card protectors

Recommended Posts

yes i agree that most people who use any form of poker paraphernalia are usually fish. However, not everyone who uses card protectors is automatically a fish. I for one am just protecting against a bad dealer. And it's more fun to use a card protector than a chip from your stack. Besides, you gotta admit it looks cooler.

Umm I play limit cash games and even in tournaments or Nl cashgames when you say all in the dealer rarely tries to muck your hand. Nice try though P.S. just hold them in your hand if you that worried all in.
That's right...RARELY...another way to say it is it might happen once in a while though isn't it ?:think:You don't want to use a card protector then don't. Besides...dealers never ever make mistakes, right ?:wall:

Of course most dealers make tons, but I've absolutely never seen it when a player announced all in or moved his chips to the center of the table. Again, When I have had all my chips in I hold the cards, but when one is all in a tournament you have to turn the cards face up as soon as there is a call. So for a dealer to screw up this bad he would have to muck the cards before the player announced all in at which point your cards would have a chip on them. A dealer should be fired or investigated for collusion if a player announced all in after having his cards protected and there was a call and then the dealer mucked his hand.

Course. I think my right hand works the best, and looks the least pretentious/stupid as a card protector.
AMEN!!! i think anyone who is stupid enough to let the dealer muck their cards deserves it.

Sigh.We are playing in the little BS daily tourny at the Circus Circus Reno. It has a $15 buy in and a one hour time limit. The clock has gone off...so this will be the last hand of the tourny. Everyone with chips will be all in except the chip leader...blind.My buddy is in seat 10. AS HE IS PUSHING IN HIS STACKS the dealer ( Raymond...actually a skilled dealer ) sees his cards and actually scoops them from beneath his arms. Never saw anything like it and you could tell from the look on his face the moment he did it that Raymond knew he just had a major brain fart. The ruling ? Dead hand. My buddy never looked at his cards so they couldn't be retrieved had that even been allowed.Extreme example of a "once in a lifetime " occurance ? Maybe...but it still happened. Plus, like I said, there is always the jerkoffs who fling their cards while mucking to contend with. I was told of a group in a Cali casino who seemed to do this to tourists on purpose...but that is just heresay.Whatever...the whole regali kinda has the same effect on me as it does you...but I honestly feel a card protector is not in that catagory.

that is the most ludicrous story i've ever heard. everyone HAS to be all-in, and the dealer still mucks his cards? there is no logic. and maybe it did happen, frankly i don't care. but its happened that people have had sex with jessica simpson and won the lottery, but i'm not buying her dinner or buying lottery tickets.as for card protectors, i have this crazy little coin i use my grandfather gave me. its a bit thick and bronze, on one side it says Good Luck 1965 and has a weird symbol which I'm told is a Masonic coat of arms, and on the other side has an embossed picture of a nerdy looking guy with glasses and says "Harold J. Mandelker".I googled this name, and it didn't bring up one result. No idea what the friggin coin means. But its nicely weighted, both for spinning and jamming into the jugular of the guy who runner-runnered a 3-high flush over my set of kings.Daniel

does anyone here use a card protector when they play? Or have a favorite kind of card protector to use? I'd love to hear some responses on this.I always use one now, ever since I was playing a 1/2 NL home game and i was involved in a huge pot with this guy who was overplaying a pair of kings, top pair on the board. I had AA, and he called a raise on the flop, leaving himself with little under $20. I was just about to set him all-in on the turn when i saw a blank hit and i looked down at my chips...my cards were gone. The dealer had actually mucked my cards somehow after the flop action. I've found card protectors avoid that absent minded dealer problem.
You need to find a new home game because you just got cheated! Not even the most retarded dealer in the world mucks someones cards when play is heads up.Card protectors suck ......use a chip! :club:

Learn to read jackwad. Noboady said you HAVE TO be in...I said the clock went off and it was the last hand. Everyone with chips is all in ...blind. The brain dead may fold.Maybe, huh ? I have no reason to make up some story about a $15 tourny. I was giving a specific example of a memorable event. You believe whatever you want.Use a card protector if you want, or stick them up your ass for all I care.

Why is everybody getting all up in arms about card protectors? It's stupid to say that EVERYBODY with a card protector is a tv fish. Do what you want and use whatever card protector you want. As long as you are protecting your cards in some manner, card protectors should be one of the least important things at the table.

lol "learn to read jackwad" - nicely put.in fact, i did read, and if you had read mine, would have seen that I accepted it might be true, and didn't really care. My point was that even if it did happen, its sure as hell unlikely to happen again. nor do i believe something similar is likely to happen. there are some good and some not good reasons for card protectors. do what you want. but perhaps read a post before you recommend others do the same, "jackwad".

Lmao. In the group of friends I play in tournaments with we call players that stay in no matter what, a "donkey".
I wonder if this will catch on?

You are in such deep shit. I'm not even quoting the part where you mentioned "HIM" and his secretive cabal. Keep your eyes out for black helicopters, rotating chase cars, and if your car doesn't start right away gtfo.
