  1. I've played 10/20 at FW at least once a week for the last couple months. I buy in for a single rack ($500), as do many players. I always have about that much more in my pocket, although I almost never have to add on. Based on what I've seen, the 10/20 game is a lot less aggressive than 20/40, where it seems like it would be more difficult to sit with 25 bb.
  2. Don't listen to these donks. You played that hand perfectly and this is definitely the worst beat ever. Ever. That idiot cost you the 1st place share of $400,000. You might want to talk to a lawyer, and sue that guy-- not just for the money you lost, but also for the good of all poker players everywhere.
  3. Don't send the e-mail. If they're freaked out because a 40 year old showed up unexpectedly (unannounced to the parents), this is gonna weird them out even more. You have already come and gone from their lives, even if you did act like a prick. Move on, like I'm sure they did. Learn from it rather than complicating matters trying to undo it.In my honest (not trying to be mean) opinion, you need quite a bit more introspection. Not only about the racism bit, but also about why you shouldn't be hanging out with kids less than half your age. This is particularly true given how you totally fre
  4. Yeah but did you make them in only about 3 months?
  5. He's discussing it there for the same reason you're discussing it here: because he is a regular poster on 2+2. In fact, he was a regular poster there before winning the ME.
  6. I can't believe none of them have pointed out that calling KK with A8 isn't very good either. I guess I now understand the need for <sw> on even the most obvious post.
  7. I'd have to disagree with this, and I'd offer Tiffany Williamson as proof. She went very deep in last year's WSOP, and ESPN acted like it was all luck or something. She made huge laydowns (getting away from the QJ against Sheikan's AA, even though it was suited) and suffered horrible luck (running A8 into Raymer's KK and failing to spike even one of the 2 aces still in the deck), but still almost made the final table. Yet no one recognized her as the best female player in the world. I'm sure Tiffany could get away from Queens full when the river made a straight flush possible, too.
  8. This is less true than it used to be now that they've opened the new poker room. I play 5-10 or 10-20 every Saturday. I arrive around 5 p.m., and usually have a very minimal wait for a table--never more than 30 minutes. By comparison, you could wait as long as 4 hours for a 4-8 table on a Friday night in the old poker room.
  9. Just move your money someplace better, like FCP.I had this happen on Stars, when, during a 3 way pot capped on the flop and turn, a 4th party not in the hand called out, "someone flopped trips, someone else a boat, and the 3rd person turned a flush." Although he wasn't right (I flopped quads), I asked him to stop. He less than politely told me he was allowed to say whatever he wanted, so I reported him. Stars sent me a nice e-mail back telling me the player had been warned about the rules on discussing a hand he's not in.
  10. I've really enjoyed your updates Carol, and I hope they'll keep coming for the remainder of your trip. Great job in your first ME.
  11. I posted an off-topic reply while indicating I was done discussing the topic. Fine, I'll respond substantively one last time. You said there's been no scandal since the poker boom. This is false and irrelevant. Certain things about poker just come with the game, and the mainstream media ignores it. Just like you don't hear about infidelity in the NBA unless someone says they didn't consent or a player catches HIV. Chip dumping allegations are hugely scandalous, whether they allegedly occurred a couple of years before Moneymaker or not.You also said no one would buy a book from any one wh
  12. Tell you what; I'll learn to read as soon as you learn to spell. For my part, I'm done discussing this with you. As my post count indicates, I mostly lurk. I'm a big fan of DN's and have learned a lot from the strategy forum here, so I enjoy reading and will continue to do so. I don't usually post, but decided to chime in on this because I'm interested in this suit and in Andy Bloch, since, as my SN alludes, I recently graduated from Harvard Law School. Nice talking to you (sw).
  13. You're right KDawg, it's not. I meant some Bible-belt type poker fans might forget that poker players are professional gamblers and all that comes with that behind the scenes (including associating with certain people), as opposed to just being professional athletes playing under the lights of tv every week. I'll admit it's a weak point to suggest that's scandalous, though.
