  1. Poker Room skinLimit Holdem Ring gameLimit: $2/$45 playersConverterPre-flop: (5 players) Hero is BB with UTG folds, CO raises, Button folds, SB calls, Hero calls.Flop: :D (6SB, 3 players)SB checks, Hero bets, CO raises, SB folds, Hero 3-bets, CO calls.Turn: (6BB, 2 players)Hero bets, CO calls.River: (8BB, 2 players)Hero ??I was hoping by playing this as aggressively as possible I could get a fold. Could 3 betting flop and then checking turn be a better play? Or just call down and hope to get 2pair, trips, or flush?
  2. unless he's a maniac, I'm going to fold this a large percentage of the time. Blinds are really low, you have a great stack, he just represented a very strong hand and I'll give him credit here. After the flop though, I'm pushing.
  3. ugh, he's an odd player if he's willing to go all in w/the flush instead of value bet.by all means he could be thinking "i have a flush - if i go all in, he'll call thinking it's a bluff"You have to call here. This play screams more of bluff than flush or boat.I like the turn check btw, it induces this type of play on the river.
  4. yes.the only hand you're worried about is pocket 10s and the chance that he flopped the boat is soooooo low. He'd have to be one incredibly tight rock for you to let go of JJ on this flop (cuz you'd assume he had aces or Kings)You were destined to go broke here. You did the best you could and unfortunately the cards poo poo'd you here =(
  5. true actuarybut there are certain risks I may take at the lower level. The way villain played it just seems fishy. He could very well have a set, but I don't see why he doesn't re-raise the flop. Granted I am curious but there's also a good chance he has an open ender or a flush draw as well.I believe Bully Poker to be incredibly essential to the SnG game. in SnG's, it later becomes a Chipstack war, not really about skill anymore. The key with SnG's is to not be emotionally involved in fear of losing. Had villain re-raised the flop all in, I would give him credit for a set and throw the ha
  6. how is 3000t not important at this stage? You have a stack to gamble and pressure others. It's not all about buying blinds PF - you have the opportunity to take down decent size pots multiple times. You can push the turn if you want, I like making them pay extra to see the river card. We dont' know for sure that the pusher has a definite monster here. There are plenty of hands he could be pushing with, including KQ or QJ for that matter - which are hands that are not out of CO's range.
  7. I respectfully disagree - it's really not a bad play at all to simply call pf. 1900 does not suck at this stage. You can't just categorize everyone as a donk - what's wrong with assuming UTG has concepts of M? From what OP has said, it looks like UTG does have a concept of M, you have to give him credit for it.UTG has played TAG throughout the SnG until he was shortstacked, then he made his all in plays. Now he has 2600 chips and isn't pushing anymore, instead he's raising 3bb utg - I don't like pushing here. The most important rule to tournament play is to stay alive. He's in fine positio
  8. I call3k in chips is too temptingIt's a sit n go. Your life doesn't depend on this, if he has a set, you bust out - he could also have AA or KK here.whoever said that CO couldn't flatcall pf here w/kk and AA, this is a pretty good example of why flatcalling pf works. It's disguised very well.I don't see him having a 2 pair here...funny guy if he called a pf raise w/q2 in a $50 dollar sng. He's either got set, flush draw, or he's making a play with 6,7/pocket pair.Call - you're the boss here - if he doesn't have a set here, show that you're not going to be pushed around. You're willing to gam
  9. I'm surprised I'm saying this, normally i would say push as well but...I like calling pf instead. What's he raising with utg? Probably at least Ax if not pocket pair...I think he's definitely going to call your pf push. He could definitely have AQ though...in which case a stop n go works nicely. Here's what's bothering me though, he obviously knows to push with a shortstack. I'd assume that if he has mid-pocketpair he'd push since he's utg. I could be over thinking it but I wouldn't be surprised if he had at least JJ here.to me stop and go can be more profitable here and safer - i really don
  10. the key is to flop the nuts or suck out on the river for a dramatic effect =/
  11. lol gli plan on trying out noblepoker's $50 10man for a bit this summer
  12. It's not that bad of a play, he's only in really bad shape if he gets called by AA or KKanyhow, i was thinking about this play some more and I actually like calling better, but I'll give an argument for pushing latercalling:losing 350 if u miss the flop isn't going to cripple you in any way. Calling also disguises your hand a bit and incase it's heads up, you have position on the chip leader.if you make your flop, or have a monster draw, you stand to triple or quadruple up depending on the action. That's why I like calling, the potential to triple up.Pushing:you mentioned the leader has been
  13. ok but as you move up the limits in short handed games, wouldn't you encounter more people who are either as good as you or better? I'd assume bigger swings as you move up, no?
