OK, so I'm trying to learn how to play some games other than NLHE so I've been trying my hand at Omaha and 7-stud. Although on this Omaha hand to follow I would think that I would play my 9h to complete the flush and give me the winning hand. Can someone please explain why PP played my 88 to give me 2 pair with the board and not the 9h to give me the flush? Is this mistake common, or is it not a mistake as far as the game is concerned. ThanksAlWTF???!!!
It's a conspiracy. Online games are rigged. I'm sure, by now, you realize that you didn't have a flush, but it's still a conspiracy.

When you PM him be sure to include Omaha instructions....maybe the dumbest post ever on this forum. Step 1 read a book.Step 2 reread the bookStep 3 go back to NLHMor lose your bankroll boefore you blink

CalebDid anyone notice that the word "paid" is misspelled in this thread's subject line? Or was it so blatant that even Captain Obvious kept his mouth shut?Matt

Hey Al,I'd be happy to give you some advice.  I have cashed in two Omaha Hi-Lo events and one Stud event in the past five years.  I'm looking for someone to mentor and I'm willing to talk it over with you.  My only price is the big toe from the right foot of your first born son.  No questions asked.Speedz
Not to hijack the thread but that reminds me of my favorite lawyer joke.Devil to lawyer at bar: "I can grant all your earthly desires - money, power, women... whatever you want. Matt,I noticed it when I first saw the thread, but kept my mouth shut in fear of getting a response similar to the following: "If you can understand what Im saying than it doesnt mater how i right it. DUMBAZZ!!!111!!eleven!!" Caleb

heh...I deserve most of this cause not having a full understanding of the rules of any game is a dumb move, but I'll explain a little just for the hell of it.I was playing at the $200 buy in game and had just won three hands in a row with my minimal understanding of the game and had worked my way up to the $270 listed in the HH. I left the table a few hands later with $190.I played the hand because of winning the previous three and because calling the $2 from UTG with that hand (albeit a stupid move) didn't mean that much to me...I basically looked at it as pocket 8's and was chasing a set.As Alf mentioned, yes I've played in a couple of majors and held my own, but NLHE is the only poker game I ever tried to learn. I've always been a recreational gambler until I started taking up NLHE because of the poker boom. I'd like to learn the others so I guess I'm going to have to crack open my SSII and read some of those other games. It's too bad I'm stubborn.

If anyone here has cashed in a WSOP 7-card Stud or Omaha event, I'd love some beginners advice if you've got the time. Thanks!Al
you only want advice from people who have cashed in a wsop tourney...how about all those people who dont bother to play tourneys and make a living playing these games???
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there aren't too many of those type of players you mention trolling a fan style forum site. However there's plenty of amateurs who have played the games and tourny's long enough to have cashed in a major tournament. Not to mention that to the cash players here in Los Angeles at Commerce Casino, the "lifers" consider those to be dead games. The same players every day just pushing money back and forth between them with no new, dead money to be found. But why argue the semantics?
Because you just said you only want advice on playing Stud and Omaha from people who have cashed in a WSOP event. You have just insulted everyone who responded to your post who does not have those credentials by implying they have absolutely nothing to teach you. And this is after you didn't even know that you had to use two of your hole cards in Omaha! I have never played a hand of Omaha and I knew that.

Good one.Why do you bury lawyers 10 ft deep?Because deep down they are really good.

 wow what i dont believe is the arrogance of you so called veteran poker players towards us NEWBIES.. donks,fish,etc..etc..first of all i have seen many a great player ..doyle brunson, gus hansen, to name two..play so called bad hands only to win large and win tourneys, championship titles..blah blah blah...so ..why is itwhen most of these so called top level semi pros or whatever you all call yourself ..and we win with a flush or straight bought down to the river and you all get pissed of cause who would call or raise with such a hand..i dont get it.. i think you should all be happy to play amongst player s like those ,them,us..whoever so as to win more money, practice your skill and just generally have a good all around time. i played omaha for a bit ..couldnt understand why i didnt win the pot when i had ace high flush..but after some researching i FOUND out i had to played two of my hole cards... :? so ..play nice ..win large and god bless :-)