  14. Once again you've managed to reply without actually saying actually making a relevant point about the topic. At least you've moved on from ad hominem attacks like "moron" to unsupported assertions like I'm grasping at straws. My only point was (1) I don't see this scandal as being any sort of an obstacle to a lawsuit. Lying would be admissible in court only for very limited purposes (i.e. to impeach direct testimony); and (2) Poker has much bigger scandals in its past that haven't impacted these players' popularity.
  15. I meant with regard to the poker boom. Obviously the same doesn't apply to politicians, other athletes, etc. Can you imagine the interesting and sordid stories that must be in poker's history back when these guys were road gamblers travelling town to town to fleece people? Lying about a deal just doesn't seem like it'd compare to me. Cheating on your taxes is a whole nother matter, though. That'd certainly get certain people's attention.
  16. First of all, don't call me a moron. Second of all, you told me to read my own post. Why don't you read the very next sentence: "obviously, you know, there was a deal made, but the tax records don't show that and publically this person didn't say that." I think your interpretation of the facts is likely right, but it's far from clear because Daniel says two different things (see above). As far as "public image" from lying about a deal to the press/public, do you really believe that crap? Has the Travel Channel ever mentioned allegations that Menh Nguyen had chips dumped to him? Ever hear
  17. From the blog, word for word, "One case in particular, Lyle was telling me, someone filed their tax returns saying that they won X amount of dollars, and publically stated that, you know, they went out there, they didn't make a deal, you know whatever... tax records don't show that, obviously, you know, there was a deal made, but the tax records don't show that and publically this person didn't say that."I'm glad that's so clear to you that you can insult people, because it's not very clear to me what DN meant. If your interpretation is right, it'd make the lie even less relevant to the suit
  18. I don't see how it could be Annie Duke in the TOC. The video blog says the person made a deal that doesn't show up on their taxes. If you made a deal in a tournament that you won, but failed to mention it to the IRS, you would be overstating your income and paying the IRS too much (assuming the person had a winning year). For this to be scandalous, you'd have to make a deal, for example, to split 1st and 2nd place winnings, then report on your taxes that you finished 2nd and won that lesser amount.I'm no intellectual property lawyer, so I have no idea about the merits of the lawsuit. I do
  19. Really good read Carol. Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip; good luck in the ME.
  20. That's what I figured. I called. He flipped over J 9 Thanks,Mike
  21. 4/8 table. CO is tight (by 4/8 live standards) but not particularly aggressive. Table is 2 short (8 players) and playing unusually tight for the past couple orbits after a few big hands busted 3 players.Hero is Button with A A CO open raises. Hero 3 bets. Blinds fold. CO calls. (2 players, 7.5 small bets)Flop: J 10 4 CO checks, Hero bets, CO calls. (2 players, 9.5 small bets)Turn: Q CO checks, Hero bets, CO calls. (2 players, 7 big bets)River: 3 CO checks, Hero bets, CO raises, Hero... ??Every thing I have read says call here headsup, even if you're sure you're beat. I'm always
  22. Thanks. This is kind of what I hoped/expected to hear. I've got to get better at estimating these odds on the fly. I felt like calling 2 cold on the flop was terrible (and compounded it with a worse play on the turn), but when I look back at the number of bets in the pot it seems reasonable.
  23. Sorry, both the topic and the turn are errors on my part. I held QJs, and the turn was an 8 that did nothing for my OESD. I was so concerned with getting the format right that I didn't notice even bigger errors. Thanks for pointing that out.
  24. 4/8 Live game that has been fish-tastic. I donked this hand silly, so I'd like some help. MP3 is terrible and a calling station. Button seems decent, has been very aggressive, and dragging quite a few pots.Hero is UTG +2 with Q J UTG calls, Hero calls, MP3 calls, Button Raises, BB calls, UTG calls, Hero calls, MP3 Calls. Flop: K 10 7 (4 players, 10 small bets)BB checks, utg checks, hero checks, MP3 bets, Button raises, BB folds, utg folds, Hero calls, MP3 calls.Should I have folded here? Assuming MP3 just calls, I am getting 7 to 1 to draw, but 2 of my outs ( 's) might not be good, I
