  1. Then you didn't attend any of the World Series games between the Mets/Yankees. That was an experience I won't forget. The thing that may prevent it from being such is that it isn't really universal. Games between the two teams only matters to fans of them. When the Yankees/Red Sox play, something is generally on the line like a trip to the World Series or first place in the AL East.
  2. And yeah, it was Rose. The answer to your question now addams...The actual answer is probably some guy from the 19th century, but I'm going to say Julio Franco, who stole one around 45 or 46 years old.
  3. Mets/Yankees. You can feel the energy in the Stadium when they play each other. Almost knocks you out cold.
  4. David Ortiz doesn't even play defense, which by default makes him one of the worst all-around players in baseball.
  5. Wasn't that supposed to be the answer to my player-manager question?
  6. He should be Apollo Creed in Rocky IV.
  7. To note: I folded this hand at river. I also came back to win the tourney as well.Opponent showed me Ad Th, which gave him the higher flush on the river.
  8. AJo is not that great of a hand. It can too easily become the second best hand and you'll be forced into calling all the way down to the river, which could cost you an additional bet preflop that may not be all that effective.I think you should have called the check/raise. Otherwise, I think you played it right.
  9. Should have either raised or folded preflop.I normally don't play middle pairs that aggressively unless I have a draw to a better hand. But I guess it could go either way.The calling the turn and river either states that MP3 is a donkey or was chasing a draw. Something tells that the ace on the river gave him top pair and he has you beat. I predict that he's got AK
  10. I'll ask the next question?Probably an easy one: Who was the last player-manager in major league baseball?
  11. When you get four to a flush by fourth, you're going to complete your flush 47% of the time. On fifth, you also got a straight draw, but I think you're going to need a club to win. With the pot so small and three of your clubs already dead, you have six outs and two chances to hit a club. On top of that, if seat four has an ace in the hole, he has the higher flush and you're drawing dead anyways. Even if you hit the ace, his cards below the king are higher. Definite laydown at fifth.

This episode was on last night or two nights ago.I don't recall the names, but the surfer dudes were selling cardboard surfboard and the nerds were I believe selling pocket protector cleaners.
  13. Heads-up with only two overcards? I raise the flop. The SB bet on the flop could be a steal attempt. If you get called, odds are you're beat and I'd probably fold if I don't improve on the turn.
  14. You folded a 12.5 BB pot because you had to call 1 BB? The only feasible things that beat you were another jack or an overpair. For 1 BB, I see the showdown.
  15. Three bet the flop and then call a cap? That's pretty gutsy. I don't think I could put three bets on a flop where I merely have a draw that may not be completed at all.You got really lucky to nail the nuts on the river. With four players (yourself included) to the river, I figure at least one will bet out (unless they're all on busted draws), so I'd go for the check-raise.
  16. I think this guy may have paired his kicker on the river. The raise on the flop wreaks of the guy definitely having an ace. However, it looked like he would've preferred to take down the pot right there. The check back on the turn gives that away to me. With TPTK on such a weak board, I would've definitely bet at least 3/4 the pot on the turn to guarantee getting more cash in the pot with the best hand and possibly taking it down there. At the river, you have to make a crying call if you think you're beat. If this guy paired his kicker, he probably won't hesitate to push the rest of his stack i
  17. Dan the Man:The Psychology of Poker is an outstanding poker book.I was running cold cards and bad luck for about two weeks and started losing a good amount of my bankroll playing. I stopped for a week, read The Psychology of Poker, came back and started winning money again. It's not a poker strategy book by any stretch of the imagination. It evaluates the motives of different types of poker players and why they do what they do.Another good book to read along with it is Mike Caro's Book of Poker Tells. They both fall into the same vein.-------------------I have a fairly weak collection of books,
  18. A quick note: In micro-limit and low-limit Hold'em games, most hands should be played straightforward because in general opponents at those levels are not sophisticated enough to be "trapped" or deceived in the first place. After all, you can't trick a blind guy by creating optical illusions.\Checking when you should bet is -Ev and you just missed a chance to get more money in the pot when you have the best hand.
  19. I can't find the actual hand history for it, but I remember it by heart.End of a sit and go and I'm heads-up against a guy who's been really tough: easily the best player at the table. He barely has the chip advantage over me (around 7,200 to my 6,300 chips)Been going at it heads up for a while with really no progress. He's been raising with most of the hands he's been getting. He's first to act preflop and just calls the big blind (blinds now 200/400 no ante)I get dealt 9 7 and check.Flop: ace 7 3 I bet 3/4 the pot (600) and he callsTurn: 9 I bet 1200, he calls.River: king :heart:I bet
  20. Did you watch the WSOP 2004 ToC? Yeah, he didn't get lucky.
  21. I don't know. I can sort of understand the two AQ chasing. If I don't pin any of my opponents on having a 7 or a pocket pair, then I would think that my ace high hand is best. I'd probably raise on the flop if I was AQ, hoping to take down the pot right there. If you were to call, I'd be leary of a pocket pair and probably fold the turn if I don't hit an ace (or queen...though we know that all queens were already in the hole cards).A2 I simply can't believe. Stupidity.
