Attacked At Poker Bar

Recommended Posts

Ok, lets say for the sake of argument that all (or most) bouncers are psychos.
i work in a lounge/nightclub sort of place. more often then not when somebody gets taken out and smacked around a little they deserved it. the bouncers i've met and dealt with have for the most part been nice people. i haven't met one that i would call a psycho. however my perception may be a little skewed by the fact that when some drunk ******* is threating my life because his order got screwed up they step in and defend me so i dont have to which would mean losing my job.
b)lose all your money, get drunk and go f#ck around with a psychopath.Come on, if any of you guys say "b" I will be forced to serously question your mental capacity.
so what exactly is it that you do for fun in new zealand then?

Oh my wordSo you guys are saying bouncers are there to basically f#ck up your sh#t and give you a hard time? Bouncers only kick you out and act roughly cause they think that you're gonna cause trouble, not bacause they're sadists. They're just doing their jobs man
No, certainly not.But it's not their job to physically assault their patrons.Their job certainly is to protect people. I haven't needed protection when I go to the clubs. I'm not a violent person, and I don't start fights etc. I suppose you could say they are protecting my by simply being there, which is certainly true, so I take back my statement, but nonetheless, assaulting patrons is not only illegal, it's not their job.

You have to remember, you're talkinng to a bunch of degenerates many of whom have been known to do things like get "escorted" out of Casinos for being too obnoxious when drunk. The Bouncers are protecting the other people sitting at the Table or in the bar......of course, until they piss off the wrong Drunker redneck and now need Bouncer help getting out from under the table that the Drunker redneck flipped on them.
:(I was cordial when I was escorted out, and left without a problem.I'm always cordial to bouncers too, as usually when I'm asked to leave a bar, there's good reason. That's still no reason for them to assault me.

Not that I recall, lol.I'm pretty sure I just followed them to the cage, got my money, and left with them, and Jay, without putting up a fight.I've sorta glamorized that incident a bit, for the sake of comedy. I was never actually banned or anything, just asked to leave for the night. Unless they told me and I don't remember on account of the alcohol, lol.

For those defending bouncers:Imagine it's a police officer instead. Now do you think their (re)actions are as acceptable? The bouncer has less authoritah and can't immediately handcuff someone and ship them off to a cell for a few hours, but that does not mean they should attempt to make up for that with violence.

you mean like if i walk into a police station belligerently drunk, break something, grab some lady cops ass, and then pick a fight with the desk sergeant because he isn't doing what i want him to do fast enough? is it cool if the cops kick my ass?even "so libertarian it borders on anarchistic" me has to say, well, yea.

I'm not defending bouncers and it's possible, however unlikely, that rwood got jacked up out of the blue. I'm pretty sure words were exchanged and he instigated getting punched in the back of the head. Anyone who thinks they should be able to say anything and not be held accountable is living in a dream world.

Personally speaking, I think many bouncers are fucking retard sociopaths and deserve to be taken out back and shot in the head. Ask yourself this qwuestion: Why does someone become a bouncer? Well, normally, someone becomes a bouncer because they are already large, inclined to violence and want to put themselves in a position where it legitimizes this type of behaviour. Yes, I know bouncers face a lot of attitude and ugly situations, but is that any excuse for taking a job that is a violent power trip?**** you, bouncers (well, many of you, but not all...some of you are good decent family men, I'm sure, until someone knocks over one of your beloved velvet ropes...)
You're obviously bitter about having to stand in line at the club while more attractive people get in ahead of you. Note to Merc, don't wear the fanny pack to the club. It's also obvious that you're Canadian. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Here's the rub, because the bouncer has less authoritah than a copper he can smash more heads with impunity.

I think in real life on the "Degenerate Scale" you're probably way to the "In Control of Himself" side of the specrtum, which is opposite of the "FWP Running into Cop Cars" side of the spectrum.I was just having a little fun referencing one of the more infamous and notorious FCP stories. Actually, your incident sounded pretty entertaining. I think it is pretty funny that you picked up on exactly what I was talking about.

havent even read most of the replies yet, but to GWC, how i said it was exactly how it went down, i said nothing, no i didnt pick up the pole. and also like i said, in general you should never suckerpunch someone like that, no matter what is said in any situation.EDIT: It's a bouncers job to protect you and take care of the drunk people IE kick them out, it is not their job to attack them after leaving a club on their own, after accidentally knocking something over. You're right, I could have picked up what i knocked over but I didn't. The retaliation was hugely disproportionate to the offense, and that is exactly why I'm taking legal action. And to answer that other question, there's a chance I could get some money out of this, but it would take a LONG time and hassle, and I'm not sure I want to deal with that. The bouncer getting in trouble is mainly what I'm concerned with here...EDIT x 2: and Natural Law, whoever quoted that, is exactly that, law governing the natural state of nature, which we are definitely not in. We live in these crazy things called countries, where there are public servants who are paid to deal with people that take the law into their "natural" hands. If you want to live in a "natural" society go to Rhodesia.

lol...If I wore a fanny pack it would be to make my ass look bigger so people would mistake me for American :-)

I agree.Bouncers are allowed to be violent when the situation warrants (I don't think anyone would doubt that). They just tend to jump to the conclusion of violent action too hastily in many cases.I'm meaning, in those cases where you think violence can probably be condoned, just replace the bouncer with a cop and see if you still feel the same.

