why is josh arieh deleting blog entries??

Three things are undeniable truths.....1.  People that Hate Bush....will twist any instance to mean anything they want it to mean....if it suits their purpose.  (Their irrational hatred of the prez.)2.  Some poker players now think they are "real" celebrities....and we all know that celebrities seem to think that we all care about what they think.....if Marlon brando called a press conference tommorow to give his opinion on the matter...I could care less...nevermind that it would be an amazing feat since he is dead.   Arieh should just shut up and play poker....or berate people for calling his allins with the best hand.3.  The president has been the only "adult" in a leadership position in this mess.   The Mayor of NO, The chief of Police of NO, and the Governor of NO are all idiots.
I'm surprised to hear this from someone who is respected in this forum.#1, there's plenty of rationale behind people's hatred for Bush. Plenty. And this is coming from someone who is fairly neutral on this particular subject. There's far more ignorance in the pro-Bush camp than in the anti-Bush camp.As for people spinning information to use it against the president, how ignorant are you to think that this kind of propoganda is one-sided? Furthermore, how could you possibly think that there's more anti-Bush propoganda out there than there is pro-Bush propoganda? Please...#2, it's Josh's blog, he can write whatever he wants.#3, you've given me absolutely no reason to agree with your third point. You might as well have written "The Governor or NO wipes his ass with pine needles." It's just gibberish.
Ill help u out with number 3....the mayor accused bush of not sending help fast enough b/c the poeople left were black and poor and well if they died so what....the police chief has no control over his officers as they were caught themselves looting and not keeping order in the city...I dont have anything on the Governor so somebody else can help out with thatAS for bush...Yeah a ton of people dislike him...so what...enough people felt he was worthy of a second term...so deal with it

What the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, Matt?Read more carefully before you write something like this.Deal with it? Yeah, I'm fine.I said that a ton of people dislike him and have plenty of good reasons for it. I didn't say I was one of those people. And please, don't say that I implied that I was one of those people. I clearly said "this is coming from someone who is fairly neutral on this particular subject."Stop defending your side when it hasn't been attacked. It makes you look bad.

3. The president has been the only "adult" in a leadership position in this mess. The Mayor of NO' date=' The chief of Police of NO' date=' and the Governor of NO are all idiots.[/quote'']alf, the mayor of NO is the only one who has been doing whatever he could the entire time in getting people evacuated and what not. <snip>This is patently false. I think he is doing a good job now, but there was a picture of a huge school bus compound with about 200 buses in about 6 feet of water. You as mayor KNOW 37% of your city's population is below the poverty level. Why did he not mobilize those buses to bus out the people in the MANDITORY evacuation to get out those who could not get out themselves? The mayor himself on MSNBC said that the President asked the Govenor if she wanted the National Guard deployed from other states (she as govenor has to be the one to request/order them up by the way) , he asked this the day of or after the hurricane hit and she told him she needed 24 hours to decide. This is from Mayor Nidal who is no Bush fan himself. There is blame enough to go around on this but the state in our republic has the first line response.Brianbasshuntr

im pretty sure that the unexpected part was that the city would basically be flooded...which didnt happen from the hurricane but instead b/c the levees broke...so that leads me to some other questions...A. If the levees were damaged why werent they fixed before hand and B. why werent the levees controlled enough so that they could withstand the rise in water levels to keep from busting?
I heard nothing about the levees being broken or damaged beforehand. I had heard that they were only built to withstand a category 3 hurricane though. This truly is a tragedy, but when you live under sea level in between a giant lake and a swamp, that kind of shit happens.

Some of the levees were apparently about as old as the country itself.... built by the French hundreds and hundreds of years ago. They should have been repaired or replaced long ago.

I love it when you are agreeing with someone, and trying to argue with them at the same time. I never said that Mayor Nidal is doing a bang up job, but that in the scope of things, that he is/has done the best job out of all parties in authority positions are concerned. I myself am no Bush Fan, and you won't hear me say that he is being racist in this situation, and I even noted taht he did delcare a state of emergency before the Hurricane hit, I just feel that for almost everyone concerned, that the response time has really been lacking

Thanks guys for turning my post about Josh Arieh into a post about Bush. I think what happened is that Josh (as everyone else was) was wondering why it was taking so long to get help in to NO. But the problem was that he chose to bash all the wrong people. Do you really think the President was sitting at home thinking "If I can just keep the help out a while longer, we can loose some of those N*&^%#$". NO, he was trying to figure out HOW to get the help in. Then he goes on to say that none of the other counties are helping out (didn’t Afghanistan, among many other countries, send us money?)As for Mr. Bitch Ass Arieh, I will not go to his site again. He realized that his post was absolutely ridiculous and that it would not help his "Image", so he deleted it. What a pansy, if you have the balls to put it out there, you should have the balls to leave it up and stand up for yourself (even if that means admitting you were WRONG). I guarantee he will not respond to this post or will he respond on his website, as I said before he is clearly a PANSY. As you can tell I am a little mad about the situation, I am tired of these players putting up what ever on their website just to get as many hits as possible.

The Mayor and governer failed miserably on their end. First of all it was the president who had to insist that the Mayor evacuate the city. Next, neither the mayor nor the governer did everything they were responsible for according to their own evacuation plan. ( For instance? why wasn't the superdome secured and stocked with food, water, and medical supplies? Why weren't the thousands of buses earmarked in the evacuation plan for evacuating those infirmed or without transportation not put to use?) As for Alfs comments, I won't comment on the first two, but he is absolutely right on his third point. Contrast the mayor of N>O with the mayor of New York after the 9/11 attacks. The Mayor and Governer have whined and expended too much of their energy trying to shift the blame to other than themselves. President Bush has been the only leader to keep his eye on the task at hand. He admitted that the federal response was too slow. One more point, Fema under its current leadership has succesfully responded to several hurricaines, (some this year) Why have things been different this time? 1. The failure of local preparation and response. 2. The massive size of this disaster is much greater than any of the recent hurricaines. It may be that after examination that FEMA is not going to be reliable in situations this massive, especially if the locals don't have their house in order. 3. The levys failing after the storm passed was a major hurdle to the planning and rescue efforts which all had to be changed in tact and scope.

As for Alfs comments, I won't comment on the first two, but he is absolutely right on his third point.
I live in Jersey, and knew people who had to be ushered out of their buildings after 9/11, and I can say that Guiliani didn't respond as fast as people think. He was hiding under his desk in mortal fear when 9/11 happened. Also, NYC only had to block off like 20 sq city blocks in the aftermath of 9/11 as opposed to the entire city being destroyed. 9/11 was much different then NO. I was able to go into NYC the next day and only relief workers can go into NO right now. THe NO mayor warned about the levees and did what he could to prevent the flooding happening.

I will agree that 9/11 is a bad comparison, I guess the point was that at least publicly Guiliani was poised and seemed in controll, while the LA officials are on radio and tv crying and talking about how evil Bush wouldn't save the black people. ITs just BS that makes me mad enough to post. I do believe the mayor cares deeply and is passionate about his citizens but that does not excuse his behaviors.

the only thing that can really be compared to recently is hurricane andrew, and the response time to the devastation of andrew and the devastation of katrina is extremely different

The problem here was the outright refusal of aid, not simply the slow response time. There were actually government officials that turned away food and water trucks at gunpoint. It's very hard to pass too much judgement on this scenario though because nothing in recent years really compares. Still though, the difference between local and federal action should be huge. I think this event should make everyone take a closer look at the current appropriation of funds. I don't think it's fair to criticize JA for his opinion of the response. I don't think he should have necessarily taken down his posts either. Frustration and anger over the events is completely understandable.
