  1. DN, I enjoyed your post and agree that bad players buying in for more is not an advantage. HOWEVER, players of equal skill buying in for more does give the person an advantage. As much as every poker player likes to think that they are the best, the fact is that most players are not. Therefore, it's hard to recognize when people are better than you, and so, joining a game in which someone has a HUGE stack can easily be -EV. The reason he has the HUGE stack could very well be due to the fact that he's a good player. If the BIG GAME change to 1-2k NLHE (completely hypothetical) and Chip Reese
  2. He still had a str8 draw on 5th street.... 1 bb isn't a bad price to pay to see one more card to hit his draw
  3. Ask yourself what you are trying to accomplish by raising...
  4. If the button is aggressive and will normally bet when checked to then going for the c/r isn't a bad play on the flop. I think I would bet out here although my decision would depend highly upon my opponents. Either play works... the best play simply depends on ur opponents. There's a possibly the button is raising because he hit 2pair or the q on the river, but I think just calling on the river is the correct play. He could have flopped the nut flush and was slowplaying. Usually a river raise given the way its been played signifies a strong hand. However, at 1/2 the player could easily be raisi
  5. I don't like the flop 4bet or c/r river...River- If your read is he missed a draw then he wont' call a raise. The play seems like chip spewage to me. Just a unnecessarily fancy move because you have aces. Aces makes people do stupid things. For some reason people think it's unbeatable. Either just call the river bet or lead the river first. Getting too fancy on the river is not +EV.
  6. Bet the river.I don't like the cap preflop. Once you did that everyone knew u had kings or aces. I think just calling the 4bet would've been better as it would've disguised your hand.
  7. When did this happen??? Is there an article on this somewhere?
  8. I just noticed today that Party poker updated their software adding sidebets, blackjack, and tournament deals...Also, I noticed that Empire isn't sharing the same cash game tables as Party Poker anymore... I play on empire for the rakeback deals... Does anyone know if Empire Poker severed its relationship with the party network??? Is empire done with party?I haven't heard anything about this yet...
  9. Call... at these limits he could have something like 107 or just a str8 draw. If ur beat u have plenty of outs.
  10. What are u guys talking about??? DN would have the worse hand with 6s full of aces and a q kicker while ted would have the k kicker.... Obviously DN knows what he's talking about and none of u do... I'll take his word over all of u anyday.... Best 5 cards + kicker. That's how it's played  .
  11. Yep ... but other than that there are just too many stupid people constantly flaming and posting nonsensical replies. Everything just becomes one chaotic flame.
  12. Don't 3bet that river. Although his flop play signified probably ace with good kicker... he's capable of having the flush or set. Usually players won't raise that river with a-x good kicker, but there are plenty of bad players capable of doing it. In any case, I would just call since theres not much value in 3betting here. If he's raising u with just a pair of aces on the end then I would target this guy and get involved in pots with him since he will make many mistakes for u later.
  13. bet/fold or check/call... in a big downswing check/calling is best. It is the safest play and will keep u off tilt. Bet/fold when ur running well and confident in ur reads (obviously u only fold when ur sure hes raising with the flush).
  14. I think the turn play is a bit too weak... but if ur just changing it up it's not a horrible play. U can't always do the same thing in every situation. NL especially.
  15. I honestly thought it was a joke..... till I replies and posts...
  16. I know there was a lot of discussion about matusow's cut in the main event, and I don't know if someone posted his confirmed %. Normally, I don't care enough to engage in any discussion about it... but naturally I was curious. So, I just found out today and thought I would share it. It's confirmed that Mike got 50% of his ME cash and 2 well-known pros backed him. I don't want to discuss or argue about it... just thought I would share the info... which is why im not posting in general forum.
  17. Who are you referring to when u say "Villain"?Easy play here... fold the aq face up on the river.
  18. standard assuming the button is a decent player.
  19. I probably make this call...If he pushes with qq/ak+ then it's a close one. Hard to fold for 2:1 espeically when it's only 31 more.If he would do this with jj then I would call for sure.
  20. Vs good players it's pretty obvious u hit a hand hard when u check that flop after raising preflop from the sb. It's good to keep the lead vs good players, but in this situation I don't mind the check since ur obviously not playing against good players. By check calling the flop it looks like u missed with ak or something, but he only has 25 left (I didn't count, just took someones word for it) so pushing in might be the best play here. I'd put him on a range of hands: midpair, 10, a-x, or bluff. So it depends, if u check call on the turn will he fire out no matter what on the river? If not, th
  21. Easy river fold. Those calls on the river in these situations is what keeps players from moving up and becoming better.
  22. bad c/r on river. Definitely -ev. Looks more like ur spewing off chips after a bad beat.
  23. It's a live game so let's play looser! Online is rigged so in live play u can play q7s and win with runner runners.
