Can Someone Answer This Simple Question For Me?

Recommended Posts

If somebody clearly says that they "bet 1,000", and another person raises, can the initial bettor then say that they werent gonna put the money in, or if they state it do they have to put the money in?I think they definately have to put the money in but im not sure

Verbal declarations are binding. So if you say raise and dont put any chips in yet and the other player yells Im all in then you still have to raise but you can pick any amount still. Happend on the WPT Final table once

When in doubt, go ask Robert7. A wager is not binding until the chips are actually released into the pot, unless the player has made a verbal statement of action.8. If there is a discrepancy between a player's verbal statement and the amount put into the pot, the bet will be corrected to the verbal statement.9. If a call is short due to a counting error, the amount must be corrected, even if the bettor has shown down a superior hand.http://www.lasvegasvegas.com/poker/chapter13-14.php#14

I was at the Bellagio last week and a very interesting ruling came down at the table next to me. The play got to the river and one of the players went all in. All he had left was a wad of $100. The player asked him two or three times how much he had in the roll and each time he responded 5k. The player called. When the money was counted he had 9k. Obviously the player who called only wanted to put in 5k. The floor came over and said he had to pay the full 9k. I find this ridiculous that a person could lie about their stack and still get paid for the real amount. A buddy of mine witnessed something similar awhile back and actually asked the floorman "What if the guy had a few flags under his bills?" The floorman responded that the calling player is responsible for all of it, including the flags. It's the player's responisbility to know exactly how much the other player has. Kind of a pretty sick angle shoot if you ask me. Kind of off topic, but it's pretty gross how you can be rewarded for being a POS in a casino.

Another reason why hundreds shouldn't play. The all-in player verbally declared all-in and then verbally declared the amount which was FAR different than his actual bet. sucksI'd be pissed at everyone involved; the other player, the dealer, the floor and especially myself.

I was going to say, make sure to have the dealer count it out, but I also vaguely remember that the dealers are not supposed to touch any of the $100s that are in play, is there any truth to this, or am I just hight?
