Late to the discussion, but...

I quite like 80s music... Though I don't know it very well. I always liked the synth usage. I also Iike it's contemporary revival synth pop version with some samples from the old stuff.

Some lighthearted talk here plus this will make sure that I can read this again sometime as it's a good story, at least for me. If it wasnt for posting all those apartment stories I would forget almos

I debated posting this, because I might be overdoing this topic this week, but I made a sort of personal promise to myself that I am going to promote more positivity and try to never be negative or pu

The problem is you need a huge factory...I am working on become a distributor

I'm assuming there is a lot of issues with importing meat into the country. Tricky, but make it happen, because we need a good place here.

There used to be some decent places, but I find it lacking now.

This is cool to hear, usually people that like 80s music are my generation...70s and 60s have more appeal to people

Ya, I have a friend who works for CBSA, and he even explained to me how difficult dairy operations are, and how difficult meat is too.

I was a little bummed when Chobani Yogourt didnt make it over the border.

Ya, and I didn't listen to any of this growing up. I mean I turned 5 at the end of 1989... And I listened to country throughout most of the 90s.

My musical tastes are weird though.

"Some gave all" was my JAM when I was 8. I pretty much loved country (and Ace of Base) until Dookie came out, and I became obsessed with Green Day, then alternative/rock music of the early 90s by default.

Yeah, we had that CD. I used to sing Achy Breaky Heart all the time, even in class... but I'd get in trouble for speaking English in my French immersion classes so I rewrote it in French. Lol.

Early 90s was all Garth Brooks for me. Like a bunch of other country too. I'd say that lasted until high school in 98ish...

Then I was into Limp Bizkit and Bloodhound Gang for a while...

Then I got into rap... Started with Dre 2001 but quickly got really into Cash Money and especially the Big Tymers... Then it was the clubbier rap/hip hop stuff and 50 cent's first album... Then I got into Three 6 Mafia a lot... Then most recently I got into Hyper Crush, who do a bunch of the throwback 80s stuff but modernized to electronica type stuff with heavy bass... Also had small stints with RHCP and The Hip over the years.

I still listen to basically all of the above.

not one of my fav songs off the album, but that record is probably easily in my top 5 for my life. I still get into it at times.

That was one of those albums you could listen to from start to end. I guess there aren't really "albums" per say anymore, just one song you download. sad.

That was before he was Armenian

Not a fan of Kanye, or some of his music, but Graduation and esp. 808's & Heartbreak was fantastic. (Im not sure if thats the timeline Dave is referring to, but that was the album I loved from Kanye)

Your playlist just reminds me how much great music is out there that I never listen to, yet have heard every Taylor Swift song like 1000 times. Its my laziness, but I wish I had a better clue of what radio stations to listen to venture away from pop once in a while.

Music is all about marketing IMO..

The person who won the grammy is not even close to the most talented musician out there...

What? Aren't you in range of Q107?

Basically all my music tastes were formed by Q107 - particularly that they put on $10 shows for some amazing bands at the Ex the summer after I turned 18, when I was finding myself down in that part of town pretty often for the casino. Just in the time the charity casino was on, I think I saw Rush, Boston, Jethro Tull, Thin Lizzy, David Wilcox and a couple others, for $10 each.

These days, I mostly listen to 60s and 70s classic rock, heavier on instrumental and prog rock-leaning, like Zeppelin, Rush, Jethro Tull, Allman Brothers, Deep Purple, Guess Who. Obviously a good sprinkling of awesome/terrible 80s music (though I draw the line at Duran Duran) and the 90s stuff that was all around me growing up. I'm not ashamed to like plenty of newer poppy-type stuff, but can't get into much current rock. I've got Lady Gaga on my mix, but no Marianna's Trench. Since I've heard most of those classic rock songs a million times, I'm probably happiest when something like James Brown, Rufus Thomas or Funkadelic comes up on my mix...

I guess it depends on how you define musical talent. I know I dont really know how, and the argument the guys mentioned before comes up again, isn't the one who makes the music that the most people like, also "talented"?

There was a time when I was, now Im just not into that kind of musical playlist at most times. Lets face it, Q isnt really anymore about "different" music than your basic pop station. They play the hits, just off a different genre, at least from what I can tell.

Right, and they have their basic playlist, and they just run through that. Its nothing new, and its nothing we havent all heard a bunch of times. Essentially, its the soundtrack to your life if you grew up in the 60'/70's/80's off rock music, with the occasional other rock tunes thrown in for Cancon or other reasons.
