find a way to do a private tourney for $10 100sng and 1st prize gets your ticket..J
I was more just wondering if any AZ people from fcp are playing it....the getting rid of the ticket is an aside which i should be able to do relatively easily, if i need to.

1,050 x 450 is only 472,500. They're kicking in on it?
Yea...pretty cool of them but they've been promoting the hell out of it so you can bet the table games and poker room will be super packed over the weekend.

I"m not playing, cause I hate their tourney structures. But glglgl!Mark
Yea I was really excited when I won the satellite and was for sure gonna play in the tourney. Then I looked at the structure and was a little discouraged....I mean it's not terrible but after the first couple hours it's gonna be mostly pre-flop poker. Also, given that you have to make the final table to get more than $1500 (pretty sure the ticket could sell for close to that) I figure it might be better to sell it. Then again, $250,000. haha :club:

I wanted to play but didn't get my ticket in time, although I have a friend who has two and I may end up with one of them and play. I'll let you know for sure when I know.

Been debating on playing it, may go play a few of the single table satellites this week.
Well if he is telling the truth that it sold out this past weekend you might run into some problems with that.

WOW/LOL @ that payout structure.
I know right...it's why they can promote a $250,000 1st place prize.

I broke down and got dragged to play last night with some family in from Michigan. Only my 2nd session since the WSOP btw. (Broke even...meh)Found out this tournament sold out, but the structure and payout is beyond stupid.Folks in AZ would do much better by flying to Vegas or L A to play big tourneys. Why can't they get this right here though? Just take a cue from how other well run tournaments are structured and copy that model?Hardly rocket science. GL to anyone here playing in this. :club:

half the prize pool going to first place? Who runs some of these tournaments these days...
LOL, I worked on the advertising for this tourney. However, I only write the ads to help "promote the hell out of it." I can't take credit for the structure. In defense of that structure, though, all I can say is yes, the bigger the first prize, the faster in general it will sell out (thus the top-heavy structure). Big $ is the draw out here. Another area casino a couple years ago had a bad beat jackpot that grew to over $125K, and they promoted the hell out of it (rightly so). Of course, it only grew that big because it was almost impossible to hit with all the qualifying rules, but that didn't matter...their card rooms would runneth over until that sucker hit. I guess what wouldn't fly in the Vegas desert is just fine in ours.BTW, to the OP, I would love to play your entry for you. I was thinking, in honor of an earlier thread this week, you could just stake me with it. If I cash, you'll get the buy-in back plus, say, 40%. If I don't cash, well, we tried. Oh, and I need the money, so I will play just as goot if I wasn't staked. Have faith, my man, have faith.Sincerely,PotVersion1(obv sw)

It grew much larger than $125k at its peak. People were so sick. I remember players down at the fort would stay for 3 days straight not wanting to leave in case the jackpot hit. The place started to have a really 'special' smell inside. But back to the CA tourney. I still don't think the tourney needs to have this big of a first prize in order for it to sell out. Any tourney run at CA sells out from the daily $130's to the AZ Championship for the past two years. In fact, the payout structure was a big part of the reason I didn't play in it so a huge first prize doesn't necessarily draw in players. In the future, if you want to advertise the tournaments there better, email the schedule and results to john.grinzivich@corp.cardplayer.com. It will be shown under 'upcoming tournaments' on their and I know many people (including me) plan their schedules out based on what cardplayer shows.

Thanks for the info. And yes, I agree on your payout structure thoughts. That's just the word that I heard, and alas, I don't have a say. Can you link me to the proper website that the "upcoming tourney" info would be featured on? I will run it by my client if it looks good, and thanks again for that info.

I'll be in Arizona for the weekend of the 25th when the Chargers play a pre-season game against the Cardinals. I'm planning on making a trip out to Casino AZ, Mark, Nutz going to be in town that weekend?
