Craftsy21 0
not quite as impressive as Harrington's back to back final tables in the new age of poker... but i sitll respect Raymer a lot as a poker player, and if nothing else, he seems like a really genuine guy who has represented the game well over the past year. Jelly-Filled Ace 1
I would buy his book just for the KFC coupon inserts. ok I like raymer a lot and think most of the haters are idiots.but this made me laugh....although he looks like a wendys guy to me.hehe Cane, I've kept out of the Raymer weight issues, cuz truth be known, 2 years ago I was close to his equal in weight without his height.short version, I got diabetes and so forth - since then I've lost 110 lbs and I still have a ways to go yet.I never asked for any pity or sympathy during my abusive years. In the words of Knish "You did it to yourself".I KNOW how it feels to be fat, I know how people treat the obese when it's not their problem. We are easy targets, we can't defend it, we just gulp down more aggression OR make the life-style changes. Sure gastric bypasses and pills and whatnot are reasonable starters for some, it still comes down to rock-steady discipline. For me, I will forever have to measure, count, label-read and plan my daily intakes, but it's well worth it, the change is great.Yes, I could tear into a 8 pc. KFC with all the fixins and love the hell out of it, but I just can't anymore. I have to win this battle and I'm winning so far.Greg Raymer will never be a man I will hate, least of all over his weight. He's by far the class of what's right in poker and I doubt he'll ever lose that respect in my book.I more or less laugh with him than at him. Maybe it bothers other people more than it bothers him, but I hated being fat and that's the only person I needed to worry about.Peace.

GWCGWC 83
Hey funk,Your sig on Party isn't PFunk7 from silversprings is it.It can't be. If it is, well, you got very lucky this afternoon in a couple of pots with me.Nope...Not me, sorry sir-P.Whew, I'd hate to think a fellow FCP'er would make such donkey calls. :-) And FWIW,Raymer is a very good poker player. He was/is a repected strat poster on 2+2, so much so, that he gained the support of backers. He won a couple of largish touney's at foxwoods well before the WSOP ME.Raymer haters usually lump him into the Varconni(sp) and Moneymaker crowd. This couldn't be any further from the truth. Valuecall 0
I thought I saw him mention he was eventually planning to write one...but I may just be mistaken. No one else on this thread seems to have heard it, so I'm probably wrong.I saw that he was hawking instructional DVDs in a joint venture with other pros, so there's one source for info if you want it.As for tourney strategy, reading the Dan Harrington books is a MUST. You may certainly deviate from his playing style, but the books introduce some really helpful concepts and are very worth reading IMHO.
