only a white person would say racism is subtle in this country.kanye said it in that forum because he knew he would be heard by people that otherwise wouldnt be listening to wat he has to say. mainly white majority.
Most racism is overt. Dangerous racism is subtle.Look, I'd consider backing off me. If you want to dance on this issue, we can. I just have a sneaking suspicion that we're on the same side.Kanye West has a right to speak his mind. He might be right. But I think he hurt a lot of people he was trying to help with his comments.Ice

sociology lesson #1minorities can't be ra cist tard.they can be prejudice but not censored.since when can a minority group oppess a majority race?and since ur obviously white or if not, a minority that has tried hard to assimilate with white society you would never understand what it is to be a sell out or to stay true to who you are.
ohmygod. Now you are really scaring me.Basic definitions of words Lesson #1:ra-cist prejudiced against all people who belong to other racesbased on prejudices and stereotypes related to racesomebody who hates others who are not of his or her own raceSomeone white calling someone black a derogatory name = Someone black calling someone white a derogatory name. It's the same thing....omfg I can't believe I have to explain this.
Actually he is not wrong. Sociology classes often adopt different definitions of racism, often based on claims that traditional dictionaries themselves have racist roots.Back in the day, the definition of racism offered in my class was:racism= a system of advantage based on race.If you accept this definition, it must follow (thru laws of logic) that only people belonging to the advantaged race can be racist. It just depends on what your working definition of racism is.
I suppose you are one of the educated elite that thought child molesters should not be in jail.
How do you figure?

It's always a friendly forum, where the moderator tells you should be shot. You are a very friendly moderator that we should all be looking up too.

The problem was :New Orleans and the Govt failed to realize the effect of levee breaches to the search and rescue effort. If New Orleans had a plan in case of levee breaches to the city, the Govt would have responded faster. The city was under water in a matter of 2 days. No Trucks or life saving equipment could get into the city quick enough. Now hopefully we have learned from this tragedy how to deal with flooding in citys below sea level. You are very ignorant in thinking the leader of the free world would sit back and watch innocent people dying because he didnt like there skin color.
Just thought I'd post an article from today's LA times:"Despite Warnings, Washington Failed to Fund Levee ProjectsTo cut spending, officials gambled that the worst-case scenario would not come to be.By Richard A Serrano and Nicole Gaouette (Times Staff Writers)WASHINGTON-- For years, Washington had been warned that doom lurked just beyond the levees. And for years, the White House and Congress has dickered over how much money to put into shoring up century-old dikes and carrying out newer flood control projects to protect the city of New Orleans. As recently as three months ago, the alarms were sounding-- and being brushed aside. In late May, the New Orleans district of the Army Corps of Engineers formally notified Washington that hurricane storm surges could knock out two of the big pumping stations that must operate night and day even under normal conditions to keep the city dry. Also, the Corps said, several levees had settled and would soon need to be raised. And it reminded Washington that an ambitous flood-control study proposed four years before remained just that-- a written proposal never put into action for lack of funding..."Here's the whole thing, it's a good read. It's not as one sided as it appears in the beginning, and it also puts some heat on the New Orleans Corps of Engineers.http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/na...=la-home-nation

