Fellas, if you have a daughter who's a 6 or 7 with big boobs, and you can't get her lazy ass to move out of the house, dress her up as princess leia, ship her off to comicon, and let some computer geek get his hooks into her and take her off your hands.

It's not great television, but it's on the rung below. One of the iterations of the girl is one of the more disturbing characters put on TV. Only a 10 episode season, you can get through it quickly.

So I've been watching The Sopranos from the beginning the last couple months, up to season 4 now. I'd watched season 1 about a decade ago and had maybe caught an episode here and there since then, anyways, great show (obviously). It's a shame the actress who played Tony's mother died partway through season 3, she was my favorite. Just watched this scene, hilarious.

I've seen The Sopranos probably 15 times for each episode I would guess. When they showed the edited for regular TV version on A&E a few years ago I used to watch regularly as well I watched when they were first on HBO/ TMN in Canada.

I also just watched the whole series on demand from start to finish over the last 5 weeks and it's still great and it's one of the few shows that no matter how often I've seen it before I can enjoy watching again.

I wonder how much Tony's mom dying in real life pissed off the writer/creator of the show. The show was basically about their relationship. I was about a Mobster with mommy issues going to a shrink, that was the whole hook. Only Tony dying in real life would have been worse for the show. I think the writers/creator did a good job of recovering from the death, and filling in the hole it left with other story lines. But I wonder how the show would have been different had she lived.

Alan Sepinwall self published a book this year (last year?) called "The Revolution Was Televised." It's sold pretty well--I was able to get it from the LA library. It's good, and talks about why certain shows, show runners, etc. are so influential.

Sepinwall was one of the first critics working for an established newspaper, who maintained and cultivated a Internet presence. He's been a professional TV critic since his 20s, and now has 20 years of relationships to draw on for this book.

I really liked the David Chase interview--I felt like I understood some of his creative process, especially when compared to the Matt Weiner section. Chase talks about Nancy Marchand, and his relationship with therapy and his mother. It's worth a read.

Celebrity culture has ratched up so far, I think now is the time for a reboot of jesus christ, superstar. I think R. Kelly would make an excellent judas.
