SuperJon 175
JamesHere's all the series I have from DC. I think my main focus at first should be Mathemetics and the Eightfold Path videos.Do you think any of these series are outdated or not worth watching?
KingJames 11
All of those series are good... I think you should add a few;PLO with whitelime and in collaboration with Galfond... anything with galfond in it is awesome obvDear FoxwoodsfiendMovin' on Up with foxwoodsfiendA few of the DC shorts are really good; jk3a on the math of 5-bet bluffing with 100bbs is good for when you play aggro regs or when you move up... fenderjaguar also has one where he takes some unconventional lines and I think his thought process/explainations are good/coolSpeaking of Fenderjaguar... Never tell me the odds is a great series bc Krantz is a beast and they play mind to high stakes and between them bouncing ideas around I feel like you can take a lot away from itShowdown at buffalo ridge is WoT and JK3A doing the same range based analysis but with HU instead of 6max and they are good at poker so just listening to them is gootAnd tolerance, pokersense, 8fold path and the other mental series are all very goodNo wonder I never used to play hands... watched too many videos :(No I just watch football and do hw
SuperJon 175
Yeah, I think it's about finding the balance between studying videos, reviewing hands, and actually playing hands.I've had a 6 month sub. that ends in a few days, and I've watched less than 5 videos since I've had the membership, hence why I'm d/l so many series to watch. Thanks for the suggestions. Just not sure I could watch a 20+ part series. Well I could, but I probably wouldn't finish until next year. Were there any episodes that stood out to you the most?

I'd say just d/l a handful and watch them independently bc while they follow FJ's progress each ep covers different topics and stuffI played pokerz today and won money... almost robusto on the month... doubt I get to even 10k hands this month as I've been busy with other stuff but hopefully I get to 6-8k or so... SuperJon 175
So I've always been pretty horrible at math, but I'm really trying to learn the poker maths. I made a little Excel spreadsheet for EV Calcs, and I'm pretty sure it's set up right. I'm just really stupid, and am having a hard time with what exactly goes in each cell. I mean, I think I'm doing it right, but I keep second guessing myself.Basically, here's a HHAnd here's part of my spread sheet. The part I'm confused on is the Win and Lose cells. My thinking is that the "Win" should be whatever the total amount in the pot is after all the betting is done for that street, and the "Lose" is whatever villain calls, or I call if the roles are reversed.
SuperJon 175
Ok, changed my mind on the Win cell.Should it be (total pot size) - (amount at risk). In this case, $6.44 - $2.34 = $4.

trystero 0
imo you should add a range, not just his hand. your equity against his probable range is considerably worse than 40%.
SuperJon 175
imo you should add a range, not just his hand. your equity against his probable range is considerably worse than 40%.Oh of course. I was just simplifying it for this one example. My main concern is what amount I should be putting in the "Win" cell.As for my equity being considerably worse against an actual range. I think that's only true when his range is just the nuts I mean against his value range (66, TT, KTo, KTs) and semi-bluffs (JQs, JQo, and flush draws), I'm still around 36%Edit: I know I discounted KK from his value range, but I just think if he's gonna limp, then he's probably limp/raising. XXEddie 0
$110 @ "2/5" last night. I put 2/5 in quotes because it was a pretty pathetic 2/5 game. The same guy runs a 1/3 on friday nights that is bigger. Everybody (except me) bought in either 200 or 300. Like WTF? Do we need to make this 1/2 for you nits? Was up about $150 early on when I had K8 in the sb. Board came K758K. I checked the whole way (IT's A TARP!!) to the same guy who bet turn and flop. River he bet like $120 leaving himself $180. I shoved and he folded semi-quickly like 'oops'.Then lost $300 or so with 32s in BB. Flop 732, checked to BTN who bets 20. I made it 75 he flatted. Turn K. I bet 120, he calls leaving like 30 behind, so I put it in dark. River is another K (FML) he has 88. Eventually got tilted from that + all the stupid nits sitting with $200. Like, seriously you can't ****ing play. If they raise PF you almost can't call with anything. It's either fold or 3bet/get it in. Was able to grind back a little bit and get out just a $110 loser. When I left (after about 6 hours) the average stack with probably about $450. For future sessions. Would it be best to buyin $300 or so since everybody else did? I see little point in buying in more when they are all going to be nits. I almost don't want to play again but a lot of them were just rich, polo-wearing, preppy kids who played super aggro/spewtardy.
KingJames 11
Yeah, buy in to cover or max and just keep an eye on stack size and adjust ranges accordingly; ez game albeit less "fun" bc of lack of post-flop play... def suggest they just play 1/3 or 1/2 imo

XXEddie 0
Thinking more and more about buying straight into the HPT. Depends on how the next few weeks go at cash. Here is the ME schedule....Day 1 flights A and B are Thurs/Fri (29th/30th) @ 4pm. I work till 3pm both days, and I don't want to rush up there. So those are a no.Flight C is Saturday @ 7am. Uh, puke right? I'd have to either get a room up there or leave at 5:30am. Also, I couldn't play 1/3 that night unless I want 3 hours (or less) of sleep.Flight D is Saturday @ 4pm. Only con in this is that Day 2/Final table is Sunday. Play starts at 11am, FT starts at 5pm (they say). So I wouldn't way to play super late Saturday and all day Sunday. This would be the logical choice though, no? I still need to call and figure out structure/starting stacks and if each Day 1 flight is playing X level or what...

I still need to call and figure out structure/starting stacks and if each Day 1 flight is playing X level or what...In the past, each flight plays a certain number of levels and then combine on Sunday morning.I played Saturday night and we finished around 11:30; bagged and got our stuff for the next day and was on my way home around 1230 and i slept from like 2-830 and then got up there at 1030 for the 11 restart... I did think getting a room would be smart but I was poor so I just drove home.FT starts like 30 minutes after they get down to 6 players; they need to add teh make-up and do the interviews so they can show you on tv...The $360 satties are super soft and with 20% of the field making the ME I'm sure you'd be able to get in in 2 tries... so pick a day with a couple satties running and then hit it up
