would've raised you on the flop, or tried to check-raise with the top two pair.I say he's got AQ or QJ.... I'd raise him all-in depending on his chip stack and depending on the number of players remaining etc. But for this purpose, I'd raise him double his bet which will keep him in the post most likely based on pot odds through the river. He may get lucky and hit something to improve his hand, but you should still have the best hand at this
  23. I'm gonna call. Need to win a couple of these situations along the way to get a dominant stack. However, there are instances where I would not do this, just depending on other relative stack sizes and how I know that player who moved in to play....
  24. Lol.... I love it. When he makes a move like that it's quite humorous.Hopefully he can get his stack back up. I don't have any doubts in my mind that he will though. Go Daniel!
  25. I will say that sometimes the wrong play can be the best option sometimes, the key is not to let this become a habit, and to know when those situations are in the first place. They won't be very frequent, but you should still be able to spot them.I think the best part about knowing you are progressing as a player is when you can objectively review your play and recognize where you made mistakes etc. This is a good sign
