Hey guys. I was wondering if you could help me out here. I've been playing on PokerStars.com for a while now, but I think I want to try a different site. Where do you play? Which do you think is best and why? Thanks.

I play at Absolute Poker for several reasons.1. I play strictly tournaments and I love the tournament structure there. They give you $1500 in trny chips to start, and the blinds start at 10/20 normally. In MTTs, they go up every 10 min and STTs every 10 hands (tables start 9 handed). They just recently started running rebuys.2. Thier customer service is excellent.3. Thier core group of tournament players are all solid, yet the site's not so big that you have to wade through an ocean of fish to make it ITM.4. 90% of the regular players are all a pleasure to play with. Most of thier "regulars" are knowledgable enough to understand why I called thier all in with J2 when I have 5 times thier chips and we're on the bubble, lol (and we're both in the blinds).5. The site has a few pros that play there, and they seem to be attracting more. All in all, the site has a few hiccups with thier software, but definitely a favorite of mine.

You should play some of the cash games there as well, I tend to believe the games are really beatable if you adjust your game slightly. People say it's a rock garden and well it's not as loose as other sites, but this game is easy to beat on, you just have to change your style a lil bit from ABC poker. The 5/10 games are actually usually tougher than the 15/30 games for whatever reason. AP is a decent site, because of their bonuses, but that software is awful. I get disconnected at least once or twice an hour when I'm on there. I've probably lost over a thousand dollars from disconnects alone.I would also say that the tournaments do have some pretty good players. Players like Bottsky and Kev1 are pretty good tournament players, but most of these exclusive tournament players get it handed to them when they play cash games.

Why not try most of them out through a referral site like pokersourceonline.com. They help poker sites get new customers by offering good bonuses and free items of your choice (gift certificates, books, dvds, etc.) If you've never been to party poker yet, they'll give you $75 for free, no strings attached at their sister site instantbankroll.com/ I've taken the free money and turned it to $400 and several free things. I would love the referral (shinychicken) if you sign up.PM if you need more details

I was watching poker on TV just now and I saw a commercial for a site called PokerInCanada.ca and was wondering if it was any good. I have never heard of it before, but thought I might as well support a Canadian site. Anyone used it? Also, thanks for sharing your opinions and advice everyone.

Thanks jay, i may do that. As I said, I'm mainly a trny player and tend to avoid the cash games. The reason for this is simple: I don't care for limit games. I do play the NL cash games now and then, but not very often. Do you play tourneys there often? My s/n on there is lboarts, as it is on every site i play on and post to.

I do play tournaments there once in a while, but not too often. I don't find the prizepools to be particularly big, so they don't interest me too much. They have the 13k guarantee, but I'm not a big fan of playing 4 or 5 hours of perfect poker in order to make a final table and get paid.I play the $100 MTT's once in a while when they have a field over 100 players, but not too often since there usually isn't. They do have probably the best tournament structure though, you never really feel shortstacked even if your playing really tight.

If you play for the challange of it, play there. If you play for money, play at Party. It isn't even that every Party game is softer than every Absolute game, it's that you have 40 tables to choose from to find the soft one instead of 4.Game selection at Absolute sucks.

A $100 trny with more than 100 people? lmao. Someday they'll be that big, never seen that on there yet though. Unless its a special satellite, or something. I heard rumors they are considering starting a huge guaranteed trny once a week, with smaller sat's for it throughout the week, sorta like pokerstars does with thier Sun trny. Will be interesting to see that take off.I agree with the 4 hour point you made, though. Thier rebuys are running 4+ hours as well, because you start with $1500 in those also and get $1500 per rebuy and you can do 2 add ons for $2000 more each! I've cashed in %50 of the rebuys I've played so far, so the structure helps me, but 4 hours is a long time in 1 trny.

How are the trnys at Party, smash? You mention game selection, I assume you are referring to cash games. I'm strictly a trny player, mainly a SnG specialist. I love that they only last about an hour and top 3 get paid. Thats 33% of the field at AP (30% at Party). I cash in 60% of the SnG's I play, so I usually pound the $40 to $100 SnGs and do well enough at it.

One thing your overlooking is the fact that because there isn't so many tables, the players you do play against, you are very familiar with their play and therefore can read their hands very easily. Most of the time, I know exactly what they have because I've played so many hands with them before, which makes it easy for me to maximize my profits and minimize my losses.Yes, game selection does suck at the site and there's usually not that many high games running there, which is why I play on other sites usually when I want to play higher. I generally play 5/10 or 10/20 on AP and will play higher on the other sites, because of the game selection available at sites like Party.I will say that 5/10 is probably tougher to beat on AP than the middle limit games on other sites, there just happens to be a lot of good players that play 5/10 on there. For me though, it's all poker and I don't mind any type of game, because I can adjust properly when needed.Beating up on easy games is fine and obviously profitable, but if your goal is to move up and play the higher limits, is it in your best interest to only play these games and not have the experience against better players? I think having the experience of playing against good players is very valuable, even if it's not profitable neccessarily, it makes you into a better player. I guess it depends what your goals are, I'm young and can afford to take those risks and my goal is always to be moving up and playing as High as possible.

Well, I've seen them run the $100 MTT's with over 100 people a couple times, not often of course, usually only about 50 players. If you want to play tournaments with big prizepools, try pokerstars, the structure is not bad and the prizepools are juicy. Their $10+1 rebuy Tournaments usually end up with 1st place getting $11k. Their freezeouts usually have 800 or so players in them as well, so for big tournaments, that's the place to play.I find tournaments to be boring, unless they're big. If it's a $30 buy-in or whatever, I don't feel like having to play a couple hours, busting and winning nothing when I could have used that same 2 or 3 hrs to be killing the cash games. If it's a bigger buy-in tournament, I'm motivated and able to concentrate much more, since the prize for winning is so much bigger.

Pokertracker.Poker isn't a gunfight. It's not about beating the best it's about crushing the worst. At all lmiits. This is why the "Big game" revolves around a sucker much of the time. We play for money, right? I do anyway. I'm not playing for the satisfaction of beating a good player, I'm playing for the schadenfreunde of crushing bad ones and taking their cash.

60% of sit n goes cashed would rank at the top of all players who play at Party. Your number might be off there I know a ton of strong players and we all are between 40-50% and we are far ahead of the mean at PP, according to Poker Prophecy.

:club: I'm probably one of the only players on here that doesn't even use Pokertracker. Does it make it easier if I did? I don't know, maybe it would, maybe it wouldn't, but I don't use it. I'll store a note or 2 on a player, but that's about it, the rest I usually just remember. I'm not saying you on purposely find a table with the best players and sit there, I'm just saying that if I sit down at a table and some tough players sit down, I'm not going to just get up and leave, I'll play them because I'll pick up some things by playing them. If I feel overmatched, that's totally different, I'll get up and leave if that's the case. You personally are satisfied beating the limits your beating where simple play is usually enough to beat the games, but for those of us who aspire to play higher and eventually the really high games, the need to play against better competition is neccessary and the knowledge gained from doing so is worth losing some profit in the shortrun.I guess I'm a lil bit different, I play for money, but at the same time have a passion for the game and constantly want to become a better player. For me, sacrificing a bit of profit to become better seems like a no brainer for me.
