From Full Tilt's chat....talking about Daniel and his views on the WPT lawsuitPhil Gordon: but, as a friend, I really wish he'd stop and think before posting what appears to be an influential blog. He has my number, he could call, but he didn't bother.79DTFBALl (Observer): Phil do you watch Daniels Blogs?Phil Gordon: yes, occasionally79DTFBALl (Observer): you watch the one todayPhil Gordon: yesPhil Gordon: and it did not make me at all happy79 DTFBALI is not me first off, but maybe DN and some of the "Seven" should all get together sometime and have a talk about the issue? Rather than having all this public trash talking, just settle it in private? I mean the last thing Poker needs is bad press, so why not settle it in private rather than publically lashing out at one another? Just a thought.By the way, so some of you don't get the wrong impression, Phil Gordon didnt slam DN in any way or call him any names.

i dont think phil gordon did anything wrong - hes just like daniel, he states his opinions. Its not like he pulled a raymer and called him names... I think that if more of the 7 get involved or if raymer keeps talking smack that it could spiral out of control and be very bad PR.

From what I've read, I don't think Daniel is looking to spend any more time with Annie Duke (Puke) than he has to. Because of that feud I know he and howard Lederer have spoken some words as well. But I think Daniel should get together with Hachem and Gordon, that sounds like a good time :club:

There is nothing wrong with disagreeing. Phil doesn't agree with Daniel, Daniel doesn't agree with Phil...no big deal. That's what is great about America, you can choose to not hold the same opinions about something and there is nothing wrong with that.I see exactly what Daniel is saying and think his thoughts are right on target, but it is also okay for the SEVEN to have their opinions as well.I look at it like this: DN vs. Raymer, DN vs. Gordon, DN vs. King Kong, SEVEN vs. The Superfriends (remember that show) didn't make me lose one bit of sleep last night.

I don't see why the 7 pros who filed the lawsuit care what Daniel has to say. Does Daniel have any impact on the out come of this lawsuit? Of course not! They are afraid they are going to lose and come off looking greedy. Now that really is a lose lose.

Let´s say that you and a group of colleagues filed a suit against your employer because you felt that the current conditions you are working under are against the law and workers rights. During the lawsuit one of your other colleagues who happen to be close to the employer is very vocal about how ungrateful you are and that you should shut up because you are hurting the company you all work for.Do you see yourself being happy about this colleague who uses his right to voice his opinion, or would you and your peers be pretty pissed off at him as you feel he is betraying his colleagues and not showing solidarity with his group? That being said, Daniel has every right to say what he has been saying if that is what he feels, but it is quite understandable that "the 7" isn´t too happy about it.

Maybe the Seven should have gotten together with all the major pros and sat down and discussed it instead of filing a suit and doing it on the behalf of poker players instead of assuming this is what everyone wanted. I don't care whose opinions are right and wrong, and the name calling is making all parties look bad, but I will agree that the Seven could have proceeded with this in a different way than they have.

If you look at the specifics of the lawsuit, this is not a class action - i.e. in the name of ALL poker players. It is only these 7 that are suing. They do not claim to represent anyone other than themselves in the lawsuit.I agree that the whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but I think the VAST majority of people have no idea that this lawsuit is occuring and would care less about it even if they did know. Although, I, like you probably, live and breathe poker every day, most people don't.

I dont think you can argue with the reasoning for the lawsuit, to try and get more recognition and rights for the players. But if it turns into a public bashing of each side, then it does more harm than good for poker, an already touchy subject in the public eye.

I'm all for the poker players getting a cut of the merchandise and TV contract by putting it into the prize pool. However waiver forms are part of every day buissness. This lawsuit isn't going to accomplish anything. I'm not a patent attorney or have spoken to any attorneys, I just feel this is common sense. If fear factor can make you sign a wavier saying they aren't responsible for your death the wpt wavier isn't illegal. The only way that the players are going to get a cut of the profits is to form a players union and threaten to form their own tour where all the profits are put on the felt.

The issue isnt whether or not their are waivers/releases, its the fact that the releases are for all purposes above and beyond WPTs immediate interests and is in perpetuity. If youve read the 2+2 threads from anti-trust attorneys, the chances of the releases staying intact are almost nil.The casino contracts have a better chance of surviving because of technical issues over defining the market, but as a practical matter clearly serve to restrain trade.

Daniel actually can impact the outcome of the lawsuit. Lawsuits don't always end with a jury verdict. In fact, very few do. Most settle before it gets to court. Public opinion could pressure the WPT to want to settle this quickly. Peer pressure could pressure the Seven to drop it or accept a bad resolution.Daniel, as a poker player, should want the Seven to "win." They may not be who Daniel would want in this lawsuit, but there is no conceivable reason (unless he is a major WPT stockholder) for a poker player to want the WPT to win. It would make their image harder to control, endorsements more difficult to secure, and any changes from the WPT harder to get.

Hey Gordon if DN wanted to call and chat I think he would have if it would have made a difference. With everything going on right now with online gaming, their timing couldn't be worse. Just understand anything that would have stopped this b4 it happened Dn would have done. Besides I am going to enjoy it when Puke and her moron brother and co. swing 4 this. The crap will hit the fan ...so to speak.

Bottom line everyone is entitled to their opinions, I just don`t see any positive about this, especially for online poker whether playing pro or for fun
The thing is these seven don't care about anyone else besides themselves...they have an argument, they may not, but make no mistake about it they are doing this for themselves and themselves alone.