Do you see the contradiction here?Dude, you are lying to yourself along with us and it's very sad. Let me get this straight. You didn't say anything as you exited the bar. (left out what happened before you decided to leave) You knocked down the valet/rope/pole thing. (left out why/how you knocked it down and what proximity the bouncer was in relation to the pole) You continued to walk away. (left out the verbal exchange between you and the bouncer) You found yourself on the ground in a busy street after being hit in the head from behind. The bouncer shouldn't have followed you off property which puts himself and the bar in a libel situation. You probably were way out of line and would have gotten your ass stomped for real if that dude wasn't working. He's probably not working there anymore so congrats on that. You had more to do with the situation than you are revealing here.

I truly don't get how it's so difficult to grasp this...I was on my way out of the bar, which I've been at many times before, and have seen this bouncer many times before. I'm not sure if the guy was having a bad day or whatnot, but I guess me knocking the pole over and the thought of him having to pick it up after me must have made him snap. I'm sure it wasn't nice of me to just keep walking and not pick it up, but so goes life. There was literally 0% interaction between me and the bouncer, I mean, he could have thought I was someone who had said something earlier, but I hadn't. And my point earlier was just me generalizing, it had nothing to do with my situation, I was just addressing a statement someone else had made. If someone wants to fight fair, and both parties are willing participants, then I'm fine with that. I despise fighting, not because I cant, I'm 6', 190 and a black belt in Taekwondo, but I just think that it doesnt solve anything. And furthermore, when you suckerpunch someone from behind into the street, I maintain that no one deserves that no matter what they say...

Regardless if wood told the guy to fuck off and die, that is not a lawful reason to hit anyone so I really don't understand why this keeps being brought up. If wood hit the bouncer than fine, but I am studying law right now and I have yet to come across the page where a verbal attack can be defended by a physical attack without legal consequences.

It cracks me up because the way this story started it was implied that some innocent guy was walking past a place and knocking over the velvet rope & getting sucker punched. Turns out he was inside the establishment left on his own volition and knocked the velvet rope on the way.Wanna bet the OP was indeed drinking, was at least loud and obnoxious may have even exchanged some words with another patron or perhaps worker (if not the bouncer himself)?...again, not saying that it warranted a "Sucker Punch" but we're getting only a selective portion of the story.

Dude. You keep qualifying your story with this......what did you say (that shouldn't have let to getting you sucker punched)?

OP clearly forgot to add a small part to the story. It is true that he said nothing to instigate the punch, but he failed to mention the fact that he yelled "hey" to the bouncer and proceeded to show him the goat. In turn the bouncer became a bit jealous/hard and smashed him.

i'm gonna come to where you work and just knock something over and then walk away like whatever who cares. i kind of want to say you had it coming but i don't really mean that. and im with gwcgwc, i give it about a 85% chance that you are leaving out some vital detail that will make you look like a total douche

Exactly the point that I was trying to make to the people who were saying that some people deserve an ass-beating for saying derogatory comments, there is rarely, if ever, a reason to attack someone for a verbal offense. Sorry, but for those of you who disagree, please grow up...

I don't really see a reason to not believe rwood, but I don't really care. Here's a funny story, as to why I'm probably more likely to believe him.I was out at a bar one night, the same club where I got assaulted by the bouncer a year later, and I was literally just standing around talking to my buddy, just off the dance floor, about 20 feet from the entrance/exit. I was literally standing there sipping my drink, not hammered, maybe drunk, and they came up to me and immediately asked me to leave. I had not done anything obnoxious all night, even, lol. I'm sure if I put up any sort of fight, I'd have been assaulted again, but I just left this time. The point of the story is that bouncers do stupid ****ing shit without reason so many times.

Alright I give up, I cussed the guy out, spit on him, shit on top of the bar, and assraped his girlfriend right in front of him, THEN i knocked over the pole on my way out...It's pointless to argue, as I know what happened and the witnesses there gave the same statements, I truly did nothing else... It's funny how this is so hard to believe, I mean, I have nothing to gain by leaving something out, I could care less if people think I'm a douche on an internet poker forum, it doesn't really affect my day-to-day...

Amen. We live in a country where people are allowed to do all sorts of crap that burns my ass (like burning the flag) and not even the police are allowed to interupt this "demonstration". Also agree that most bouncers are hard heads looking for a fight and need very little if any provocation to do so. Good luck with the lawyers, OP.
