Vegas Report (for The Second Time, I Lost All I Typed)

First let me thank all of you who gave me advice it was all great advice except for Teresa telling me to play that damn wheel of fortune game, it cost me a hundred bucks before I figured out I was betting $3.75 a spin and if I hit a wheel of fortune it on paid times a nickel, I hit a hundred and got back a cool $5!My wife and I got to Vegas Sat morn at 8:30 tried to check into the Monte Carlo but nothing was ready, they said maybe by 11:00, we were tired and wanted a nap and shower. So we cruise the strip waiting for our room and check out the Bellagio, Caesars, Aladdin, grab a cheap lunch at their burger place and try to get into our room, still not ready. SO we do a little more sight seeing, walking and shopping, I had bough some new pumas for the trip and they rubbed the back of my ankles raw, so we took a cab back to the Monte Carlo and the room was still not ready. So I decide to sit at a 1-2 game with my wife railing me as she had nothing to do, she does not enjoy gambling. After an hour or so she went to get some food and check on the room, she finally got into at 5:30 and I met her up there, needles to say we were both upset that we had been there all day and could not get into a room.In the meantime some hands: After about an hour of watching chatting and folding/picking up small pots I wake up with KK, take down a small pot with an average bet. A couple hands later the local to my right makes it 15 to go. I look down at AA and make it 50. He thinks and calls. Flop is 10-8-2 rainbow. He bets out and I make it $100. He thinks and says ok lets go and put me all in, I call and the turn is Q (thought for sure he had queens) river blank he turns up JJ and I double up. A few hands later I get AA again and pop it up for about 12, player to my left smooth calls. Flop comes K-8-3 rainbow, I check, he bets 25, I think then call, Turn is Q, I bet enough to put him all in, he calls immediately, again I think I might be up against QQ, he turns over K6, I cannot believe it and I am up about $350 at this point, I leave a little later to shower and get dinner at the brew pub.Brew pub is good food for cheap and the have 14 beer carafes they put on your table with a tap, it’s pretty awesome, it’s like a giant pitcher. We meet up with some friends who are local and I get conned into playing “Take white mans money” other wise known as Pai Gow, lost a bit there and black jack. That night I went back down to the card room and the cold deck started, I have AQ this guy would have AK, and so on and so on. I made some great lay downs and he kept showing me I was right, I was losing but playing great poker, then a small blind hand happens. Min raise I am in small blind and look at 10-4 D so I call as does the big blind. Flop is 4-7-7 two D. I bet out 10 big blind calls everyone else folds. I know he has a 7. Turn is my money card KD, gives me the flush, I am short stacked I push, insta call with K7 for the boat. I rebuy get down a bit and tighten up and bounce back to loose only $100.Sunday I was supposed to golf at noon at Wildhorse so a couple of us head out there and we get there and the winds are 40MPH with a wind chill in the 30’s and I am in shorts. We decide to sit in the bar and watch the Bears game (I’m a Bears fan so I am happy with this) they comped us lunch because of the weather. After the Bears whooped the Aints, we headed to Mandalay Bay where my wife and her friend were registering for their Redken Hair show. My wife is upset because her co-worker is being lame and does not want to do anything or spend any money. So we watch some of the Colts games. Lost some money at black jack; and head back to our hotel to get ready for dinner at the Mesa Grill (Bobby Flay’s restaurant). It was the best dinner we have ever had and I have had some great dinners in SF and Chicago. I had the tenderloin medallions and my wife had the dry aged NY Strip steak, which melted to the touch. The only thing that I wanted to do while I was in Vegas besides play poker was go to dinner where the have a sommelier, well they have an awesome one at Mesa Grill, his name is “The Todd” (if you watch scrubs that will be funny to you) at 24 years old this guy is already a wine master and the day before tasted 700 wines in 2 hours! He picked the best Spanish wine that was like a cab blend and paired perfect with our foods. He helped us figure some other wines that my wife may like to try and also helped my wife figure out she is allergic to alcohol! The wine we had was $135 but retail he said it would be $100, which is a very small markup for a restaurant. Our bill was $300 on the nose with tip and worth every penny! We headed over to the Shadow bar and got some drinks, I order some Captain and Cokes will my wife went to the restroom and a pretty not Vegas local sits next to me and starts hitting on me, once she realizes I am married she looks for another and then another with her friend. I think they were looking for some high rollers to but them drinks, which I am not! SO we hung out listened to a good mix of new and old hip hop and people watched and critiqued the figures, dancing ability and nipples of the girls dancing behind the screens. Good Times. After the we went to the hotel for some adult time, then in the middle of the night my wife gets completely sick, remember we just figured out she is allergic to alcohol, I am up all night with her and the next morning go to the pharmacy and get her some medicine. Luckily she is OK by midday and does not miss any of her classes.Monday I play in the Noon Casers tourney and bust out after about 2 hours and being card dead, best hand whole time was 44 and got in all in against JJ and I was gone. Now mind you I am whooped from being up all night, so I make the worst mistake a poker player can make, I sit down at a cash game tired and a little sick, I quickly dump $200 most of it on a semi bluff flush draw and overs and I miss. That was it for gambling Monday!Monday night we headed over to the Redken after party which we find out has Fergi holding an exclusive concert for all of us. It was the highlight of the trip, not only is she more beautiful in person (we were front row 5 feet from stage) she even sounds better live. I thought she might look a little tore up in person but not at all, she even shook her as at us and bounced her little boobies! And she had 4 black dancers, 2 chicks 2 dudes, the chicks got on all fours and their skirts flew up and they did that booty shake think OMG! Is all I can say!Now if you have never been to a hair show, imagine 10,000 women and gay dudes who all think they are hotter that they really are, and the hilarity ensues! We chilled out afterward, got some drink listed to a hot DJ and watched people embarrass themselves for hours, it was great.Tuesday I finally caught my wife’s cold a felt like crap, so when she went to her classes I just wandered aimlessly around Vegas not wanting to gamble because I am out of it. Finally around 3 I feel better and sit at the 1-2 at the Monte Carlo again, I grind out a $50 win playing pretty tight, only getting involved in one big pot which my trip 8 lost to 87 for a boat.Overall great trip, I won about $50 playing cash games but between stupid slots, blackjack, pai gow and the tourney I lost about $500. Next time I will make more time for cash games and not play table games. Fergi was the highlight of the trip and I need to thank the FCPer who recommended Mesa Grill, F***ing phenomenal.

