playing in a casino underage

Recommended Posts

If you enter a casino and sit at a poker table when you're ohh say.. 1 year below the age minimum at what point would they check your id? I've heard that if you win over a certain amount they can check your age and take away winnings? Just curious.. because.. my friend wants to know :club:

I'm thinking that the first time you put a bad beat on some guy who thinks he knowswhat he is doing, that'll be the cue for somebodyto question your age. With the accessibility of online poker these daysit's not worth the risk, man.

i've been to the commerce, bike and HG a few times...overall, probably 16 times all together. i've been caught only once, but played it off cool and got to keep my money. they hardly check id's at the commerce and HG and their nl 100 and 300 buy in were pretty soft from the times i've played there

they can check a persons age whenever they want. sometimes they will check when u walk into the casino, sometimes they check during play, they almost always check when u cash out. sometimes you might get lucky and they dont check at all.

before i picked up poker i took my brothers idea to a casino for a little black jack. man i got shit canned. Passed out in my friends car for like 3 hours, and when i came back i tried to get a beer, and the cocktail waitress went to get it and came back and said sirry i can;t serve you anymore. Something about me passing out in fron of the fountain. Alcohol is EVIL if you do not know how to "quit when your ahead" Ended up losing 150 and my buzz, amkes for a good story though :lol:Edit:my brothers I.D., not idea. grammer nazis have at it

i have a question can the casinos not give you ur money if they find out youve been playing their as a minor.
I believe yes. Because you got the money 'illegally' by playing while underage.
how about take away ur money?
I would think yes, they can, because of the same reason. There have been cases of this happening and cases of the underage person suing to get their money back (by saying it was the casino's fault for not stopping them at the door). I don't know who won what as I don't have any links. But going to a casino underage, you are taking a risk. You might not get caught, then again, you might. It's just like drinking...underage drinking is illegal, underage gambling is illegal. Sometimes you get caught drinking, sometimes you don't. But either way, you take the chance because it's illegal.Note: I am not trying to be the moral police...I am close to 40 and drank when underaged, but never gambled. Then again, the gambling age at the time was 18 and I just waited.

You know, I never think about the age requirement because I am in my 30's. Is the age requirement at non-casino card rooms (like the Commerce) 21? If so, and your friend is 20, then check out the Indian Casinos with poker rooms. I know the age limit at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, CA is only 18. It is also a full blown casino (just no dice).Oops, I just noticed the date of the original post. The underage player in question is probably of age by now.

From my experience in Vegas certain places check your id at the door (Wynn) other dont check you at all (MGM) and others will check you evey second (Aladdin, Balllys..) But you get hassled the most when you are cashing out for sure thaey dont seem to mind if you are losing

I've never been carded in AC, though I never played while underage. I suggest growing facial hair if possible. A couple 20 year old girls I know who happen to look particularly young were rousted from their seats, but I rarely see anyone bothered at all.

If you go to vegas and you don't look ridiculously young, you should be good to go. There are a few things you can do to make it easier for you.1) Dress nicely. I'm not saying show up in a suit, but some sort of slacks and a nicer shirt are the way to go. Don't wear shorts and a t-shirt.2) Play at the MGM and the Mirage and the Bellagio. Those 3, I've never seen anyone get carded at. Ballys is much more likely to card. Note that these opinions are based on a decent sized sample, but it could just be variance.3) Have at least one person with you who is 21. They do card a lot when people are cashing out.

the only reason they take your I.D. for a bad beat is in cause of cheating ~i lived in vegas for a wile when i was in my mid-20's and would say ~ stick to the strip,if they ask your friend for I.D. ~ tell your friend to say he doesnt have any with him ~ they will give him a receipt ~ and when he turns 21 go in with the receipt and pick up the cash

I play at Commerce pretty consistently, and I've been carded all of two times - once with 2 friends as we walked in, and once when I was at a bad beat jackpot table (they take everyone's ID and give it back when you get your table share). I've never seen a floor or dealer card someone for any reason other than jackpots; it's usually the security that will do it unprovoked. I've never been carded at HP or Bike, and did not get carded in Vegas at Wynn or MGM. BTW I'm 23 but have a baby face :club:
