  1. If that guy doesn't know you can see people's mucked showdown hands by checking HH he is an idiot. Software like PokerAce HU checks the history for you and displays what the other guy hand when he mucks. Nothing illegal about it.
  2. I've never even heard of 2/5 in a limit game. Where do you see this being spread? Are you sure it's not NL?
  3. I raise KQ from pretty much all positions if no one has opened before me. It is a hand I vastly prefer over ones like AJ and A10. Raising KQ in a weak tight game is the BEST option because not only are you getting hands like A7 and low-mid pairs to fold, it is easy to ditch if a reraise comes your way and the flop is bad. You don't feel commited against an aggressor because K high has no showdown value heads up. Btw AlanBostick, Malmuth and Sklansky advise playing KQ in EP and raising it from everywhere else in a tight game. They also advice RAISING KQ from EP in a loose game. This is straight
  4. Whats the point of the raise? Do you feel you have the best and want to knock others off the flush/straight draw?I don't hate the raise, I hate the turn check.
  5. I never consider any of my plays tricky. Tricky is all the high limit stuff I don't understand like 3 betting A high on the turn and chek-raise bluffing the river. I'm pretty sure getting tricky just loses you money at low limits. I don't checkraise unless I'm protecting a mid pair hand multiway or I'm heads up. Here's a story from the summer:I was playing 1/2 on Paradise and called a raise from the bb with J9c. Action was 5 way with me first to act and the preflop raiser last to act. Flop came 7810c and I've got the stone cold nut straight flush. Of course I check, and the flop gets checked
  6. McManus's book was crap. The parts about the WSOP were fine, except McManus tried to turn it into some kind of autobiographical self discovery opus when he was an inherently uninteresting person. He tried to make himself out to be some kind of balls to the wall gonzo journalist in the spirit of Hunter S. Thompson, and even actively compared himself to Benny Binion. Then we all got shown who the real McManus was on ESPN; a whiney, middle-aged white guy who can't handle it when a LAG decides to mix his play up at the poker table. The guy is a nit.
  7. I've had nothing but awesome experiences with PSO. The process is easy and the support forum is always pretty quick to help you out. Btw, make sure you take advantage of the upgrades they have each month, when you can turn your 6000 points to 9000 for certain sites. I never bothered with the nevada jacks because I already had a set of the weighted plastic ones from ebay. I'm sure they suck in comparison but I don't really care about chip quality for my dorm games. From what I hear they are a very good value as a promotion item though. In my opinion the best use for PSO points is the party pok
  8. Just give it up. You cannot argue with people like that becuase they want to live in thier own risk free little world.I've argued this point with one of my friends for 3 hours. He argued that my raising a nut flush draw on a multiway flop is a result of me having won large pots with it before, and hence is results oriented thinking and not actual good play. Meanwhile, he won't limp pocket pairs in a NL game because "the set just doesn't hit" for him, which was obviously mathmatical fact. We almost had a fight because I was trying to drum the math in and he only believes what he's seen the last
  9. I don't play any shorthanded limit but here goes. 1) I would have ended up giving it up. Board is pretty scary.2) I would have just called the raise and checked-called the turn. I'm not sure jamming here is +EV, especially since there's zero fold equity. Given the villian's behavior, he's going to be giving me all the action I want if I hit my hand, so why play into him with a possible inferior holding. 3) Given that the villian is shortstack and on megatilt, I feel he'd simply checkraise all in with any holding if I bet. I'd take the free cards and hope to hit. On a side note, the rake for he
  10. Uhhh....casinos ARE bad. All thier profit comes from the incentive of poor people trying to strike it rich without actual work. Some people enjoy the thrill, but there are tons of action junkies wasting away money that could be used to probably pay some bills or spent on family. My friend's family owns several Chinese restaruants, and inevitably come payday all the dishwashers, waiters, and cooks will take a hefty portion of a pretty meager check to go gamble it up. I'm not saying this is the casino's fault, but that's what they are there to do. Casinos exploit greed. It's guys trying to ge
  11. You do not need a mentor at these stakes. This is like getting a tutor for elementary algebra, especially since the low stakes tables in AC are some of the absolutely softest games around. Buy a book on low stakes holdem, or even just google a starting hand chart and go from there. SSHE is good for limit holdem, and Super/System 2 is a good book for stud basics (although I think it might only cover stud hi/lo). Beating the low limit AC games just requires you to have a half a brain and not calling down marginal hands. If you already understand the importance of position and pot odds from NL pl
  12. There are a lot more bad players in low stakes NL than low stakes limit right now, are you sure you wouldn't just rather move down to a level in NL games? You might be under the impression that limit requires a lot less money to play. This is wrong and it is a bad reason to switch games. Otherwise, everyone else's recommendation of SSHE is right on.
