2017 Trade Deadline Stuff

on the other hand, they are passing up a lot of potentially good players just to stockpile draft picks in what is considered a fairly weak draft.

I think this is like the 5th consecutive year or thereabouts that a draft is considered weak

Thats a 3-1 lead talking.

Burrows to Ottawa, Ott to Montreal. These teams are trying to make me hate them more than I already do.

That's not my recollection at all. I remember the 14-16 drafts being considered particularly strong, but I could be mistaken.

My point is that I often hear from various sources (credible or not) that this years draft is weak, whatever the year is. (I mostly hear it from baseball and hockey as those are the drafts I follow)

I wish I can remember what the source or sources of my recollection. In retrospect, a draft class is often different than originally thought so

I usually don't buy into it much

Matt Dumba or Alex Tuch + Erik Haula

Josh Manson or Shea Theodore + Clayton Stoner

I think Vegas took the wrong side of both of those deals.

1. I dont think I agree with you. I really like Theodore, and have read good things on Tuch

2. I'm not sure thats a fair comparison anyway. Meaning, Im not sure Dumba would have been made available if they didnt have deal in place. Maybe Zucker? Same thing for Manson.

If we go on premise that they would have been made available, Id rather have Theodore and Dumba. lol

The Anaheim one is closer, it depends how highly you value Manson. I do like Theodore a lot.

The Minny one isn't really close IMO. Tuch hasn't really done anything since he was drafted, at the NCAA or pro level. he has third line upside at best, IMO.

I think Vegas might have a half decent team.

Trades aside, biggest mistakes at first glance are, to

Me: John Merrill over Camalleri. Emelin over anyone (I'd have taken Davidson).

Nate Schmidt was a good pick. They've got a handful of pretty decent players overall. Could be even better if Gusev comes over and shipachyev pans out.

Hopefully everyone is just sleeping in after a night in Vegas. Trade freeze lifted 3 hours ago and so far radio silence.

Casino 1, me 0. Thanks for a great few days, Vegas. Off to Chicago. Going to be a wild few days.

Its Vegas, people are busy Dave!

I like that Elliotte gambles.

Nice! lol

Eberle to NYI. Guess Hamonic the other way? Would they ask for Hamonic+more?

I love McDavid, but all of a sudden, that Oiler team feels really shallow in top 6 fwds

for Ryan Strome, lol.

Chiarelli honestly might be the worst GM in the league, other than maybe Jim Benning.

we're coming up on the 2yr anniversary of when he traded 2 1sts for Griffin Reinhart. ouch
