Brad Booth On Pad This Week...

Recommended Posts

Even though he faded in heads up play to Patrick Antoinious, Prior to that, I can't remember seeing some one play so impressively on TV before.. He got paid off when he wanted to be paid off, and bluffed so much, and it worked all the time. Not just bluffs, but he bluffed so many times when other people were weak, moving them off their hands. Just staggeringly impressive. He got alot of great starting hands, but he got maximum value out of them several times. For the first 3 episodes, he put on an absolute NLH clinic. I liked the way he played on HSP, but I think he's even better, now that I've seen him on PAD... so sick..

well he did get owned heads up i do believe... *trying to remember back to lastnights drunken mess*
Patrick Value bet him a great deal on the river.. Patrick A is one of the very finest heads up NLH player's in the world.. I don't think that takes away from the talent Booth displayed during the first 3 shows..

I don't think you're grasping what I'm getting at here... perhaps you are still drunk, or perhaps you are a high functioning autistic, so I'll explain again. Brad Booth, time and time again, during the first 3 episodes did play after play after play that just made me go "Holy Sh*t".. he ran some of the most amazing bluffs, and got huge value out of his big preflop hands, including a hand where he had AA and played it in such a way that it was an impossible hand to put him on, busting gus on hand 6 or so. Listen, I'm not saying he didn't get beat up some heads up with Patrick Antionus, but he also made a very nice lay down the second to last hand, and got a sick beat put on by Patrick A when he hit a 3 outer to knock Booth out of the tournement. What I'm saying is, Booth plays on a very, very high lvl of poker, and seemed to be playing on a much higher level than the other pros at the table. I know that's easy to say when you're getting lots of big hands, but it wasn't the big hands that were impressive, it was the way he bluffed and re bluffed, and re re bluffed that really took my breath away. You are displaying classic results oriented thinking. Booth didn't win the event, so he got WTF OWNED He FUKING SUX11111111!!!! And that's just retarded. If you can't appreciate the way booth played the first three days of PAD, you either don't understand poker, or you have a drinking problem ( My money is on both)

I agree with OP. Booth played really sick, the re-rebluff against Traniello with the 55, and against Patrick A with J9 were both really insane moves. He got awesome value out of every other hand he played too. I haven't seen the HU between him and PA but PA is one of the best HU players out there so I can see why Booth might struggle....But yea, I have a lot more respect for Brad Booth after PAD - I always thought he was a bit of a tool....

I actually was more impressed by him on HSP, but he undoubtedly played very, very well in PAD, he has a quite unique style. And I have to remember that "almost fold motion"-trick for the next time I play live. :club:

he made one hell of a laydown with the ace 7 when Patrick check raised him and than hit the diamonds on the river. He should shoved all in on the turn tho.Brad is a excellent player tho

He was very impressive, you're correct. The re-re-raise against Traniello with 55 was another example. And the AA hand made Gus look like he was playing in a $10 SnG on Stars.About the HU, yeah he did get a little run over, but it must be said that Antonius had a very good run of cards and caught most what he needed at the right times. After that, Booth started missing out on a few bets here and there... but that's understandable after someone holds over you like that consistently.

I also thought he played quite well, but one hand in particular I didn't like his play was actually the hand where Gus went broke. I really don't like the limp/flat call of the raise with AA allowing it to get 3-4 players to the flop. But I guess it worked for him that time so whatever. And yes...he did get absolutely destroyed when it got to heads up.

I'm officially a Brad Booth fan boy. He can bluff and he can make great lay downs. I don't know how he got away from that A-7 HU when Patrik runner runnered a flush. Patrik's a great player, but c'mon he hit a two outer against Marco to stay in the match and then a 3 outer to win it against Brad.

The hand would have been much more interesting had it come 9xx IMO. If Booth had "pulled a chan" in that scenario THEN I would have been unbelievably impressed.

I agree. And don't forget about the fact that Marco had 10's in the hand too. trapping is all fine and dandy until you trap yourself.

Not only can Brad play very well, but his table manners, the way he handles chips, the way he mucks his hand, etc, he does all that in a very stylish way. And he knows all the tricks in the book: pretending to muck AA to a min reraise by Marco, or pretending to call to get a reaccion from Patrik by grabbing a bunch of chips and throwing them on the table (but not into the pot), etc.

