I disagree with this given the BB can cripple us. If you raise to 400, SB shoves and BB overshoves then you are at best racing against two players with overs and crushed by everything else and can fold. Shoving on the button puts our stack unnecessarily at risk. I think OP played this correctly.

Multitabling so no real reads, no stats. Villain seems competent over about an hour's worth of play. I c-bet a lot, about 90% of the time. I've leaked a bit in calling too many hands so he may notice that if he's paying attention. After he calls the 3-bet pf, I'm putting him on 1010+ and AK. If I was the villain in this hand, I'm definitely not putting you on a 5. Turn raises and river bets are almost never bluffs at this level so I think the worst you are looking at is 10x or 88+. A river raise will probably be called by any slow played big pair so I guess this is a math question on whether raising is +EV given his range. I'm kind of nitty so I would probably call. I'm definitely not folding.

I thought about betting $1.80 on the turn but to accomplish what? Yes, charge the draws but am I going to get a relatively weak A to fold or am I going to get value out of a weaker hand than mine? It just kind of felt like pot bloating in a marginal situation. Any previous pf 3-bets from him that you remember? A 3-bet from the BB would be AQ+, 99+ most of the time (discounting doing this with air since I don't think that third barrel is ever J2o). You've played this hand pretty passively so does it make sense that he could be leading the river as a sort of blocking bet w/ 99-JJ, AK to either fold out a hand that potentially beats him (TT-QQ) or to avoid making a tough call if you bet?I agree that he's never getting KK+ to fold but this bet can fold out any hand QQ or worse.

I'm not sure you can count on someone on the button who flats a MP raise then flats a BB 3-bet to spaz off his chips. Seems like you have to bet something to get him to make a passive call down if he feels he has something to show down.

You don't want to be multiway after the flop so c/r the flop to get heads up. AA loses value the more players you let stay in the hand.

Call then minbet the flop...villain will be so confused he'll just fold.

Thanks for the replies. I bet 800 and he folded. I'm working on trying to get more value from my big hands. I don't think I was inducing this particular villain into doing anything with a draw or smaller pair regardless of how I played it because of his nature but I think for more aggressive opponents, I like looshle's weakish looking bet sizing option better.

Played it, cashed in about 2000 place. Not sure it was the most productive 2.5 hours but with a 29/1 ROI, I guess it's not bad.

Satellited in, is this just a crapfest where I'd be better banking some tournament dollars or is it worth playing?

Why no c-bet?

Villain was playing tight. I don't recall any hands that he had shown down and only remember him shoving his entire stack on a raise in a small pot on a drawy flop. To me, I read the donkbet, call on the flop as a made hand, not a fd. I thought at least a Q or K so I wasn't too worried about the fd. I had also been playing fairly tight and only shown down one hand, I raised in MP w/ A10s and c/c'd a 10Q10 flop, c/c'd a blank turn and checked the river (that was stupid, it checked down) so he saw that I had passively played a big hand.

Villain here is weak-passive. He rarely raises pf, never 3-bets, only seen him minraise after flop. The hands he has shown down have been quality (high suited connectors, mid to big pairs, no garbage that I have seen). At this level, I would almost include any two hearts but this range is reasonable, IMO. With this range, I can't imagine the math says call.

Just relaying my experience from anything .10 and below on stars. I rarely see the turn minraise and river bet with a weak J in this situation.

Sounds like a live game, I've never seen that big of a "fee" online. I have no idea what run-on means unless it means the tournament is "run on" Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays or something like that.

First, I love Cobalt's posts because I always learn something. I probably call the river because I talk myself into believing the minraise is 10J, QJ, KJ when in reality this is a flush or FH 90% of the time. I play the small stakes on stars and I lose hands just like this because I fail to understand that a bet on the river is probably never worse than a flush.I think he had 66 or xhxh.
