alf13 0
Okay...first of all...this is not a joke. This is a serious tells question I have to ask...and I need your input on what you think.I play in a Home game where we are all friends but we take the game very seriously...We play SNG's and we play for money and we have a point system where the winner at the end of the year gets a trophy and cash....We joke and we have a good time....But here is the thing....Sometimes a big pot develops and all of the sudden the room gets quiet....My opponent in the hand might make a large raise after I lead out on the turn with top two pair and this pot means alot...it could mean the difference between winning and losing this sng....I can only fold if I believe him or raise allin because I would be too committed to fold on the river if I call. Here is where the tell comes in......Sometimes my opponent will let out a loud fart when the room is quiet and I am contemplating a call.....I have never thought of it much before...but it has now become a pattern....it has happened like three home games in a row and always in this same situation....Problem is that there is no pattern so far...I folded once...(never saw his hand (I had TPTK)....called once with bottom set (He had one pair)....and called with two pair (he had a straight)....I also observed him doing the dsame thing when he was on a stone cold bluff. There is no pattern here....What is the most likely explanation for the intentional release of flatulance at a crucial juncture of an sng in the middle of a big pot? The room usually laughs and the moment lightens up.....But I am convinced their is more to it....is he releasing tension? What are your thoughts?BTW...I have also blasted before in this home game...but I have never done this during a hand....Again...what are your thoughts?...and this is a serious question...not a joke....is this a likely "I am weak" I am releasing tension" Tell? Ron_Mexico 4,219
There is no way this isn't a joke. Only you would know the answer. You know him, it's only happened three times or so and you didn't see his hand one time. Who is he Mr Methane? Impossible question to answer. What are the stakes and why aren't I invited? PrickI am asking what is most likely.Fart: relaxed...he is comfortable....= BIG HAND.Fart: He is a little stressed.....let me fart...people will laugh....it will cover up my bluff.BTW...the stakes are $50 sng's....6 handed...winner take all...2nd place gets buyin back....Sometimes people are broke...and we play $20 sng's.....We play half a dozen or so a night....and it is not my Home game...so I can't invite you.....But when I finish moving into my new home...(January or so...)I will build the mother of all poker rooms and I will invite all of my fcp SO Fla bro's. jack24bauer24 0
If after he farts he sticks his fingers in to his ass crack, then smells them, it means he's nervous and he's bluffing. If he doesn't, he's strong and has a hand.

No biggie. Sounds about right with the stakes. Why only six handed?
Swift_Psycho 1
BTW...the stakes are $50 sng's....6 handed...winner take all...2nd place gets buyin back....So...it's not really winner-take-all then.

curq 0
Depends on the texture of the fart.... farts that are bubbly and come out as a series of consecutive concussion shots will usually indicate weakness as his sphincter repeatedly flinches due to being nervous... A loud booming fart is the sound of a man comfortable with his bet and just trying to lighten the mood.-curqPh.D Fartology

TheWynn 0
I know that when some people get nervous they have to take craps and usually that is when the farts come in to play. But that wouldnt tell you if it was a bluff or not. Sorry I couldnt be of any help.

Especially if people are drinking. There is probably more of a correlation between the number of beers he has had and his farting patterns then that between his cards and his farts.Maybe if he blinks three times instead of two while putting his chips in the pot you'll know he's bluffing.Ridiculous.If only I could get people in my homegame to pay me off just by farting.
