Thinking About Going To Vegas For First Time

Recommended Posts

I am considering going to Vegas with my girlfriend soon. Few Questions though:!. Where to stay? I don't imagine i'll be spending a lot of time in the Hotel, so I don't necessarily want a 5 star place, but I don't want a dump either. 2. How much spending cash should I expect to have? I'm no baller, but I don't want to bring $1,000 and be out of money after one day.3. Anything else? Best time of year to go?

Bringing the Girlfriend to vegas... bad idea but.... never the lessIf you want to stay on the strip pretty cheaply, Ballys or the Flamingo are nice places that arent too expensive. The last time I stayed at Ballys it was about 80 on the week days and 150 on the weekend. Somewhere around there. Also, I have stayed off the strip at the Orleans and that was really cheap. They also have a free shuttle to the strip and some other casinos.Money wise, depends on what you wanna do. If you wanna go to shows and out to nice resturaunts and play casino pit games you will need more than your run of the mill poker trip. So, more information will be needed there. I always have gone late in the summer both because it is cheaper and its at the end of the WSOP and the poker games are still super loose. Also, Its vegas, any time of year is good but I would suggest a time when the pools are open.

You should date girls under the age of 21, so when you want to go to Vegas, they can't go.
Nice.Ok guys, leave the girlfriend. I can probably go with friends. And upon remembering my brother lives in Las Vegas with his girlfriend, I assume I will have a place to stay whenever I want. So, scratch my first question. I don't plan on playing table games, but going out and poker are definitely necessary. How much $ do you recommend? (No 11 brazillion dollar answers please, I don't have that much.)

you're really not helping much with saying what you want to play, how long you're staying, etc etc.if you want to play 1/2 and are staying for a week, bring about 1000 just for poker and if you're halfway competent you should be fine.oh, and bring the gf if you want, i can take care of her while you're playing poker :club:

Depending on the limits you are playing it will be different. But for going out, just think of how much money you need to go for the same amount of time in a city like Chicago or any major city and multply it by at least 2. Drinks and covers are pretty rough in Vegas. Just an example of how its more expensive, for tickets to the Blue Man Group in Chicago would be around 55/person but in vegas its close to 100/person. I went for 7 days for a poker trip/ my 21st birthday a few years ago and I spent close to $1000 on drinks and food(if you can consider McDonalds and Subway food). Luckly, I won money on that trip too so I ended up making money. So, hope that helps...

I take minimum $500 for gambling and expenses. edit - that's PER DAYWhen the max buyin even for 1-2 NL can be 200-300 at most places,I think taking 1K for a week as someone else suggested is a little light. Two bad beats early on could put a big damper on your week in vegas,When your KK loses to some donk that calls you with AJ offsuit preflop, for all his chips (it's happened to me) And you're down to $700 withinan hour of your arrival, it's gonna make for a loooong, hungry stay in LV.

QFT. I went in august with $1k and lost with KK and AA in my first 12 hands on thursday at noon. was down to $750 and it sucked. (I battled back though and ended up in the black for the trip) I'm going again on thursday with about $1400 but I'm going to play 3/6 limit for the first day I think.
