Hello. I was just wondering what it is like to live in Las Vegas?I am from Juneau Alaska (Born and visit every summer) but lived in Erie Pennsylvania. I finished school at Tri-State Business Institute with a Degree in Networking. I work now as a Systems Analyst just to fill you in with a little about me. My wife will be finishing Pharmacy School in one more year and mentioned that she could get a nice job in Las Vegas as a Pharmacist; but we have never thought about moving there until now. I have been there only once, but I had a great time. I want to get into some of the tournaments (or just have fun playing poker as hobby) if we decided to move there. I'm not sure how the living situation is in LV, so anyone living there now and could fill me in with your own oppinion about what it's like would be greatly appreciated (DN or anyone who just live's there playing poker for work or fun). Thanks,Michael Shakes

I lived in Vegas for 3 yrs and moved back to Denver 8 yrs ago. I really liked it there, the weather is great for 9 months of the year, everything is open all the time. So when our oven broke on Thanksgiving we just went to the Orleans for mexican food. :club: One thing about living there though is that you dont spend as much time at the casino's as you might think, at least we didnt, kids and work and all. I never went to the strip unless we had visitor's in town. You will also get to know how to worked the comps all over town.

I don't live there, but I have been to both places. From what I see is you can get alot of things for free, it has better weather, and you can do alot more than in Erie. Although the summers are hot, unlike on the east coast it is far less humid there so it doesn't feel that bad. However, prepare to have your A/C going for several months straight. Some other pluses are it is the fastest growing community on the planet, creating many jobs and good school, and there is alot of good food and there is something to do at any time of the day.

Been to Vegas many times and have some friends that live there. If you and the wife have no kids I say go for it. if you have kids I'd think twice the schools are way over crowded due to the influx of people and the infrastructure in Vegas is less than Par for a town that brings in the Billions that it does..

Okay, so you actaully have it planned out. Good for you. Man, in 6 years, won't they have something like 30,000 people moving there per month :club:

I don't live there, but have done a few searches on Vegas & living there.Home prices, etc. I recommend you do the same.I have been there a few times. It's fantastic. Entertainment, Gambling, Golf, Shopping, Strippers, Food. Among many other things are all top notch. As family oriented as it may be now, It's still Sin City. But I assume if you can stand the Summers you'd like it there.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. We don't mind the heat, or the free stuff. And no kids yet.Tell me more.I would like to move somewhere close to Vegas/Reno, is there a big difference in cost of living? How much do you pay Daniel? You live on the Strip?
