i never thought, as a pens fan, that i'd do this

But I had tickets to tonight's Bruins/Pens game and gave them away. I could have gone, but turned them down. It's just not fun anymore. I drive an hour, watch a lousy game where the majority of the players have no heart, and drive another hour back all the while wishing I hadn't bothered. It isn't like 2 years ago when they sucked, but were still fun to watch. They had a young team and lacked experience, but you knew they wanted to win. I just can't justify watching the line-up they have now. Especially after the Steelers won the Superbowl, it doesn't feel like I "need" to watch the Pens anymore, and that depresses me.Maybe I'll feel different after the Olympic break, but it'll take a lot.

But what about the concessions? Nothing like watching your team lose while paying $7 for a domestic beer that helps pay for an overpriced goalie's new contract like at the Shark Tank.
Lol it's 10 for a beer at Staples Center.

That's why I bring my flask along and buy soda. Nothng like watching a live hockey game, drinking a 24oz Coke with 7oz of Jack in it. Yeah, I'm the guy that got convinced the team needed me and tried to jump the boards...I admit it.

8.50 for domestic beer at GM place. I don't think it is possible to get a flask by security here.
Really? Sabres security doesn't even check, as long as you have a ticket you're ok by them...

Yeah Saddledome is $5.25 or $6.50, and the beer is like heroin! So addictive, watered down, yet two or three get you out of control. I've had some bad experiences. I used to always sneak in a 13oz of rye too, but my idiot friend got us busted once after his fell out of his sock. Oh well. Nothing more priceless than pissing on the Saddledome while wearing a Red Wings jersey as 100's look on in disgust!

What's interesting is in the penthouse suites I can order beer for cheaper than buying it downstairs. I can get a 6 pack domestic for $21 or imports for $24 and get it delivered straight to the suite. Plus they're in glass bottles.

ajs proving why he is my hero yet again.OP, I completely understand the mentality. It's a five hour drive to St. Louis from here and it's been three years since I've seen a game in person. The Savvis center isn't particularly impressive and the owners have been attempting to dismantle the team for the last few years. I'll go back when the ownership wants to win again.

I've been to 4 Pen's games this year and they all have been good. Sure the are 1-2-1 in them but I can't realistically hope for much more.I've seen games that seem like they don't care but I guess I'm lucky enough to not have witnessed them @ the game.12/17/06 @ Buffalo - 4-3 L - Awesome game as Crosby scored a highlighter but the game tying goal was snatched outta the air with an unbelievable Biron save. Then I went up to Casino Niagara and won $400 playing 1-2 NL. 8) 01/21/06 PHI - 2-1 L - was a real close game against a good team. The Pens had a flurry of scoring chances late in the game, but could not convert for the tying goal.02-04-06 NYI - 5-4 L - tied it up in the final minutes of the 3rd period, dominated the OT but couldn't score and then lost the shootout.02-11-06 @ Washington - 6-3 W (and it wasn't as close as the score showed) - We sat right below the Pens radio press box and could hear our chant's of "Crosby's Better!!!" on the radio.

The line up they have now has 2 of the best young players in the league [ Sidney and Marc-Andre] ,and will have Evegni Malkin next year. Just cuz there not winning dosnt mean there not worth watching

Young talent is all well and good. That alone got me through last season, since I knew they had no shot at the playoffs. I enjoyed watching the games anyways, since they made up for their lack of talent and experience with heart and effort. This year, that part of their game has been absent. Sure, Crosby tries, but he's also taking his team out of the game with stupid, ill-timed penalties. I'll admit - I went to the Ottawa/Pens game last night. I saw 20 minutes of good hockey. It seemed like they were just going through the motions for 2 periods until they decided to start playing in the 3rd. They came back from a 4-0 deficit to finish the game losing 4 to 3. If they could maybe try 3 periods in a row like that, I wouldn't mind the constant losing as much. It's the losing combined with lack of effort that I can't stand.

i've gone to four games this year so farsaw them win their preseason finale against the caps... that was a fun game, but a lot of the stars didn't play, and kolzig wasnt in goal for the caps, ovechkin didnt playsaw them lose 6-3 to the devils early in the season... thank god for student rush tickets though... 20 dollars for 80 dollar seats... they had hope for a bit in this game and let it get away at the endsaw them beat the devils 4-2 i think around christmas time.. .this game was awesome and i think was one of the best games the pens played all yearI also saw them lose to the canucks on january 16th... The canucks however are my second favorite team, and it was duffel bag night... so there was no way i was going to be sad about who won this game.... I got to see the canucks play which i hadn't been able to see since the mid to late 90's (it was the game where lemieux scored his 600th goal)i'll still go to a few pens games, and watch them on TV... but since the canucks arent bad and the pens are... at least i have something to look forward to this year

I was at 2 of those games you mentioned - the Caps game and the Devils game. The Devils game was awesome since my gf at the time (ex, now) was a Devils fan and came along :club:

Its obvious that DOOX isnt a real Penguins fan...He GAVE AWAY tickets to a Boston game because they are lousy...Well it looks like DOOX will be getting ready for Pirates training camp as the team is lousy again...Lets just say, unless its a family emergency I would NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER give away tickets to a Leafs game...Now who is the ass clown

you are mean...with the demand for tickets to the Leafs, they should have a questionnaire and a lie detector test before they let people in..hmmmnot a bad idea..
