  1. If the other players were ultra passive, then capping the flop probably wasn't the best play. Usually, the guy who gets in the last raise ends up being the first to bet on the next street. Reraising the flop worked out better than you could have hoped, but if you stop there, the BB leads out and you can charge them double for the turn. You probably could've eaked out a few more bbs. On the flop, you capped it, making it 2bbs per person X 4 people in the pot = 8 total BBs and everyone went into check and call mode after that, which means 4bbs per round X 2 rounds, =8bbs +8bbs from the flop
  2. Actually, I really don't have a problem with either. I think the U.S., for once, has the correct stance on a controversial issue. Porn is free speech, but it shouldn't be in your face. And it really isn't at this point. You can go your whole life without seeing porn if you choose to. There are proper warnings on the internet (well, for the most part). And the porno magazines are usually in the back and covered. There can be a decent case made that gambling is bad for a society, as it tends to screw poor people, but welcome to the world we live in buddy. Fast food and TV screws poor pe
  3. Hang in there. It was just a year and a half ago that I was at the same level and I definitely empathize with your situation. Can I humbly suggest that maybe the reason you're on such a bad swing is tilt due to these ridiculous suckouts? I know most people won't ever admit that they tilt....ever, but it's probably happening to some degree. If you're fairly new (less than a year of continuous play) then you're probably more prone to some minor tilting than you would care to acknowledge. To be honest, it's tough to avoid even for a seasoned veteran when you flop a nut straight and some mor
  4. Neteller is great. It's especially nice for people who have those right-wing whack job banks or C.C.s that insist that your money can't be used for immoral gambling. Give me a freaking break. The first time I heard a friend couldn't wire his money from his bank into a poker site because of moral reasons, I felt the strong urge to vomit. Give your withdrawal 3 or 4 days, but it'll definitely go in without any problems and no fees.
  5. Play more. Several online sites have heads up formats for very cheap. It doesn't really matter the amount you're playing for, get in there and try to figure out somebody. If you are bad at heads up, you're missing out on a bundle of money in MTTs, where the difference between 1st and 2nd is very significant. With that said, heads up is more about your opponent and his tendencies than your hole cards. It's hard to make top pair in a ring game, so imagine how hard it is with only 2 people seeing the flop. Most of the time, neither of you will hit anything on the flop and in that case, the
  6. Oh lord. The money you lose in this situation alone means you're a losing player. The OP should ignore this and everyone else should for that matter.bless his little heart though Yes, it was a cute little post.....unbelievably wrong, but a good effort at rattling the brain and hoping something wise comes out. I'd shake it a few more times. :-)

  8. If your a living off playing online, You should.Maybe. But the statement certainly gets much more ballsey when you're playing freerolls and thinking this. Money changes EVERYTHING in poker. I played my girlfriend a few nights ago in a free game. Her knowledge of poker is limited and her experience, well, nonexistent. She beat me 2 out of 3 games. Then we decided to put a few bucks on it. I won the next 4 in a row (and promptly gave her back the money). My point is, even if you are an exceptional talent, how the hell would you know? You don't.
  9. These type of posts happen so often that I think we should ask Jayweb. if it's possible to get an 'arrogant teenager' disclaimer written below each of these posts. That way we could all know immediately what we're dealing with. Top 95% huh? Poker is my primary income right now and I don't have the stones to say something like that.
  10. I read Killer Poker Online and I can sum up his 200 page advice into one word: focus. Yep, that's pretty much it. Don't get me wrong, he's a great writer, but if you're looking for great advice, look elsewhere. Vorhaus is great for a laugh and some novel-like reading. Not great for your game, however.
  11. Ahh, I'll miss JFarrell's stupid posts. As for Smash, I'm kinda baffled that he doesn't post anymore. Doesn't he usually make some big production out of his leaving? And it's followed inevitably by his return. A guy like Smash leaving without getting the attention he so very much needs is, well, odd.
  12. JFarrell left? When did this happen? And for what reason? That guy was the heart and soul of this forum...I loved his posts. I also haven't heard from Smash in a while, did I miss something?
  13. For the many of you who read the "You're the best...around" thread, you should read this blog I found a while back. It's pretty funny and adds even more to the legend of the OP in that thread. Enjoy!http://mcginlay.nakedfella.com/0035_pretty...boyactors.shtml
  14. Best post ever. My side hurts. If this OP isn't a teenager, then I'm giving up trying to read people at the tables forever!
  15. Apparently not. Just have some money to waste, I guess.
  16. If it was a spade draw, the turn 3 bet has me baffled.
  17. Yeah, I may isolate with it, but it's rare. In short, the guy I'm isolating will have to be a psycho for me to consider this a +EV move. Yes, definitely a missed bet, but my instinct is to check the river here too. With all the action on the previous streets, you are thinking that the only logical answer is that one of these guys hit a set on the flop or turn. The problem with that thinking is that many of your opponents don't think logically. You and I may only have a very small range of hands in that instance, but the other guys (you know the guys that don't read or take the time to p
  18. Easy fold. Not sure why you're even second guessing yourself on this one. Don't be results oriented. You made the proper play for the information given. In fact, if you took down that flop, I'd say that in no way should you even be thinking about the WSOP. Muck and move on.
  19. I think it's an OK limp, but I hate playing it out of position. There are those on this site that believe raising KQo anywhere is correct. I disagree. Knowing your read on the button, I like the way you played the flop and turn....pretty deceptive and it took advantage of the aggressive nature of your marked opponent. And bet the river for value here. Yes, they could have set up on the flop, but betting is better.
  20. Yep, 40% is correct. Take your profit and divide by the amount invested. This is THE stat to pay attention to when playing SNGs. I played in them for a few months consistently and had a 34% ROI. I then quit SNGs, because I realized a Limit cash game has much more potential earning. But, go with what you're comfortable.
  21. From my experiences, this is all but saying that he had aces. It's the natural conflict of decent guys in poker. They want to tell you that you made a nice play, but don't want to give their play completely away. It's pretty much what I'd say if some guy folded kings face up to me. Usually when I have AA and guys ask me what I had, I say, "I had an ace." I'm not lying, but then again I'm not telling the whole truth. The point is that I'm fairly certain from what I read that the guy had aces.
  22. I agree with the OP. I really don't see too many hands that a decent player would play so aggressively. TJ Cloutier says that in NLHE, "The 3rd raise is like ivory snow.....99.99% pure aces." I've laid down Kings preflop once in my life and I was showed Aces after I mucked face up. I folded for 2 reasons. 1. I had played with the player, had a good read on his style and had NEVER seen him limp/reraise. 2. The amount of the reraise was absolutely huge, indicating Aces to me. I actually believe that laying down kings is correct in this rare occasion, but I wouldn't make a habit out of it.
  23. A Suit: Heart 10 Suit: Heart . I raise to $3, not wanting to overdo it ....He raises to $10....Everyone else drops like flies and I press my luck a little by raising to $25.Goodness, what makes you think you overdid it? Was it possibly by reraising preflop with a mediocre hand after another guy showed strength? Yeah, that could be it. Stick to play money.
  24. Phil proved he's a very solid heads up player. The problem is that it's been forever since he's gotten to that point in a normal tourney. In the past few years, his skills in getting to that point have fallen pathetically short. Best in the world is a bit of a knee-slapper to me. That's right a knee slapper. :-)
