4.4 EXTERNAL PLAYER ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS (EPA). PokerStars prohibits External player assistance programs ("EPA Programs") which are designed to provide an "Unfair Advantage" to players. PokerStars defines External to mean computer software (other than the PokerStars game client provided by PokerStars), and non-software-based databases or profiles (e.g. web sites and subscription services). PokerStars defines an "Unfair Advantage" as a User accessing or compiling information on other players beyond that which the User has personally observed through the User's own game play. We encourage you to read our Prohibited Programs FAQ. 4.4.1 AUTOMATIC PLAYERS (BOTS). The use of artificial intelligence including, without limitation, "robots" is strictly forbidden in connection with the Software and the Games. All actions taken in relation to the Games by a User must be executed personally by players through the user interface accessible by use of the Software. You agree that PokerStars may take steps to detect and prevent the use of prohibited EPA Programs. These steps may include, but are not limited to, examination of software programs running concurrently with the PokerStars Software on the User's computer.

And it would be web based, not software based.
read qyayqi's post again. The terms of service specifically mention web sites and other subscription services. And I wouldn't count on Stars not scanning your web history. But the real problem is something else: how would you go about obtaining that data? If you're planning to mine this on your own, it's both costly and in violation of this clause:
4.2 PERSONAL USE. The Software is intended solely for your personal use. Commercial use of the Software is strictly forbidden. The User is only allowed to wager for his/her personal entertainment. Under no circumstances shall a User be permitted to use his/her "real money account" with PokerStars for any purpose other than for playing the Games. The User agrees that his/her use of the Games is in a personal (and not professional) capacity.
And if you're not mining actively (e.g. by getting hand histories from members), how will you ensure data integrity and coverage?I agree that this - while unethical - would be great to have, but I don't believe that there is any reasonable way to actually build it.

there are already sites that datamine every table on party, stars, fulltilt and others. i saw an ad for one of the programs in a poker mag this summer. its a webbased service that has a program you download. it will find the fishiest table for you automatically based on criteria you set. its about 20$ a month for 200$ NL and below and 50 above. ill have to find it againpatrick

Like I said in my earlier post, I received a pop up warning message from PartyPoker after using PokerProphecy's web-based search. So clearly, they were scanning my computer and found that my web browser was set to PokerProphecy. So I'm guessing that other major website do this as well.

brantford>rama. AINEC. brantford is honestly the best run poker room i've ever been in anywhere, and i made sure i let the floor people know that on a regular basis. if they only got automatic shufflers....i think the biggest problem you might run into is that the sites would find out if it got too big, and they'd try to get you shut down. i don't know if that would happen, but it's at least possible.i'd be absolutely certain that if you advertised it well enough you could make lots and lots of mobney.
We do have auto shufflers........2 tables have themalthough nothing but complaints.... the dealers nor the players have liked them...

really? i moved out of hamilton a while ago now, but i haven't ever heard of anyone hating automatic shufflers once the dealers get used to them. of course there's growing pains involved, but the fact of the matter is that those things work faster than even the best dealers can (and yes, the brantford dealers are by and large very very good).do you work there? i used to go there quite often. i might have known you.

I loved playing on the tables with auto-shufflers when I frequented brantford casino. Now they usually reserve it for higher limits, and I generally play 5-10. But since I apparently suck at limit, I usually now just spend an extra 20 minutes driving and get to Niagara instead.
