mrfritz 893
You boys hang in there. JC all the way, Iowa STATE and Kansas too. Quarterback is very good, lots of glad-handing with the QBs and such, but that's to be expected. Brittany Mahomes is only mildly annoying.
brvheart 1,753
She is WAY more than mildly annoying. The difference in the quality of the people in the Cousins vs Mahomes household is stark. The Mahomes family are all about themselves, and the Cousins are all about other people. Kirk is who I want to be when I grow up, and his wife Julie couldn't be more awesome. brvheart 1,753
Thanks for the kind words, Suited (and Fritz). I've been praying for the people in this forum for a long long long time. I'm glad you are turning your heart to Jesus! He's the best. That's scary about your mom. I'm so glad that she is on the mend. Give her my best. Seriously. My wife and I will add her to our prayer list.

brvheart 1,753
College sports realignment is the big news this week. The Big 12 finalized a deal to add Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and Colorado. The Big 12 will be an amazing basketball conference, that's for sure.
brvheart 1,753
First weekend of the NFL. Jets play tomorrow night after finishing Hard Knocks this summer. Looking forward to it. Dallas shut out the Giants 40-0 tonight, and it wasn't that close. Brock Purdy is taking the NFL by storm after destroying the Steelers today.
mrfritz 893
Cowboys are definitely going to win the Superbowl this year.

I wish you wouldn't have said this. You jinxed us. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think I'm kind-of cheering for the 49ers if the Cowboys can't win it. I hate that Brock has made me a closet 49ers fan.

brvheart 1,753
It was a horrible weekend for my peripheral fandom. That being said, the Cowboys looked great against a good Rams team. I'm excited.
mrfritz 893
That was a very solid 3 win Rams team they beat. The NFL has been very mediocre over the couple of years. Boring games, lousy officiating, crappy teams in prime time games. I still watch, but it doesn’t grab my attention nearly as much.
brvheart 1,753
I'm crazy excited for this 49ers / Eagles game on Sunday, but I'll be on suicide watch if the Eagles win solidly. I want the Eagles to lose, not only to make Purdy look better, but also for the Cowboys getting that glorious #1 seed that means so much with this new wild card format. brvheart 1,753
Well I didn't expect that. Purdy with the 4TD, 0 INT, 149 passer rating, 315 yard snoozefest. I love him. You nailed it about the officiating Fritz. It's been horrible. I hate how they are shoving new officials in just to make a quota of some sort. This is not me hating on women. This is me understanding that there is zero chance that the 6 women officials they have now were able to already get the real-world experience that they need to be quality officials. In last night's Chiefs/Packers game with 19 seconds left the official was literally standing right next to the play and she said the Chiefs player being pushed backwards out of bounds was out and stopped the clock. It was clear as day to anyone that knows the rules that the clock should have kept going. It would have been 2nd nature to her if she had more experience, but the NFL is so desperate to have a diverse crew that they are putting officials out there that don't even know the rules, and they certainly aren't consistent. It's infuriating. I'm great with having nothing but gender-fluid transwomen reffing as long as they have years of experience working up through the high school and college systems and then earning their way into the NFL by beating out anyone above them through consistent calls on the field. The NFL needs to be more transparent with their ref scoring rubrics as well. They still put the best officials on playoff games and Superbowls. You know they know who is good and who isn't. They need to relegate bad refs back to college or something. Bring up the best officials from college every year.
mrfritz 893
Merry Christmas brvy, essay and any other guests, spammers and porn bots reading this. I want to be entertained when watching sports. I just can’t with the officiating right now, no consistency at all. Add in all the injuries because these guys are playing 17 games and Thursdays and I think I found my word—oversaturated. Too much NFL. Purdy is going to win the MVP, well earned. I will be pulling for a Niners/Dolphins Super Bowl.
mrfritz 893
Oooof jinxed it
brvheart 1,753
I honestly believe that the issue with officiating is that they care more about diversity than consistency and meritocracy. I have absolutely no issue with hiring minorities or females, but the issue is they are pushing them into games WAY before they are ready in the name of diversity. That is not good and it is destroying people's trust in the officials. The NFL needs to take a cue (que? queue?) from the XFL (now UFL) on officiating. Everything should be in the open. All discussions should be watched and listened to over the air. It was refreshing to see that transparency. They should release a scoring rubric and show the scores for each official. The bottom 10% should still be employed, but relegated to college or the UFL until they can earn their way back up to the NFL. I'm with you. It's getting bad. Really bad. Gambling being in bed with the sports leagues is also a horrible horrible idea that will end very badly. I'm sad about Purdy's Christmas game, but if he beats the Ravens in the SuperBowl with a great game, that will be a much better ending for the future Oscar-winning film. brvheart 1,753
Well the Dolphins got beat at home. If they had won they would have gotten a home playoff game again against the Bills, instead they have to go on the road and beat the Chiefs. That's not good. It would be the greatest upset of all-time if the Dolphins made the Superbowl now. The in-season Hardknocks with the Dolphins has been great this year. Carl Wimmer went to the game with Heston. 49ers got the #1 seed and Dallas the #2. This post-season I'm rooting for Purdy to play well above everything else including the Cowboys in the Superbowl. Best case, is that Dallas goes to the 49ers for the NFC Championship game and Purdy has a 100% completion percentage on more than 30 throws, with 4 TD's and perfect passer rating in a loss to the Cowboys to play the Ravens in the Superbowl. mrfritz 893
Cowboys lose at home to the seventh seeded Packers. What an upset, no one could've predicted this.
brvheart 1,753
DAMN YOU, FRITZ!
brvheart 1,753
I'm now officially all-in on the 49ers. I will be pretty sad if Brock plays badly. I don't even care if they lose, as long as he doesn't have another "Ravens" game.
mrfritz 893
I would be a tremendous choke job if the 49ers don't make the Super Bowl.
brvheart 1,753
Sadly, you are correct, and that makes it even worse to be Brock right now, because he will immediately be looped in with Romo and that stink will follow him forever. Romo is a Hall of Fame QB that will never get respect (or the HOF) because people perceive that he wasn't "clutch", despite the stats.
mrfritz 893
They are healthy and have home field advantage with only the Packers and Lions/Bucs left, no excuses this year. I don’t like the HOF in any sport, it inevitably turns into a popularity contest and nauseating hot takes.
mrfritz 893
PROP BET CJ Stroud OVER .5 touchdown passes Zay Flowers OVER 49.5 receiving yards
brvheart 1,753
That was a bad beat on your prop bets, Fritz. I'm shocked that neither of them hit.
