  1. I'd go with commerce. Commerce is the biggest cardroom in the world (i think) and it is a really cool place to be on a busy night. One of the few places where you can find full tables of every limit at any hour of the day...great for all nighters! The place is full of Poker cosmic energy!!!Also, if you get hungry while you play, try the Beef Galbi (Korean Barbeque)...so freakin' good.
  2. Is there a difference between the Cardplayer magazine you get for free at a cardroom and the one you get as a subscription? The one they give out in cardrooms says "Casino Edition". Is there a different "edition"?
  3. Last I heard, Smash cehcked himself into rehab. That's just what I heard???
  4. Couldn't deception (a key component in poker) be construed as "shady"?He played within the rules of poker to win a big pot. I'm not defending his actions' date=' but he did take down that hand.[/quote']I didnt write that buddy...how do u mess up a quote button???Misquoting someone is also unethical!!!
  5. When you area a two time world champion, you can do whatever the hell you want to do.
  6. I've played more 2/4 and 3/6 holdem in the last two years than most people play in a lifetime. I seriously doubt this is true. In fact, I know it cant be true. I have never even seen or heard of anything close to this in my life. My best single day results, where I caught the most unbelievable run of cards, was $400 in four hours at 3/6. This was unreal and I haven't gotten even close to it since. $100 dollars profit average an hour...you are telling me that averaged more than that over a longer period. No way!!!
  7. I usually try to mix up the types of games I play. I only play Hold'em but find that I can make money at Live low limit (2/4, 3/6 & 4/8) cash games as well as online sit and go's and online heads up games. Whenever I run into a bad streak on one, I move to another to rebuild my bankroll and confidence. Plus, it has the added bonus of keeping me sharp and all three. Psychologically, it helps me refocus and forget about the previous type of game where I lost. Then I can play confidently and rebound.Try to mix it up...works great for me!
  8. I've heard that many of the top name players in poker (especially tournament poker) are broke. I'm pretty sure sklansky mentions this in one of his books and Barry Greenstein also claims this to be true. Does anyone know of any broke tournament players? Maybe TJ...I know he has a craps problem and doesnt do well in cash games??? Maybe McEvoy...haven't heard much about him and he seems to write a book every other week???Moneymaker???
  9. I'm glad you fully read and understood the original post!Helmuth did take a bad beat with his favorite hand: black nines. If they woulda held up they woulda been as popular as Doyle's T-2. Think about that...the helmuth hand.
  10. It all depends on how good a player you are. I started with $50 in one account and built it up to $700 in two months playing only sit and go tourneys. My recommendation would be to learn sit and go's. They are a safe way to build a bankroll. You only invest $5, $10 or $20 (those are the ones I play) and can win more with very little skill/strategy. Just remember to play tight at first and look for opportunities to steal blinds toward the end.
  11. I guess being a world champion with nine bracelets doesn't mean what is used to????
  12. I've heard that playing on two sites can cause your computer to crash. Does anyone play on two different sites at the same time on the same computer? Any problems?
  13. What does this have to do with poker???
  14. ...because it makes to much sense to do it that way.
  15. Does anyone know where I can get some flax seed oil *cough-steriods-cough*? My former supplier is having some..uhh...legal problems.
  16. Pretty simple really...just start the blinds REALLY low and make the rounds REALY long. Make sure you have plenty of chips...you are gonna need a lot of chips for the lower denomination blinds. Then you gotta have more chips to color up as needed.
  17. I've never been carded in a card room there, but almost always at the blackjack and roulette tables. The clubs also check and those guys can spot a fake ID. They are really good...but if you put a twenty dollar bill under the ID they are cool. Dont try this with anything less than a twenty...they'll take the cash and still not let you in.
  18. There is one called "The Blue Oyster" in San Francisco. You should definitely check it out. I think it is on Castro Street.Use the code word: High TowerTell them "Mahoney" sent you...trust me.
  19. hmmm... that's funny.... cuz I thought that when most people got past the full-blown rookie stage of their poker career, they stopped slowplaying aces cuz they were tired of being sucked out against by the big blind... guess i was wrong.Who said aces? Damn rookies always assuming! Do you know what happens when you assume? You make and azz out of you and...well...just you. Ever hear about kings, queens, jacks and tens? Maybe you limp in expecting a raise...like a low stack making a move or an aggressive player who always raises button??? Sometimes a limp reraise is called for. I dont kno
  20. Mr. Smash, for once, we are in total agreement.
  21. he doesn't have on overpair, he didn't raise preflop...No one ever limps in with big pocket pairs? When you get past the full blown rookie stage of your poker career, ask yourself this question again.
  22. Mike Matasow has won 2 bracelets. Also, wouldnt Dutch Boyd be one of the best?
  23. Sucks??? that was freakin' hilarious...keep them coming!
  24. Exactly...he's in his early twenties! Everyone seems to be jumping on his bandwagon and we know nothing about him. Everyone seems to be flaming Hoyt who has accomplished way more than JD. My whole point is lets not get carried away just yet with the new guy on the block. He may be the next big thing or a guy who just happened to make a couple final tables. I haven't seen enough and wont jump on this bandwagon without getting the full picture. I cant stand how everyone knocks Hellmuth (with nine bracelets) for his antics or Hoyt because he tried to make a move, got caught and then got luc
  25. So he is amazing for stuff neither of us have seen? Look, I'll admit the guy has skills but, at the same time, questionable behavior. I guess I just need to see more before I officially join the fan club.
