Ever Lose 2k Or More Then Wish You Had Bought Something Instead?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I now I'm going to get flamed huge for this but when I'm running bad, sometimes I wish I had bought something with the money instead of losing it. e.g. nice watch, plasma t.v., new laptopI know, I know, a good player doesn't think of money in his bankroll as money but just as working capital, but still...

It's human nature to think this way.I always think about what I could have spent it on and I am sure that others do as well.

I've never lost 2k in one session, but after every session I go 500 or so into the red i think, "damn I could have bought a xBox 360, or a new set of irons, or 25 lapdances..."

I jumped up to play $5/10NL cash games this week and made some good cash in only 3 days. I went right out and bought a 42" plasma before I could lose the money! I have had the chance to withdraw before and go spending but I always missed my window and ended up donking off the cash. This time though...no chance. TV is already on the wall!

Royal, you know my castle is always open for business. Just keep me away from those damn blackjack tables! They eat away at the bankroll for sure. After this weekend I am free and clear for some more Niagara debauchery.

The nice thing about online poker is that it's not really money in your hands. It's just buyins or big bets. Online is truly a great way to keep your BR seperated from your actual money.I have never lost money and thought about what I could have bought with said cabbage. If I did, then I'd be playing with scared money. When you find yourself thinking about how this bet is a new pair of shoes or whatever, then you should drop down a level or 4 and make your bets a fast food value meal.

That's not even fair. 1k is chump change to ivey. I wouldn't friggin set 1k on fire. I'd burn a 20 dollar bill, maybe a 50 but not 1k. That's just crazy talk. and yah, I do care about 1k.

I mostly play live, but I also feel it is vital to separate normal savings from your bankroll. I siimply opened a second checking account at my bank and square it off after each live session. The added bonus is since I started the year off with $5,000 in the new account, I always know exactly what my bottom line is (since my last computer died, my session tracking has deteriorated to pen and paper... I keep procrastinating setting up a new excel spreadsheet/access database for my session tracking.)

i find myself doing this quite often... illl have a good session online up a couple hundred or so and ill go out and spend it on the GF and be very generous when im with my friends cause the money didnt seem to matter at the time..."hey screw it, i just won 500 bucks in 2 hours...we'll go out to eat and ill pay for your clothes." but then the next day i go on a bad run and then regret my careless spending the previous day. stuff like that is obviously gonna happen in poker and you cant let it affect you... keep grinding
