I just wrote this same exact response after looking at the original post. Then I figured I should go back throught the thread to make sure I wasn't being redundant. Turns out you beat me to the punch.

this is ridiculous you are 18! start having sex. start drinkng alcohol. once you add those into your life they will think you are a man and let you gamble. other than that, like many have said on the thread, sneak the fukc out and play. i have friends that went to turningstone under age, their parents werent aware, how hard is it to lie to them? Just sucks when you lie your ass off to go, take a beat playing the 1-2nl max 100 inevitably take a few beats, rebuy twice , lose 300 and go home pissed. Anyways, Turningstone has some pretty soft seats there, play tight, wait for sets overbet huge and get callers, what a great game. So back to the main points, have sex, drink alcohol, and then go gamble. Your parents will be much more pissed about the first 2 and they will let casino trips slide.

to the OP: you're kind of stuck between a rock & a hard place. you are not going to be able to change the way your parents feel, but at the same time if you go behind their back (which it sounds like you plan on doing), you run the risk of getting caught....what do you think your parents are going to do when they catch you? from the sounds of it, they're the type of people that will kick you out of their house for doing something they EXPRESSLY forbid. are you prepared for that? i didn't start playing online or B&M poker until near the end of college, when i had a steady income & was living on my own. not that my parents would have looked negatively upon it (my dad took me to vegas for my 21st), but that's just the timing of things. point is, when you can afford to move out & take care of yourself completely, then you won't have to worry about your parents hassling you over playing cards (you also won't have to talk to them about winning/losing). that type of situation might be a while down the road...but in the meantime, you could read up, improve your game, find some friends to play home games, watch celebrity poker (sw)....

Yes, they'll tell you gambling is bad right before they go gamble away all their money at pusoy or something.

Grow up and move out if you dont like your parents concerns. SIMPLE AS THAT! Then when you have kids you can go through this same b.s. thinking you know what is best for your kids. Now go eat cause momma got dinner on the table.
