Damon, Matt 0
to start this hand I had $50,900, my opponent had me covered. He went by the name Teddy KGB4 playersMatt Damon is dealt Ac 9cblinds are $100/$200CO folds, Matt Damon raises to $600, SB folds, KGB callsFlop, As 9s 8c.KGB checks, Matt Damon bets $2,000, KGB calls $2,000.Now ive flopped a monster and want action. Against most players, I'd make a weak bet, hardly bet at all, but KGB is too smart for that. So I have to overbet it, make it look like a steal. After his call, my guess is that he was on a flush draw.Turn, 9h.KGB checks, Matt Damon checksThere's my money card, the 9 of hearts, once he checks I check behind in hopes KGB hits his flush.River, 3sKGB bets $15,000, Matt Damon.....?I have $48,300 in my stack now. rkard 0
In Rounders 2 I share a prison cell with Matt Damon, cept that his name is no longer Matt Damon. It is prag.Matt Damon busted Teddy, went to WSOP and got knocked out, because as he soon found out, not everyone eats oreo's at the tables. That and you play the damn cards as much as you play the players... In his despair he busted his whole roll to some whackjob named Farha, whos motivation behind preflop pushing 52s on Matt's aces was "Lets gamble.. and donk the river! <3 this skillgame"From there on out it was a downwards spiral, then I handed him the lipstick.. What do I do?I just smooth call. Teddy KGB is too smart to be chasing a flush getting only 2-1 on his money. the pot is roughly 20k, + you're up 18,300 from your original buy in. for a nice payday over doubling your BR.smooth call, win and head to the Mirage.its also a safe bet since you dont hold the nuts, and would still leave Up 3k if you lose to AA. Swift_Psycho 1
My memory might be a little off, but I'm pretty sure you only made it $500 pre-flop, Mr. Damon.
TraptSteve 0
Ok, since you are even posting this I'm to assume this is a bad beat(in which case you're in the wrong section). Anyway...Question - would he call a large reraise here with just a flush? He played this hand extremely passively until the river, then bloats the pot with a gi-normous bet. I think you're lookin at AA

David_Nicoson 1
Spades isn't going to pay off a push. Eights full of nines or nines full of eights might pay you off. The problem is KGB's overbet represents a boat in itself, so even those hands might fold. If he's bluffing with TJ, then a raise does no good.So smooth call.I hate KGB's smooth call on the flop, by the way.
Zach6668 513
IMO, they both played the hand awfully.Standard reraise pf vs a "position raise" should be done with way less than AA.The bet sizes were just stupid the whole way too.Pot is like $1000-$1200 or whatever on the flop, and Mike bets $2000, and thinks KGB is calling with a flush draw? Please. The hollywood check on the turn is cool though. :PRiver push is awful vs a decent opponent.
TraptSteve 0
American Popular Culture to Steve......I'm hoping you're just extending the joke here......otherwise you gotta get out more.I thought Teddy KGB was the villan's screen name and "Matt Damon" was likewise, albiet borderline obsessive.(i was going along with the jopke)FYI, i think my next online poker screen name is going to be "Fox Mulder". :)Wonder if FTP has an avatar that resembles him

pkr_emprr 0
Anyone advocating just smooth calling the river is nuts, even if its based on the size of McDermotts bankroll. He could have taken a second away from just thinking about the TAJ to put KGB on a hand and create optimal river strategy, which would still include pushing the river; all things considered. TraptSteve 0
I push the river as well to be honest; with the second nuts on that board, I tell KGB to show me aces full. The smooth call preflop might have been made with 8-8, considering how passively he played the hand pf and on the flop
pkr_emprr 0
Why?Good question.KGB can call with a worse hand.*I don't feel like pressing the back button on my browser and i can't find the original board but i do know the main point of the board was this:A 9 9 8 4 (8,4, whatever, they were lower than the 9)Someone tell me that KGB couldn't have played an 8 9 this way.Someone tell me that KGB couldn't have been playign a pair and a flush draw and runner a boat. (edit: oops, that scenario is impossible, but there are still a number of other scenarios i was just trying to give some)Someone tell that KGB couldn't be slowplaying bottom set. Now, if KGB is playing any number of these hands, and they check/check the turn, and KGB leads the flush river, McDermott we'll assume is going to push all in with what range of hands. I would venture to add in a sick bluff; although unlikely because he put KGB on the flush draw and it hit, so would KGB fold to a paired board even if holding the flush, mike obviously assumed not due to how ecstatic he was when the flush card hit and thats what he put KGB on the whole way (look how he called his read of KGB, and look how KGB wanted McDermott to veiw his hand, Mike thought KGB had a flush draw, that was the read however elementary it was) THats leads us to believe KGB could think that michael thought KGB was playign a flush draw, meaning if mike pushes with the nut flush (which he might not do and might not be optimal, well it is optimal if he trusts his read,), or then would def push with any boat, so now, in this context, mike does have the 2nd Nut Boat , and based off how they both viewed eachothers play the whole hand, and their respective hand ranges, I would say that mcdermott has to push this hand, and ...long story short, like i said above,KGB can call with a worse hand.2nd Edit: My simple minded answer also: *4 HANDED* *Second NUTS*
