AceyDucey 0
So i bought in to the Sams Town Thursday Night tournament last week.Buy in is 63 dollars with 1 40 dollar rebuy. As soon as i sat down i bought my other 40 in chips.I got my table...and the tournament started. I was folding the majority of my hands, watching the table, etc...waiting for my spot.I picked up AQ off suit on the button, and raised it up 3x the blind. Got one caller...the fiesty grandpa (he had been overbetting just about every pot, and people folding to him). Flop gives me nada...my only hope was runner runner for a flush, or an A or Q to come. I bet out again to see where grandpa was at...and he called.Turn brought another Spade...Grandpa checked, i put out a pot sized bet expecting him to give up here...he held it, and called the bet again.River brought my last spade giving me an Ace high flush. Grandpa checked and i pushed all in. This is where it gets tricky. After i pushed, grandpa says, "nice hand, take it" and went to grab his cards as if he were mucking his hand. I flashed my Ace to make the nut flush, and he pulls his hand back and says, "oh im not folding", then "dealer isn't his hand dead, he showed a card before action was complete" The dealer, not wanting to rule against the old man regular, said "i don't know about that one..let me call the floor" The floor ruled against me, making my hand dead, and leaving me with 200 chips and the old man scooped the pot on a ****in technicality.Needless to say i was a little pissed off. I questioned the call, seeing as how he verbally surrendered his hand, and made motions to muck the hand..etc...of course the house was with their regular...a little later, one of the guy's at my table came by to me while i was in the cash game, and agreed that i was screwed over...etc..Needless to say...i guess i learned a lesson. Don't **** with grandpa...2 days later this same guy was involved in a pot on the 4/8 table against a younger kid at the table. The pot was nearing 200 bucks or so and the kid bet out the river...grandpa called. Kid flashed his hand to me, then went to show it down. when he was dropping his cards at the table to show down..it hit the dealers hand, and landed face down. The old man tried to pull the same shit saying the kid mucked his hand since he didnt put em in the middle face up to show down. I about blew up at the guy, as did the kid...the floor ruled for the kid on this one.

NicksDad1970 0
I was in a tourney at the Grand and I was a monster chip leader with about 20 left.I bet enough to put the next guy all-in. He called with a flop of 6-6-A. I think I had a weak A. He called and I noticed the next guy was about to put his chips in when the guy turns over 6-6 for 4 of a kind. Needless to say the next guy ended up not putting his chips in. I was not about to declare this guys hand dead or try to I mean. Anyway, someone else was pissing and moaning so the floor was called. the floors ruling was a warning and if he did it again he'd get a 10 minute time out.Maybe karma was on my side. I still won it after I tried to bully the nuts
Simpleton 0
So wait, you showed your hand, he says take it and you still lost. Does not make sense. Did the dealer see the cards? Did you not read the thread about the guy in the New York poker room? Always show your cards unless its folded to you. Why do so many people make this mistake? Be patient and take your time with your cards.

Be patient and take your time with your cards.I don't think you understand what he said. The guy was about to muck and the OP showed his ace to the guy BUT the guy never folded. So the ruling was that the OP showed his hand which is illegal in touranment play and the pot was awarded to the old guy because he never officially folded his cards. Get it? ThatPkrGuy 0
Now i'm sure its not the nicest thing to do and it was only a poker tournament but Grandpa would be getting an ass beating in the parking lot.I know i know respect your elders. But the old man has it comming. What can i say i'm a violent man if you censor me over.
AceyDucey 0
River card came that gave me the nut hand.Guy checked to me. I pushed all in.Checker then said, "nice hand, take it" and reached for his cards to muck. as he did this i flashed my Ace to show him i had hit the nut hand, and sat my hand down right across the line. The guy then said, "Im not folding!!" and pulled his hand in. Dealer kinda looked dumbfounded...and i asked wtf...Old guy sitting next to both of us, that was a friend of the villain here, said, "his hand is dead! he flashed his card!" thats when the dealer started to agree and i raised hell being that the action was OVER!Floor was called and he asked the dealer what happened. Dealer said, "i don't know i didnt see or hear anything!!" This pissed me off too. floor then said, since i showed my hand before dealer declared action to be complete, that my hand was dead and the old man gets the pot.so i was tossed back 200 chips of what the guy couldn't cover..and he was pushed the entire pot without having to show a hand.I was about to flip the ****in table over...but i just sat it out, threw my last 3 chips to the dealer and told him to go **** himself...and left..I think the only reason this guy was pushed the pot is because he was a local who everyone knew there that plays in these tournaments religiously, and i was the tourist. They were not going to side against him, since who gives a shit about the guy who comes once a year and plays in their room.
AceyDucey 0
Is this an accepted rule in B&M casino Tournaments? That an exposed hand is ruled dead?I always thought you could flip your cards up regardless, if the action was down to heads up.Oh..next night i played in the tournament again...I knocked this same guy out on the final table...when i rivered Quad Queens. he had a full house and went all in...i called it, dealer called for the show down...he flipped up his boat..and i slow rolled my quads, telling him..i had 2 pair........OF QUEENS!...he was slightly pissed...haha..so i felt a little better. Simpleton 0
You got screwed buddy, you are allowed to show your cards if you want to if the other guy fold. You got screwed and I agree, beat his ass in the parking lot, maybe not after the tourney, but definately after the live game.
pokerplayer24 0
Even if your hand is declared dead your uncalled bet should still be given back to you. In other words your entire river all in.Basically dude just sounds like an *******. You get a lot of real anal old guys at casinos who try to fuck you over on technicalities. AceyDucey 0
Even if your hand is declared dead your uncalled bet should still be given back to you. This is kinda what i thought too.Did not make sense that he could take my all in bet, see'ing as he did not call the bet.Oh well, F'it..just water under the bridge now, and i made the 100 back playing 4/8 after i busted out...but could you imagine if this shit happened at the WSOP Main event...where you'd loose 10k on a technicality....would this ever happen at a major buy in event? KingAustin 0
Why would you want to show the old guy your hand anyway? Unless you were planning to pull out a major bluff sometime, showing your hand isn't very wise. You want to keep them guessing.

Unless you were planning to pull out a major bluff sometime, showing your hand isn't very wise. You want to keep them guessing. This is the million dollar question. I usually don't show hands that aren't called down. I dunno why i decided to do it here, i guess i just got caught up in the excitement of winning a big hand. Rookie play by me, which kinda left me kicking myself for even being in the situation for the house to make a bad decision against me.

NOFX_PUNK 0
I hate to say it and I didn't pay that much attention reading down the replies, but it soudns like fiesty grandpa might have been setting u up for this from the start, similarly with the kid in the NYC card room, if you're inexperienced or not expecting it a lot of those old guys will try to bully you on technicalities, it's a gamble on their behalf as you may not make a mistake, however, if they notice as quickly as they do that u have made the mistake it sounds awfully like they were waiting for it to happen? I say Beat his ass with a sock full of $100 chips! lol