Great story!! How did you like the Monte Carlo pokerroom?? When I was there last April I stayed at NYNY but played all my poker at the Monte Carlo. Love their pokerroom, tucked away in the corner, very nice, competition fairly soft. I played about 4 sessions of 1-2 NL appx 5 hrs apiece and ended up appx $500. Of all the casinos I went to Monte Carlo was my fav. Take careEd

Your right, maybe it was 773. Long weekend, give me some slack. I tried to remember the key hands the best I could.I actually loved the Monte Carlo poker room. Very friendly staff and players. (If you have not played live much this is the place to go, they are very niove and will help out player who do not understand poker room ettiquette and they will not make you feel stupid for it, I saw a couple people sit down and not know betting structure and how to get a seat, kind of like the Greg Raymer commercial) I like to chat with people when I play cards like that and some of the tables we had full out poker/sports/political conversations. Caesers card room was awesome, but much tougher players all very LAG so hard to pick up pots when 3-4 people are in for $15 in a 1-2 game.Overall the Monte Carlo reminded me most of Tahoe with the openess and not very flambouyant and very comfortable, but their hotel staff can't take it the pooper, they sucked!I am orig from Sacramento area, and really wanted to check out the palms becasue of the Maloofs. Overated, unless you are there to party with singles only, there poker room is a joke! It looks like a night club not a poker room, Monte Carlos poker room was all rich mahagony and want you would think an old poker room in the back of a country club would look like, except some of their tables had wood rails and I did not like that because the cards would tip up.

