MapleLeafpoker 1,462
The other surprising thing is that the NHL franchise will have their arena at MGM, which is where Wet Republic is. You would think mgmt would have found a way to keep the whole thing quiet, unless there's a lot more to the story than what's being reported so far. I know half the team was in Vegas partying, including Doughty and Martin Jones. Its actually not at MGM, its sort of across the street and a little south. Think after NYNY, Monte Carlo, but before City Centre. It is its own stand alone space, wont be tied to a casino. But it will be right beside Shake Shack!!!
serge 904
As a soon to be resident of the Las Vegas area, I will defend my new city as expected. The notion that this can only happen in Las Vegas is ludicrous...Players have done, and continue to drugs in all places they can party..Thats including every major city like Toronto, Montreal, Los Angeles , New York , Dallas.. I have several friends in the night club business in Toronto, and I have numerous stories of players doing drugs in their establishments( sure its second hand, I have no proof, but I m sure it happens) Lot of NHL players have been either charged with or rumoured to have used cocaine and other drugs...and most of them not in Vegas. I would actually think its less likely players are going to do stuff in Vegas, with all the extra security and cameras in the casinos.

I think I read that somewhere. I can't wait to see the Sabres play the Aces on some future Vegas vacation.

pezeveng 207
Looks like Pitts media is a bunch of baffoons as well. Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford had it out with Pittsburgh Tribune-Reviewcolumnist Rob Rossi, who has been one of the GM's staunchest critics this season. Rossi shared his account of the tense interaction in his column: After exiting a media elevator and while walking with other reporters to the Penguins' dressing room, Rutherford addressed this columnist, a frequent critic since his hiring last June, in an obscenity-laced diatribe. “Thanks for your support,” Rutherford said repeatedly. “You're a (expletive) jerk,” Rutherford said repeatedly. Rutherford followed the jerk comment with a suggestion to “go sell ice cream now,” then a challenge to look him in the eye, which I did while explaining my role as Trib Total Media's lead sports columnist. doox 15
I support Rossi on this. Rutherford is the buffoon, here. After ****ing the cap up as much as he did, Rutherford should expect some heat.
serge 904
I m reading reports that Eichel and Hanifin havent officially said if they will leave college and play in the NHL. Could that change their draft status?
ajs510 122
Maybe Hanifin, Buffalo will take Eichel no matter what. All it would really change is our strategy for next year...if he's staying at BU for another season, I'm parking Reinhart in Rochester for the year, no question. Get another top five pick, sign Eichel, start our ascension to domination in 16-17, win the 2018 Cup.

Academically you need to stay 4 to make a difference. His game seems to be ready now

iBeaver 409
Wonder if Stamkos is injured. He's been invisible this series.
digitalmonkey 929
If the NHL used this "playing injured" thing as a full-blown marketing ploy I bet there would be more Americans interested in hockey?

I think it's like a 5% chance that he doesn't sign right away...Terry and Kim will give him the full-on Pegula Treatment and woo him right into the fold.

When this is brought up. Everyone is on ballot. The finalists are the three top vote getters.

I never knew/noticed that...always assumed they were the nominees but you're right, every reporting says "finalists".
Dubey 1,035
how exactly is it "wrong"? It would be equally wrong if stone, Ekblad or Gadreau weren't in the final 3. Forsberg had less points and points per game than Stone and Gadreau, and what Ekblad did as an 18 year old defenseman is probably more impressive than any of them,
Dubey 1,035
I also don't see a functional difference between "nominee" and "Finalist"
