  2. To the guy who didn't like Positively Fifth Street... That book was great IMO because it reached well beyond poker--and while it is sort of a carbon copy of the fringe journalist memoirs genre it is not in the least pretentious and McManus (thats his name right?) is definately the most capable writer I've come across in any poker book. Poker Nation was pretty good. Has anyone read Amarillo Slim's book, and does he only have one or are there two?
  3. theres always the sound of a slowly playing banjo lilting in my head.please, please make it stop... please?
  4. My momma always said my IQ was perfect just the way it is. Then me and Pickles would go and catch fish down by Old Man Thomas' Barn. And Pickles would call me a dummy. Thats the summer that Pickles fell in the pond and he drowned and went to live with the angels.
  5. Keanu voice=best part of my day... thank you for that.
  6. also I'd guess that closer to 20% of my posts are in response to you.
  7. which douche clown exactly? Absolute? he's actually very funny, but he is a big city softy... I think living in South Carolina--the requirements for mere survival amongst the scary redneck rabble are such that one's wit is honed to a crisp edge and is always at the ready.
  8. are you the whole majority? how'd you all fit in there?perhaps they should stay silent?
  9. I'm sorry... we should take this very very seriously. Are you kidding? Whats the point in posting this doomsday bullshit about an online forum? This place is 1. a good way to get poker advice 2. entertainment. I love to read good poker advice and there are plenty of people here who give consistently good advice. I also love to read idiots with an apparent fifth grade education flame each other... its funny. The only thing I think is absurd are people who get emotionally involved in the forum... "We should hold hands and stroke each other and promote forum peace, and be very very serious". Are
  10. Its funny how posts repeat themselves... I've only just now been a member long enough to see three cycles of "Oh no! the forum used to be perfect, but now!!!! its all over!!!!" then everyone talks about that for awhile then apparently its perfect again, but soon... "Whats happened to the forum!!!". I think this phenomenon is funnySecondly, did you know?1. Internet Poker is Rigged2. Smash is the worst member ever3. Seriously its rigged4. Smash is the best member ever5. I always fold pocket aces preflop
  11. As I understand his question it deals more with creating the false appearance of correct pot odds than it does with the actual scenario he created (he even said he made the hand up off the top of his head). I don't think he's looking for advice about which hands to play heads up or for an analysis of pot odds in realtion to heads up play. So re-read the question with that in mind.
  12. you missed the point of the question... and I have had the same question for awhile so here's a bump so someone smart will read it.
  13. The more complex your thinking becomes the more difficult it is to distinguish between what is pure math or pure psychology. When you begin to assign number values to things like: possible range of hands for my opponent, you have combined statsitics with intuition (or experience... which proves statistics). Psychology and math are two different ways to describe 1. experience and 2. expectation. A really solid player IMO begins to blur the lines between these two. That is why some people have a problem with Sklansky or Brunson (or whoever you think represents either side)... they each see the n
  14. The thing I find funny (I only read the first two and last pages so this may have been said already)... is that people apparently believe that there is some inherent good or integrity in the game itself. Poker is a game where you take money from someone else: friend, stranger, or little girl playing way outside her bankroll. There are many reasons why personal integrity can be important (without even having to get moralistic, you may value integrity), but you need that integrity intact in order to continue to get games. There is a certian degree of trust necessary in poker. However, there will
  15. What if a really agressive baboon was playing in a game with a well disciplined can of soup? What if the soup was explosive soup? What if the baboon was very smart, but just couldn't get a tell on that crazy can of chowder? You can't refute my examples because Einstein was smart and so I must be smart too. No one listened to Einstein either... Except then they did and now he is synonomous with intelligence. What if the baboon had sunglasses? I AM THE KING I AM THE KING NO ONE SHALL STOP ME EVER!!!!!!yes, yes, my pretties worship me... kiss my toes ohhh! lick my toes! Also yes, bazooka always wi
  16. I understand your point, but you have been misunderstanding what is meant by "the nuts". It is the best possible hand given your hole cards and the board because for the purposes of the game this is all the information you will ever actually have until that information is no longer useful. Your example with the board of AAK and your holding of AK ruling out quad aces is very insightful so I realized that your own hole cards had to be added to any definition of "the nuts". However, for the original problem there is no way to disqualify trip queens as the nuts because you either have them or som
  17. Hey now BigD you know I love the Krablar more than most... Hey what do ya know I got one more post!
  18. The original Krablar post was one of the funnier things I've ever read on here. Its not hurting you, is it? Did I rent it shoes? Is it taking your ****ing turn?
