Then I draw criticism from him for not betting my quads for value. In my mind, I almost gain more value by checking in this situation. If he has a Jack, he obviously bets. Pocket Queens - he bets. But do you think that tv makes him look worse than he is? A lot of pros, especially DN, say they are friends with him. How could you be friends with someone who always acts like he supposedly does? To me, I think that he is made to look worse on tv.

You meant 10% up to $5. I have never played their but a $3 rake no matter what really isn't that bad. Most post flop pots are over $30. Look - you raise to $10 and get two callers. Their is $30 right there. I'm assuming that this casino isn't anything out of the ordinary so the 1/2 level of play will be terrible. Lots of limpers and expect large preflop raises. (8BB is normal) Just play tight and you should be fine.
