there's no crying in poker!

Recommended Posts

"Bing Wang was apparently confused following the last level of play. The break was scheduled to be 30 minutes, but Wang thought that it was a longer break for dinner. An easy mistake to make, considering a dinner break was announced, but for a different event also going on in the Amazon room. Wang has not returned to his seat and the tournament directors have made the decision to blind him off until he returns. The player sitting two spots to his right, Andy Black doesn't think that is fair. As a result, Black has asked the tournament directors to stop play until he returns. The ruling stands and Wang's chips are being blinded off. In an effort to help Wang out, Black is stalling and taking a very long time to do anything. Andy Black is visibly upset with what is taking place, and it appears that he is shedding a few tears."I mean, make some friends, but you can't be crying in poker. Also:"Some of the details are unclear, but about fifteen minutes ago at the Featured Table, one of the female dealers was quietly crying as she was replaced by the next dealer. Upon further investigation, one of the players at the final table was apparently being very critical of every mistake. According to Greg Raymer, it wasn't the content of what he was saying, but how he was saying it -- every criticism sounded like a spit in the face. If you took a transcript of what he said, it wouldn't appear to be very bad. But if you had to listen to it ..."Don't make the dealers cry either!

I'm a dealer and yes there should be NO DEALER delaing a featured table making mistakes. One mistake is excusable, but it says she had MULTIPLE mistakes..... I for one am also AGAINST dealer abuse, but good lord if I was that far into the WSOP and a dealer is making many mistakes and exposing cards and flipping over cards ( almost 100% thats what was happening )...I would be flipping out as well.

dealer abuse is almost never warranted . she could be a good dealer who was having a bad day. the cards could have been exposed by a breeze in the room . dealer error is no excuse for behaving like a six year old or using threatining behavior

If she didn't want the players to behave like six year olds, she shouldn't have been dealing like a six year old. :club:

Also, I read an event log somewhere (I think it was cardplayer, so take that for what it's worth), but wasn't the featured table averaging a hand every 4 minutes or so? I mean, if you're making multiple mistakes when you're only dealing 15 hands per hour, I'd get pissed too.

Very stand up thing to do, but why was he crying? Was this a good friend of his?
i think it probably had more to do with the fact that he felt it was a disgrace to the WSOP to have a player make it so far and get blinded off on a stupid misunderstanding. kind of goes against the whole spirit of the thing.

Being rich or about to be rich is often all it takes to act like a 6 year old. What do you expect out of adults playing a game - a request for a dealer change? C'mon, that's down right reasonable.
