How Do You Handle Frustrating Tourney Exits?

Recommended Posts

The person did have an open-ended Straight draw but still I totally madethe right play here, was probably a 3-1 favorite and I still lose. I hate these, especially when it would have put me in pretty good position in the tourney....#Game No : 4894746574 ***** Hand History for Game 4894746574 *****NL Texas Hold'em Trny:27036725 Level:13 Blinds-Antes(2000/4000-100) - Monday, August 07, 01:24:44 ET 2006Table Regular(787648) Table #2 (Real Money)Seat 1 is the buttonTotal number of players : 9 Seat 1: Jebsky ( $62759 )Seat 3: bluffs2004 ( $28196 )Seat 4: Radiodog69 ( $22285 )Seat 5: michael104 ( $94755 )Seat 7: atc_und ( $46019 )Seat 9: vandyfan34 ( $33619 )Seat 10: Jlpettycoats ( $87266 )Seat 2: jwaldie ( $6556 )Seat 6: ImWoman ( $32112 )Trny:27036725 Level:13Blinds-Antes(2000/4000-100)Jebsky posts ante [100].jwaldie posts ante [100].bluffs2004 posts ante [100].Radiodog69 posts ante [100].michael104 posts ante [100].ImWoman posts ante [100].atc_und posts ante [100].vandyfan34 posts ante [100].Jlpettycoats posts ante [100].** Dealing down cards **Dealt to bluffs2004 [ Ah 9d ]Radiodog69 folds.michael104 folds.ImWoman calls [4000].atc_und folds.vandyfan34 folds.Jlpettycoats folds.Jebsky folds.jwaldie folds.bluffs2004 raises [6000].ImWoman calls [6000].** Dealing Flop ** [ 7d, Td, 9h ]bluffs2004 is all-In [18096]ImWoman calls [18096].** Dealing Turn ** [ 9s ]** Dealing River ** [ Jd ]bluffs2004 shows [ Ah, 9d ] three of a kind, nines.ImWoman shows [ As, 8c ] a straight, seven to jack.ImWoman wins 59092 chips from the main pot with a straight, seven to jack.Player bluffs2004 finished in 66 place and received $7.65

Just started using the whole M strategy recently in tournies, but I think instead of just raising you should've pushed all in preflop. By just raising here she calls and she figures if she gets any piece of the flop she's calling/pushing. She may have called you or she might not have called if you pushed all in preflop. But I think from reading about the M strategy that you should've pushed preflop.Am I correct about this? Like I said I just started reading the HOH2 on M.I've been using that strategy when blinds get high and I get kind of low and for the most part it seems to work.

if losing with A9 to A8 makes you frustrated you have a long way to go.who cares if you lost a hand? you shouldn't. what does it matter? its a card game and while the cards even themselves out over time there are times where you are going to lose when you got your money in with the best of it. try not to think of it as a bad thing that you lost. if its a 500 person tourney there are going to be 499 losers, but that is totally inconsequential to the way each of those individuals played.just wait until you get a real bad beat to exit a tourney then come talk to us.my real answer is that there is no such thing as a frustrating tourney loss due to bad cards. more often then not i am frustrated with myself for being in a position where i could get knocked out by a donkey.it puts a fire under my *** to go out, study the game, play tourneys better, never miss a situation to pick up chips, and hopefully my results could begin to show that.hope this helps. :club:

Your raise pf isn't good..Your best bet is to either push, which I would do w/ an M of 4, or check and evaluate a flop..What happens when you brick that flop? Check/fold would suck, as you leave yourself then w/ an even lower M of 2.5Also, I don't deal w/ frustrating tourney exits cuz I win them all! haha just kidding, I know how that is, I took 3rd in a $22 180 person sng last night that I felt I should have won

I'm almost immune to it. I play lower-limit stuff. People do really, really stupid things that end up beating me through blind luck. Now, I swear a lot and go play video games for a while afterwards.