  13. I don't play shorthanded, but I'm just not liking this. Why no raise preflop? Flop: Why overcall here? If you feel your hand is best why not charge the draws with a check raise? It is almost impossible to improve your hand. All high cards are bad for you, low cards fill up low straight draws, and any heart is bad. Turn: What do you think thier hand ranges are? Are you still ahead with two overs? I'm feeling that this is not a value bet and you are trying to get them to fold the hand. What will fold here since all the good draws still have odds? Only hands that you have totally crushed will fol
  14. I'd still bet the turn. I hate that ace but when checked to I can't let the solitary club draw for free when I don't have one. River is fine.
  15. There are actually a whole breed of casino bonus hores who have made decent money at this. Just deposit for the max bonus, do some smart play at BJ at a smaller table, and then cash out once you've fulfilled the requirements. A lot of places allow you to cash out your desposit and play with only the bonus money, although I'm not sure about this anymore. However, it is pretty easy for casinos to catch onto this so beware of getting banned or having your bonus revoked.
  16. Aw crap, I told the FBI I wouldn't look at pictures like that anymore.
  17. That was one of the most interesting hands yet. I'd lay it down too with that kind of action. I've a super vulnerable 2 pair, I could be dominated already, and I'm not going to be thrill about ANY face card that comes. It was an all-in or fold situation and I think Wu's weird ass raise just threw him off. I think Wu pulled a limit move there. The raise with overs and a nut draw is okay there in a limit game, since you can be cleaning up your overcard outs against a jack and you're still getting odds if 3 bet, but in a NL game it doesn't do anything good unless you think it takes the pot right
  18. Man, it's called google. http://www.liveatthebike.com/webcast/index.php
  19. My understanding is that there is probably a couple minutes of delay, and I figure you are not allowed any electronics at the table anyway.
  20. It's a live internet feed from the Bicycle casino, and I think every night they broadcast a different variety of game. I only just found out about this but it's absolutely fascinating to watch. I tuned in to the 8/16 limit game yesterday and the people were so bad it was unbelievable. Tonight they're doing a 50/100 NL game with a 5K buy in, so it should be educational.
  21. Pacific games are indeed awesome. You can only play one table at a time but as long as you have another site running it's fine. I believe PSO no longer offers a Pacific promotion though, so you'll have to go the regular route.
  22. Absolute is known for its tight play at even the low limits. The majority of the players are there to get rakeback plus the unlimited reloads that they offer. I thought it was still pretty fishy when I was clearing my PSO bonus, but got out because the software was so ugly and slow. They actually changed the raked hand requirements recently so that the bonuses clear a lot slower, which is gonna force a lot of the bonus chasers out.
  23. AC is filled with gamble monkies galore on weekends. I'd say that if you are consistently beating 2/4 online, you can hold your own at pretty much any low limit table up to possibly 10-20. I've only played up to 4-8 because that's where my bankroll is at, but I've watched pink game at the Trop and wasn't impressed. The key is to avoid tables fill with old AC grinders.
  24. Been given like $10-20 by a poker site and just try and build that into an actual roll? I just found I had a free $10 from pokerroom and figure I'll try and grind it out. Usually when I recieve this I just use it to freeroll a tournie or donk shortstack at a NL table. Of course, I've pretty much wasted it every time but decided that I'm going to see how far I can go with this. This is going to be combination of massive discipline as well as luck since it's not a proper BR for any limit they offer, but I figure I will play one microlimit table on the side whenever I do my regular tables.
  25. Started out with $100 deposit on Party, wanted to see if I can make some money over the summer since an internship fell through and I was lazy. Played $25 NL shorthanded tables, and turned the original deposit into about $3200 with some regular playing and bonus chasing. This was from end of May to August. Since then I've played a lot less and switched my game to limit full ring. Started out at 1/2 and moved up to 2/4, which has been up and down. I've made about $300 since switch to limit, but I'm pretty sure my winrate is crap.
