  1. there is absolutely nothing that you beat here...the best that you can hope for is one of them having a combo draw and the other one having a hand like A-5 or 3-3, that's the only scenario i can come up with where one of them, esp speaking about the BB, does not have a set...it should be a pretty easy fold
  2. now that we have stack sizes, agreed
  3. in this particular spot, if you think about it and reason it out, just calling is the best play by far...at most, he has 6 outs, but four-handed you would imagine he has a bigger re-raise range than just big pairs, A-K, and A-Q, so it's possible for him to have A-J, A-10, 7-7, and the like...it's a typical WA/WB situation usually, which is a perfect spot to just call...if a bad card comes off on the turn then you either cost yourself some money when he hit a card to beat you, or saved yourself that money if we were beat already and now the card scares us off...if a good card comes off then may
  4. well there aren't too many hands that contain a 4 or 6 that he could have called with pf...i think i would bet out 400 here and see what happens...if we get called then we slow down on the river, and if we get raised we probably have to fold...the hand to be worried about is 9-9, that is the approximate threshold for most people on pocket pairs that you might want to just limp with and try to flop a set, he could have 4-4 or 6-6 but you can't be too worried about that...we can beat a potential overcard float by villain, and we want to charge him if he did so
  5. there's your reason...there are hands we can beat here: J-J, 10-10, a random stupid minraise bluff, and also i think a hand like A-9 could also be possible here, figuring that he's against a very active opponent and that his hand might be good, but he wants to find out cheaply so he makes the minraise...i call and see what happens on the turn, if it's not a Q and he shows a lot of strength then we can safely put him on a set, since by calling here a hand worse than ours should freeze, knowing that we have him beat
  6. this is tough, he's either got the nut flush or nothing, assuming that he's a competent player...it really depends, as killrus said, on how aggressive this guy has been...will he take a stab on the flop if he flops an OESD or flush draw? if so, then calling is probably in order, since you would imagine he would either lead or c/r with the nut flush draw in that case...if not, then i think folding becomes the better optionwithout a read, i think there are better spots to put your money in, there aren't too many people going around making random river bluffs at this level
  7. NEVER minraise this flop, with the drawing possibilities you want to get a lot of money in thereas played, make about a pot-sized bet on the turnyou can't really bet the river once that card comes
  8. i agree with everything that has been said already
  9. i think you played the hand well overalli just can't imagine being beat often enough that we shouldn't consider betting, but then again what reasonable hand would pay us off? i think i check down, it looks like a busted draw here to me most likely
  10. as long as one of your overcards is good, mathematically then you should be calling(provided i'm not mistaken)...one would assume that this is true, so i think it's a call
  11. yea it's hard to imagine starting a third-stringer like hunt unless in an emergency situation that you shouldn't be getting in in the first place, i obv don't know the entire listing of available running backs but i still say turner would be a good optionwelker's value is very limited, he is their 5th WR...granted, the pats throw a lot of different guys the ball so he could get a few catches here and there, but most of his value comes in the return game
  12. i think you played it ok...i can't fold the river, the bet is just too small, if nothing you learned something about how your opponent plays
  13. i think you would want to re-raise just a little bit more, maybe $3-4, you should get a similar calling range and get a little more value overallas played, i would make around a pot-sized bet 100% of the time on the flop and hope he shoves a bigger overpairi shove the river
  14. as for the river play, i like the check...the board is coordinated with no one ever raising you and a complete blank coming off at the river, so you are most likely against a straight or a busted draw most times...the only hand that could pay off a bet would be a jack, and he might bet that for you then but won't raise if you make the bet, so i think i like the checkonce he shoves, it's a really gross spot, because his range doesn't change one bit in my mind, he could be bluffing, have a jack, or have a straight...i agree with acid, getting 2-1 and considering it looks so much like a draw, i w
  15. first of all, i agree completely with monix that 5 tournaments is nothing, it is not nearly a big enough sample size to determine anythingif there's even anything to your mini-pattern, i would say that perhaps you need to be a little more aggressive in the middle stages...this is when the blinds start to get bigger and it costs more relative to your stack to play, so that's when you need to turn up the aggression a little bit and open up trying to steal some dead money...i would suggest trying that the next time you play, but don't read too much into it either way, 5 tournaments doesn't mean m
  16. on the first hand, it could really go either way, i think i would prefer just calling most of the time since i would rather not build a big pot from OOPthe second hand is a pretty easy fold
  17. you committed 2800 already, you only have about 6k left, you say your opponent has been very aggressive...this adds up to a call for me
  18. i think you have to go ahead and get it all-in...the only way we are in really bad shape is if he has K-K with spades or K-K with a straight drawalso, this is a big hand pf, it's an easy raise imo
  19. i don't want to come off sounding rude here, but you are basically asking whether it is ok to trust your reads?as for the play of the hand, i agree with yahkin's assessment there, there's nothing he could represent...your call was logical
  20. yea, you're pretty short on chips, you can't just be folding to have any chance to win
  21. i think you gotta raise a little more pf, probably to $1.75 or soturn should be a fold, it is an ace >90% of the time
  22. don't minraise pf...just don't do it, everif you're going to lead out, bet a little more, maybe 400-500, or go for the c/r...if he checks behind you get a free card off, and if he bets you can go ahead and get your money in...i would just shove the flop after the minraise as played, since you're never foldingi am just curious...why would you make the minimum bet on the end like that? was it a blocker bet? if so, i think making the bet is unnecessary in this particular spot, i think it's quite obvious that he's got something based on the play of the hand...would he really minraise the flop and