  14. btw, better not to post hand results until laterknowing the results may change our responsesThat's a REALLY tough spot to get away from, especially since u have an overpair but, for next time, realize that you raised utg and the small blind re-raised you.in theory1) you have to have a big hand to raise utg, and 2)sb has to have an even bigger hand to re-raise the utg player - so that should immediately send signals your way.
  15. nope, unless your instinct is wrong the majority of the time :Dseriously though, instinct is very important. You've been playing for 4 months right? If you haven't had that moment yet, there are times where a voice in the back of my head screams NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO or BS!!! CALL!!! and sometimes I don't listen and go ahead and make the play only to find that to my satisfaction, and dissatisfaction, that the voice was indeed correct.Bottom line, you have to trust your gut. There's also a cardplayer interview w/phil hellmuth, recent one, where he talks about some hand at the wsop where instead of
  16. zebra, and this is not meant to be offense to anyone, I advocate playing your style the way you want to. I disagree with the people who've told you to fold preflop. Granted 150 chips is 10% of your chipstack, but given that the blinds are pretty low, he has a big enough chipstack to take a few gambles. Just because plenty of books advocate playing Tight Aggressive does not mean it is the best style - look at the whose forum we post in!!! Daniel Negreanu isn't exactly your tight ABC poker player. Every style has its swings, it's a preference of choice. You will lose playing tight aggressiv
  17. You can play it either way since you're suitedI'm fine with the play you made, you don't have enough chips to have real mobility. Let's say no one else calls and it's just you and him, the pot will be 850. Bet flop 600~850, leaves you with about 2k in chips. Not a very fun situation at 50/100 so you're pretty much going to push the flop anyhow.I also like calling here though because your hand plays well in multiway pots and you can push if an ace hits or if you have a monster draw, and if everyone folds, let's say you had 3 pf callers - u just earned urself a little more than 1k in chips
  18. i'm pretty sure they had negreanu on as a guest for that ep
  19. hmmmalright, i'm gonna play a few thousand hands at 2/4 short handed before I take on 3/6.I'm a winning player at 1/2 and 2/4 limit in ring games...so, any books I should read about short handed lhe? I read the section in advanced hold'em by sklansky
  20. geez, so what's the required broll for playing short handed limit? 500 or 600bbs?
  21. search on twoplustwo for gigabet's posts or look somewhere on my blog where I posted the links for Gigabet's important articles. What are the blinds? Blinds and Stacksizes are the two most important factors of a tournament. (i'd prolly call him btw - that hand depends on your read on the guy and pf action). Example: 4k chipstack - huge at 20/40 blinds. Small at 400,800 blinds. Get it?I'm really bad at summarizing and explaining but I'll give it a shot:You're always going to lose chips, even when you go in the best of it you're still going to lose once in awhile. So the goal is to amass a
  22. how much bb per 100 hands are you guys earning for short handed lhe?? If it's not too rude to ask
  23. I advise starting at 1/2, even though u have a 3/6 bankroll.Just play a few thousand hands at 1/2, then 2/4, then attack 3/6.I put in $500, played some .50/1 limit, then played 1/2 and have since worked up my broll that way. I learned a lot playing 1/2 limit hold'em and didn't notice a big difference between 1/2 and 2/4 - except that the swings are higher.Would you rather lose 100bb learning limit hold'em at 1/2 or at 2/4? I'd much rather lose $200 than $400 :)Post a lot here, lots of good limit advice. And keep asking questions, don't be afraid to get flamed by some punk for asking a "stup
  24. hey all, I didn't know where to post this question so this part of the forum seems pretty logical.I was wondering what the hype is about short handed hold'em? Do you guys prefer it because it's more fun since you see a lot more hands or because you're making more BBs per hour playing it (assuming you're a winning player) ?