So someone gave you the dreaded "Wheel of Fortune Slot Virus," the horrible disease that makes you crave a SPIN symbol on the third wheel so bad that you'll sell the shirt off your back for another max credit pull. I happen to be a carrier of the virus but I haven't suffered the negative effects yet. My first big "Wheel" win was at Caesars Indiana, on a $5 machine I won $1,000 mostly without spins. My second big Wheel win as at the Bellagio. It was my first trip to Vegas, the first day there, and the first casino we went in. I sat down at a $1 machine and it was hitting SPINS like crazy. Eventually I hit $500 on a SPIN. My third and biggest Wheel win was just last month at Belterra Casino in Indiana. It was a $5 machine and I only had a slot ticket worth like $150 (which is only 10 max credit pulls). On my third pull I hit a SPIN worth $250 which gave me enough credits to play for a little while. Luckily, I didn't need that long. The machine was absolutely smoking and through a combination of small SPIN wins and normal 777 wins I was up to $800+. Then came the money shot. I hit a SPIN, pushed the SPIN button, got up out of the chair and turned my back (because I had been hitting so many small amounts on SPINS and was a little discouraged even though I was doing well). When the wheel stopped I turned back around and it was stopped on $2500, which is a lot of money to me. I also still had the $800 left on the machine but I ran it down to $500 for a grand total of $3000 on that machine (well minus the $15 I had to pay in Indiana taxes but I didn't mind ha). Hopefully my "these results aren't typical" message won't spread the virus.

So would you say you had a ....plethera of fun?
nh, sir :club: Caused me to google "Three Amigos Quotes"El Guapo: Jefe, you do not understand women. You cannot force open the petals of a flower. When the flower is ready, it opens itself up to you. Jefe: So when do you think Carmen will open up her flower to you? El Guapo: Tonight, or I will kill her!and...Rosita: I was thinking later, you could kiss me on the veranda. Dusty Bottoms: Lips would be fine.

Sorry if you've said before....where exactly are you from? I lived in Auburn/Lincoln for 23 years before moving to Spokane in 2001. Ever get back there there's a fun poker room in Auburn, Dueces Wild. Very good NL games...200 max., 500 max and 1000 max...they also play omaha fairly regularly.

When I was in Vegas over New Years my friends definately got that Virus. The first day 2 of them hit 1000 dollar spins, kept them going the whole weekend. By the last day, one of my buddies was pouring 100 after 100 into the $5 machine. 15 bucks a pull. Ended up that the Virus got them more than they hit the wheel. That game sux, as a suggestion noone ever play it and if you do and hit, go buy a hooker with it, cause at least you'll get something out of the money.

OP, here's a tip for you when making long posts or emails using Web-based clients --> Highlight everything you've written and right click and Copy just before you click Send/Complete. That way, if the browser somehow craps on you (like it always does everytime you've written something really long), you still have it in the "Paste" memory.Anyway, nice read. The Wheel of Fortune game is indeed very fun. My ex-gf and I played a ton of WOF slots in Vegas and made slightly more than $200. The 1000X payoff spins are indeed sweet...

Drati, if she was a hooker she was the worsed dressed Hooker I have ever seen. She was in Jeans and a black knit sweater. Fairly attractive, early 30's, but it was a dark bar.My wife and I played a game during the week called "Hooker or Hair Dresser" it was 50/50 many times...When we were at the Fergi concert that didn't work any more so we played spot the Straight guy.As far as the Alcohol goes, she can drink, in moderation and no mixing what-so-ever. Some wines will have a higher alcohol content becasue they have a 1% variance at the winery so if she gets a batch that is higher it can mess with her. Same goes for ahard lcohol, although I do not know what the variance is there. On sun night, we started with a before dinner capn & coke then split a bottle of wine as stated above, then had a couple more capn& cokes at the bar. I had more than her. She mixed and it f'ed with her bad.Baloon Guy "Yes, we h ad a plethora of fun and unfortunately spent a plethora of money"

Clearly the 'white man' does not know how to win at Pai Gow. :club::D :D (j/k, j/k)(Clue: Kickers are only useful in the 2-card hand. Put them there :D )
