  1. don't play at school, play at someone's house where you can just hang out and have a good time. make it a good environment and have fun(and food/drinks). more people will be willing to play for more money if they enjoy themselvesor you canmove to vegas and play in my home game. the youngest player is 16 and the oldest player is usually around 20 although sometimes a few older friends sit in.lotta $20 nlhe tourneys with sporadic .50-1.00 limit gamesbesides, the weather is better here.

  3. is Beal the guy from texas challenging the pros to play headsup for ultra high stakes? i vaugely remember some sort of letter CP printed a few months ago.
  4. has anyone used a dual-monitor setup? seems like it'd be perfect.
  5. wins and losses...for tax purposesgetting an audit SUCKS. "No no no, it's a foreign car, the T is silent."anyone get the reference?
  6. dealers in las vegas make minimum wage but are taxed at the highest rate. they make the bulk of their money from the tokes(but the deal with the IRS means dealers don't have to declare their income from tips)! Pretty sweet deal. As long as you can deal fast and accurately, the money's good.
  7. QOPH technically isn't in the English language(it's a Hebrew letter)...I don't think it's playable. I CHALLENGE!

  9. Sigur Ros is great for calming down after bad beats.
  10. Turn the topic a little. Who is your favorite poker player and why? Now we have something. The best player question is right up there with the meaning of life quandry. Stick to what ya know.
  11. when you get to vegas you can sit in at my home game!
  12. I did enjoy the 100 person $1 buy-in n/l tourneys early this week. Too bad my gf dropped by to surprise me BOTH afternoons(don't think she likes poker afterall). 15min blinds are manageable. More tourneys like these will definitely bring people in. Not to mention $500 added. Guess PM understands "gotta spend money to make money."
  13. don't forget so if he thinks i think he has this hand, what would he do in his position?
  14. Okay, if your cushy position leaves you so desperate to find ways to kill time yes i suppose it's not such a big deal to play poker on the job. but anyone with a serious job within a well-managed company shouldn't risk it. My summer work as a "client acquisition specialist" didn't allow me the luxury of playing poker on my computer for plenty of reasons. I definitely savored the idea, but...1. overamped micromanagers stalked the cubicles all day2. telemarketing came naturally and $15-30/hour was fine by me, whereas back then I SUCKED at poker. I knew blinds, but what the hell were antes
  15. go there on wednesday morning signup is day of tourney. i suggest the 10am(get there at 8am to signup) satellite if you go for the friday tourney. 240/1000 isn't much better than 130/500, but cashing in the friday tourney would yield a bigger gain. Now if you can afford to enter both, do it! Then treat yourself to some incredible pizzas from Villa Pizza. Best in Vegas.as to the expansion of the bellagio room...$4 million dollar improvement! i hear rumors like "mini buffet." i particularly like the savvy marketing decision to re-open ONE DAY BEFORE the Wynn room.
  16. the best formula would be 75 words max explaining why daniel should take half an hour out of his week to tutor one lucky fan about one specific poker concept.winner gets five minutes on the phone
  17. i've always operated under the assumption that if you're opponents are getting bad beats against you more often than you are sucking out against them...you are playing well. i remind myself of that everytime, and it keeps me from getting too discouraged. 8) my mantra is...live well, play well.

  19. solid post. reiterated many good points.i recommend the Roy Cooke article in Card Player called Poker As Life. it's good stuff.
  20. modest mouse, creeper lagoon, feeder, 311, flogging molly, rhcp, 3rd strike, 12 stones, ocean colour scene, incubus and for fun i turn Boyz In the Hood by Dynamite Hack really loud.
  21. when i'm tired or angry or having gf troubles i tend to stay up to the wee hours playing limits i shouldn't and i handle it by not making myself pour over the hands and reread the good poker books. regroup, calm down, then hit the tables again.honestly though, if you don't have the patience to nuture your bankroll you increase the chance of it withering away no matter how well you play. it's a discipline thing. getting bored and jumping to higher limits is indicative of bigger issues.
  22. congratulations man. whenever you drag the largest pot possible, you've played the hand correctly. good job.
  23. i think this situation is commonly referred to as "getting stuck" you make a complete hand with a beautiful draw to boot...now you're forced to stick around by the pot odds, despite the scary turn card that definitely helped someone...the river comes, but doesn't improve you...but pot odds force your hand.not to be confused with getting stuck for a buck...losing $100 in a session.
