I read paul phillips' blog, not cause I am a fan but I find him to be quite unique. He basically gave up tournament poker back in 2004-2005 and decided to have a kid.. He basically got sick of the way things were run and decided there was other things he wanted to do. He has moved on to playing scrabble, raising his daughter, and recently set out to write a 50,000 word book in the month of november. He did play in the 50k Horse event at this years wsop. From the PPT last night..did they color down at the final 10?? the Blue chips were 1,000 and at the final table it appears they took them away and gave 500 pink chips. Ive never heard of this. I guess they wanted more chips for TV coverage??Also, Steve Brecher sucks, what a horrific call with QJhh when not even short stacked.

Nobody loves FT more than me, but that is not that impressive of a stat considering the amount of pros they have entered and the quality of their players compared to the rest of the field.

What I do for FRIENDS is a combo of backing/lending. I'm not going to charge a friend points, so if they lose money they owe me whatever it is i lent to them. But if they win, I expect my money plus a little bit of icing on top.For example, last week I lent a friend $200...he won a few hundred and sent me $225. But if he had lost it all, he only owed me the original 200. I think its a fair deal for a trustworthy friend

I'm an after 2003 poker player. I chose "I play other games" because Omaha hi/lo is my fav, but Id have to say I'm playing NL holdem 80 % of the time, Limit Holdem 15% of the time and omaha hi/lo about 5 % of the time. This includes tournaments and whatnot

No joke, people NEED to read the book. I got it like 2 months ago so I would finish it before the movie came out. I have never been a big reader, I hate reading, but the chapters are like 2-3 pages, so its a lot of fun and you feel accomplished after finish a chapter.I just kept it near the john and read it when I was taking care of business. Just when you think the book cant get any better....it does. I love movies but I would rate this book higher than 99% of the movies out there

I hear what ur saying....but think of all the hands the guy could have. 1010 on up,,,maybe a smaller set or some time of str8 draw with a pair. He happened to have the one hand that made DN an underdog. But he still had outs...Not sure of the odds, but something like 30% if the guy has that ONE hand...if he has any other, DN is a monster favorite

guy coulda been drawin with some whackiness or maybe had a high pair that DN knew he would call with. So many more factors play into the hand such as reads, tells, betting patterns and how the other guy had been playing. DN felt he had him right there and made his move. Even with the guy have the nuts, DN had some re-draws. Of all the ways to bust, it wasnt that bad really.Sets are like white gold, and quite hard to get away from anyways, at least add some fold equity
