TRADE ALERT Originally drafted by the Cheap Thieves, the prodigal son returns. The only Leaf ever drafted by the Cheap Thieves will return to the team and be looked upon for depth scoring. The deal was:Cheap Thieves recieve:Nik Antropov, TOR.Rug Rats 4th RD pick 2011-12Rug Rats recieve:Lee Stempniak, STL. Antropov is signed for $2.00 across the board for the next season. At 28 years old, that will likely be his final contract in the NHL. The deal adds depth to the team and allows the Thieves to safely call up rookie T.J. Oshie. Stempniak is poised to have a breakout season in St.Louis playing on a line with Boyes while also manning the PP. Stempniak is just 25 and is signed to a better deal, at $0.50 over the next four years. While Stempniak is younger and has more upside, the deal makes sense for the Thieves as Toronto plays a lot of AHL games and Antropov gets tons of ice time on a young team void of Mats Sundin. Stempniak will likely score more points this season and next, but he simply wasn't going to be a part of the Thieves long term as the team has high hopes for T.J. Oshie. Antropov was the 10th overall pick in the 1998 AHL entry draft and the Thieves picked him in the second round of the AHL draft. He was called up to the big club in the 2003-04 season and was later traded due to a lack of production. The Thieves are hoping he can produce in the neighborhood of 22 goals and 26 assists per season if healthy. The big IF. Antropov may see action this week with the club.

How is your football team doing :club:
Had my best week this week, 3-3. Will update that soon. Have made tons of moves, used Brandon Stokely last week and Sammy Morris. Also used the Jets D, so very different look. WR Houston and Bruce. I'll get to it tonight

I don't think so. In fact, I would still bet on Stempniak to have more points this season. He also got a cheaper and younger player. I hope you are right obviously, but I think Stempniak is going to have a big year when he returns from injury.

Antropov is going to get all kinds of playing time on the top line and top pp unit..

Let's call it 5-0 after ANOTHER shutout from the Thieves goalies, again from the Rangers. In 5 games the team has given up an astounding 7 goals! Big win over The Big M's on a Saturday night no less. Bench scoring alone would have got the job done as Antropov, Poti, and Chimera all had good night from the bench. The night isn't quite over yet, but the game is all but over with Kopitar sealing the deal with a goal in the late game:

what did i tell you about Antropov...Believe he is playing great..With the emergence of the Grabovski line, less pressure on him too...He will have a big year.

An expected loss with no goalies against the M's was a bit unfortunate, but worse, superstar Alexander Semin left the game with an undisclosed injury and he isn't exactly the most durable player in the league. Nik Antropov will get the call on Saturday in place of Semin but he'll face off against the best goalie in the world, Roberto Luongo. Next week the team plays two more games where they'll be big underdogs with no goalies against both the Dawgs and the Swackers.

The owner of the Cheap Thieves just narrowly beat the deadline by 3 minutes in submitting his lineup this evening. Maybe he was just scared to play the reeling Mustangs(who cant buy a win) or maybe it was that small tourney he won yesterday for a few hundred thousand.. :club: Congrats by the way Daniel..Nice win on your "home" turf.

Actually I beat it by an hour I think, but whatever. This tournament win cost me a crucial game against the Ghosts on Saturday night where I put in a bad lineup leaving all my goals and assists on the bench. Poti goal, Vlasic goal and an assist, iced the worst of three goalies, etc. I can't let that happen again, it was a rough stretch with 3 of 6 no goalie games but now we will right the ship and look to stretch the lead once again, even without Luongo and Semin.

A few farm updates: Drafted this season in the third round, Evgeny Grachev, not on most people's radar but I see a sniper here. In the OHL so far this season in 21 games: 13 goals 11 assists 24 points. That pales in comparison to what defenseman Jonathan Blum has been doing in the WHL. Get this, in 20 games he's scored 11 goals and 19 assists! Pretty impressive. Closest to the NHL, actually playing some games already this season is Nicklas Bergsfor playing for Lowell in the AHL this season, 8 games, 4 goals and 5 assists
