Dumbest Things A Dealer Has Said At The Table...

Recommended Posts

This thread is funny and disturbing at the same time....But what's even funnier, is some of the people who are posting who I am quite sure would be making the same mistakes as the dealers.Let me clear a few things up.Show one, Show all.... Applies in the situation that you described about showing a neighbor a card.Show one, Show all (both).... does NOT apply to showing both your cards if you win without having to show it down. You can show whatever the F you want. You already won. *Just show the whole table*A239 is a complete trash hand in Omaha. That's all I remember for right now.

There is one female dealer at the club I play at that has a really interesting habit when a split pot comes up. She'll divy up the pot, and if the small blind makes it uneven by a dollar she sends even money to each player and says "Extra buck goes to the dealer" and drops it in her till as a tip.We all just laugh whenever she does this because someone once told her that's how it works, and she doesn't know any better. She's cute and innocently doing it, so we all let it go. Funny thing is, her brother deals there part time and he's adopted her thing, but he knows it's not how it works so whenever he says "Extra buck goes to the dealer" he flashes this little wry smile for all of us that know the deal. I get a kick out of watching the older cranks *****, but they won't speak up as they aren't sure of how it should be handled.
At least they say something.I've seen them do that without actually saying anything, lol.

I was playing in a tornament in the sahara. on a king high flop player A bet and player B folded. Player A then flashed a king as he mucked. The dealer who had already made several mistakes grabbed player As cards and said if you show one card you have to show both and turned over both his cards.
I was playing in a tourney at The Grand in Tunica and the tournament director said the exact same thing. The dealer said it initially. I went on and broke it down even more and they both repeated the same thing. If you show one card you have to show both cards. I kid you not

Next time tell them that if the saying would be "Show one, show BOTH" if it was referring to the cards. "Show one, show ALL" just doesn't make any sense when referring to 2 cards.

Suite Up - I agree with you but this is something that has changed at least for that one day at The Grand in Tunica.Show one, Show all.... I was at Windsor casino playing 1/2NL, and a previously stated scenario came up, where i was last to act, and the dealer, seemingly on 10 cups of coffee and a bottle of caffeine pills, pointing at me and even though i reached for chips, acknowedged a check. Is it proper protocol after that happens to call the floorman over, have him reshuffle the deck, or just use that card as the next burn???BTW, I think it's horrendous that this happens. He shook it off and really didn't pay my comments any attention. A bet on any street could be the difference between winning/losing a huge/small pot.... Redonkulous.

I told him that I always thought show one show all was a player only wanting to show his cards to one person and not everyone. He said he knew about that one but this was different.I think they're going crazy down there.

The card should be placed back in the remaining deck and reshuffled, so that there is an equal chance that the same card will be placed on the board again. Otherwise, it may affect the outcome of the hand even further.

This should probably go in the fish thread but....home game last week, I suggest a H O S E game and get 5 agree so we have two tables, one of NL HE (what else) and one H O S E table, both are 5 quid with rebuys for the first hour and 3 places paid and we agree to join the HE table for final 6 and play.game is Omaha PLI am UTG and call with A 9 2 32 callersboard comes A 4 6I bet and get one call and one foldturn comes an Jriver a 10I check the turn and call a small bet on the river and my friend flips over A 10 4 6 for two pairsGuy who's dealing declares '3 pair' and pushes the pot to my friendI question this saying 'yeah he wins but he's only got 2 pairs, aces and 6s'. He says, 'it's Omaha, you have more cards!'he didn't win the game!
doesnt the friend have 4 pair?

Yeah, but the re-misquote of the hand "Aces and sixes" is still funnier than what the dealer did.

I was playing at a local dogtrack in florida, (very donk-filled 2/2 LHE game), and I saw a dealer shuffle the old fashioned way (half the deck in each hand, and the bridge), so I called the floor over and he said "He can shuffle how he wants, as long as he doesn't expose a card and uses the cut card." I got up and left immediately after.****ing Florida and this low limit ****. I should stick to the boats.
