question, to whom it may concern...

I'm curious if any of you run home tourney's and what you see as the best blind structures/starting chips are. I'm currently running 10,000 in chips with 50-100 blinds going up every 25 minutes but have had some complaints lately. I'm just curious if anyone has any suggestions to improve the structure. This is usually a $100 buy-in tourney, so I'm trying to get it as appealing to everyone who plays as possible. Thanks.

yep kinda hard to answer your question without know what they don't like. Does the game take too long...do the blinds get too high too fast. Fill us in please.

to many starting chips for the blinds....blind changes coming too fast...pretty much anything those who bust out first can think of!!! At first, I thought it was just complaining for busting early, but it's every week. I just didn't know if there was something that could be change to better the game.

i'd like to host a good tournament weekly so i can get a good showing from almost everyone every week, as most of the players are college kids pissing away their mommy and daddy's money. Also, believe it or not, there's a VERY good poker scene in middle-of-nowhere Kansas, where I could bring in alot of players to the game but some are sketchy about putting up $100 in a non-casino game without a solid structure.

yah, that's what i was thinking. But usually after the first one, only the remaining 6-7 are up for another one, so that's why i was thinking about trying to expand it to one big one. (we usually get about 25ish a week, but could pull about 40ish if i straightened everything out and got on the horn every week)

I run a weekly home tourny, and all the participants seem pretty pleased with the structure.note: I decided it was dumb to have the illusion of large chip values, with the typical starting round of 25-50. Whatever. If you have 5000 in your stack and the blinds are 10-20, it's the same as having 50o at 1-2. Starting stacks are dependent on # of players - 4500/n (n = number of players). We typically have about 10 people show up, so with 450 you start with about 225 times the big blind for the first round.20 minute rounds1-22-43-64-85-107-14 (a lot of my friends who aren't as math-inclined hate this round) :)color out the 1's10-2015-3020-4030-60every round after increase the small blind by 10 and the big by 20.I was after a weekly tourny that lasted about the same time each week. I accomplished this by having the total chips in play the same at each tourny. Since we typically have around 10 players each week, this has worked out pretty well. Even when we have a lot of people show up, the starting rounds are pretty forgiving. We usually get heads up around the 30-60 round, so the tournies last about 3-4 hours. You can increase or decrease this total tourny length by varying the chips in play from 4500. You could also increase or decrease the round length, but I think changing the chips is preferable. I definitely wouldn't want rounds any less than 20 minutes in length.

i run alot of local tournaments...we start with 500 in chips, blinds start out slow going up every 30minutes, 5-10 10-20 15-30 20-40 25-50, then they begin doubling every half hour, 50-100, 100-200, 200-400, until the end of the tourney...

PM me - we run a few card rooms here in town and run a varying amount of tourneys with different structures for lower and higher buyins, different starting stacks etc...

Yikes, starting with only 50BB? That would be scary for a player like me. For my home games we start with about 1000 with blinds of 5-10. The length of the levels depend on the number of players.

I've never had anything but compliments for my tournament structure.Start with 5000 in chips and blinds at 25-25. Levels move up every half hour.25-2525-5050-10075-150100-200150-300200-400300-600400-800I've found the best starting chips are2-1000 chips4-500 chips8-100 chips8-25 chipsI add a 100 ante during the 400-800 round. The structure moves very slowly and allows for a lot of play. I also allow rebuys for the first three levels.