Doesn't he claim to have played poker everyday for 14 years? Come on, Christmas, Thanksgiving, wasn't sick one day, I don't believe it. I think he might have done some Tejada'ing, maybe got a deck of cards and played a fake hand just to say he played poker that day.

Did you guys actually watch the match and follow the hands? I am not a big fan of either player, but Antonius was hit with the deck BIG time...trips twice, turned a set against flopped middle pair, 4 flushes (1 was runner-runner against trip A's), 2 gutshots, pocket aces, 3 outer (KQ vs AK), top pair several times...and then the big suckout J3 over AJ when he rivers a 3. The only criticism of Booth was he continued to pay off value bets on the river. But can you blame him...how could PA have the winner every time?

I thought this play was very interesting.. in one of the interviews with Shana, he makes the comment that one of the goals of poker is to be deception... was it risky to take a flop 4 handed with AA? Yes, of course it was... but there was absolutely 0 way anyone could put booth on the hand he had.. how ever, if he limp re-raised preflop, then people could absolutely put him on AA or KK and get away from their hands.. it was a risky play, and it's value depends greatly on the player being able to get away from the hand when he thinks he's beat. It's not a play that I think I'm good enough to make with AA, and it's a play I see a lot of weak fish make AA, but Booth is not that, and I think the play smacked of Genius..

PA rarely, if at all, made a mistake during heads up. Did he bet with air and hit down the line? sure. Did Booth do anything to keep him from hitting those hands? no. The J3 vs AJ hand is the only real suckout of the whole heads-up match that the action dictated. PA pushes the action good enough when heads up that Booth played fairly scared poker early in HU, I thought, by just check-calling the whole way with top pair, 2nd pair, etc. and paying off PA on the river when he was beat.

Aww man, Tejada's a stud and played hard for 1000+, if they'd let him, he'd put a cast on and play. Gehrig batted lead off and sat immediately after during his streak, Ripken pinch hit or played an inning during his. Also, Booth played nutty good. Can't believe the laydown on w/ the 3 aces, though I agree I shove the turn there, but whatever he's way better than me.Seemed like PA had a big rush of cards heads up, I didn't see him bully Booth so much as turn gutshots or better hands. Or river 3's. I like Booth a lot after seeing him play on the shows, can't believe pros fall for the fake call/fold stuff though.

Here's the thing about shoving on the turn... what hand calls him that BB has beat? The board is AA K 10 ( I believe.. I know there was two other paint cards) and there was two flush draws. If booth pushes, PA yes will fold draws, but the only hands hill call with at min. Booth will be splitting the pot with... or it will be a straight, a full house or better trips... PA I doubt would pay off with two pair their. So by just smooth calling, Booth can save money while he's behind, and at the same time try and induce PA to bluff on the river if he misses his draw. I'm pretty sure Booth was planning to call on the river if a blank hit. Over all, I don't have a large issue with the way he played the hand.. He was trying to set up a bet on the river by PA, which almost surely would have come since PA has five high, and if misses can only win by bluffing..

So, when I read this post, I thought " hey, maybe I was a little too harsh in flaming this guy, maybe he was just joking around" but then I thought " Naw, he's an obvious d-bag, and probably trying to engage in a flame war with me drunk, so he deserves double scorn. " And then, I kind of forgot about it...but THEN I get this IM from Fitz
Hey so do u find it cute to clown on me in front of the whole forum . .. u make me very mad sir, i demand an apology !!!!!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAH AHahahah hahahahahhahah ahahah bwahahaha oh ****... this really did make me smile when I logged back onto FCP.. oh.. man..Do I find it cute? No, I find it incredibly easy, and I'm never one to hold back an easy cheap shot...If my posts made you mad, perhaps I struck a nerve, hit too close to home? I suggest instead of lashing out in anger, that you seek cognative specialist who can help you learn to better function with your autism. As for the apology, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were thou.

That 55 hand vs Marco's JT was unbelievable

I agree it is a verrrry risky play, but he did have relative position post flop in the sense that, following gus Hansen's imminent C-bet, he gets to act after the other players in the hand and he gets to see how they respond to gus's bet(s). The hand didn't end up playing out like that, but he still played the hand in a way that would have allowed him to get away from it if he needed to. As it played, gus basically gave away the strength of his hand, and once Brad was closing the action, he had an easy call to double up. Had Gus flopped a set, he likely would have gone broke, but if Marco had flopped a set, or PA flopped a big hand, Brad would have been able to get away from the hand.