Hope no one has posted this already:http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/e...outlook/3335758FEMA ranked hurricane scenario highly likely in '01By ERIC BERGEREditor's note: This article was originally published on Dec. 1, 2001, in the Houston Chronicle. Because of its relevance to the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, it is being republished.New Orleans is sinking. And its main buffer from a hurricane, the protective Mississippi River delta, is quickly eroding away, leaving the historic city perilously close to disaster. So vulnerable, in fact, that earlier this year the Federal Emergency Management Agency ranked the potential damage to New Orleans as among the three likeliest, most catastrophic disasters facing this country. The other two? A massive earthquake in San Francisco, and, almost prophetically, a terrorist attack on New York City. The New Orleans hurricane scenario may be the deadliest of all.In the face of an approaching storm, scientists say, the city's less-than-adequate evacuation routes would strand 250,000 people or more, and probably kill one of 10 left behind as the city drowned under 20 feet of water. Thousands of refugees could land in Houston.Economically, the toll would be shattering.Southern Louisiana produces one-third of the country's seafood, one-fifth of its oil and one-quarter of its natural gas. The city's tourism, lifeblood of the French Quarter, would cease to exist. The Big Easy might never recover. And, given New Orleans' precarious perch, some academics wonder if it should be rebuilt at all. It's been 36 years since Hurricane Betsy buried New Orleans 8 feet deep. Since then a deteriorating ecosystem and increased development have left the city in an ever more precarious position. Yet the problem went unaddressed for decades by a laissez-faire government, experts said."To some extent, I think we've been lulled to sleep," said Marc Levitan, director of Louisiana State University's hurricane center.Hurricane season ended Friday, and for the second straight year no hurricanes hit the United States. But the season nonetheless continued a long-term trend of more active seasons, forecasters said. Tropical Storm Allison became this country's most destructive tropical storm ever....The only solution, scientists, politicians and other Louisiana officials agree, is to take large-scale steps to minimize the risks, such as rebuilding the protective delta.A consortium of local, state and federal agencies is studying a $2 billion to $3 billion plan to divert sediment from the Mississippi River back into the delta. Because the river is leveed all the way to the Gulf, where sediment is dumped into deep water, nothing is left to replenish the receding delta. Other possible projects include restoration of barrier reefs and perhaps a large gate to prevent Lake Pontchartrain from overflowing and drowning the city. All are multibillion-dollar projects. A plan to restore the Florida Everglades attracted $4 billion in federal funding, but the state had to match it dollar for dollar. In Louisiana, so far, there's only been a willingness to match 15 or 25 cents."Our state still looks for a 100 percent federal bailout, but that's just not going to happen," said University of New Orleans geologist Shea Penland, a delta expert."We have an image and credibility problem. We have to convince our country that they need to take us seriously, that they can trust us to do a science-based restoration program."

Technically Kayne should have said The US Governments doesn't care about New Orlean's Impoverished Black Community but he seemed nervous since he was speaking from his heart. p.s. He could have also pointed his finger at Louisannas State Government as well. Imho

Jay Webb had the best post in the thread...end of story...he should lock the thread with him having the last word....that would make my day.
About it all being annoying and what not, maybe. But the statement "they get into college easier" is utterly absurd, for a great many reasons.

Actually, Kanye was clearly drunk while he was saying this. No doubts about that one folks. I guess I'm the only smart one, but I did first see this while high and drunk. Also, check out the look Mike Myers gives him at the end. He's like "Kanye, you can't fucking say that, what are you doing?"

I dunno if this was stated earlier or not, but here is a link of what rapper Kanye West did recently. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/n...en_nm/west_dc_3I have tremdenous amounts of respect for the guy after this. Risking his career and everything to get the truth out. He definitly deserves a lot of credit after doing this. Tremendous amounts of guts.
Risking his career? LOL. Hell, he made that statement to gain street cred and becuase he is a biggoted *******. He has leftwingers, socialists like yourself, and the MSM patting his back 24?7, not to mention the Hollywood crowd. Once more he made the comments to help his career, I personally hope it backfires because he is lower than scum for exploiting a huge tragedy to better his career and state his racist( actully black supremest views). As for you you are just a simple minded pawn.

Actually, Kanye is only half right. It gets much much worse ... not only is President Bush ordering the military to shoot black people, and not only was help delayed because of New Orleans' large black population, but President Bush was personally responsible for the formation of the hurricane itself. He also steered the hurricane on the track it took, not wanting it to hit Florida where it might damage the home of either his brother Jeb, or Rush Limbaugh, both rich, white republicans. If only Bush wasn't so obsessed with hatred for black people, maybe he would've used this tremendous power to form a hurricane and use it on our real enemies ... the French.*cough cough*Now ... back to reality ...
LMFO, sadly there are actual elected polititions who are blaming Bush for the actual hurricaine. Unbelievable!!
