You can't play stud 9 handed. 7 cards times 9 players would require a deck with 63 cards in it. 8 handed is still 4 cards short if you everyone stays in until the end. In that case 6th street is dealt face up as a community card.It rarely is an issue 8 handed, but 9 handed the deck would be running out all the time.

7th street is dealt face up not 6th;8 Players * 6 streets = 48 cards, so there is enough for 8 players to get 6 and then 7th street is a community card

^^ This. It's called player of the year ... not player of the ME. There will always be twekaing involved in any system, but the players knew what it was all about before they went in so none of them or any of us should be angry because we think that someone should have gotten the POY title and didn't.
