Just so I have things straight, the Bush bashing is ok, but anything less than calling Obama a saint is forbidden?
Technically, we have an 8-year record for Bush and nothing to yet objectively critisize Obama for.

I don't like that he's a smoker.

All I will say is, as a Conservative, I treat Obama as my President. He will be my President for at least four years, and maybe eight. Unlike my other Republican friends, I do not wish him to do bad as President as I care for my country before anything else. The problem with the anti-Bush crowd is that they say he was not their President. He has been so demonized that it makes me sick.I thought one of the most amazing and moving parts of the entire day was when Bush got onto the helicopter, and Joe Biden saluted him as he left. It was a truly humbling moment as he saluted the man so many people disdane. I will make one other point before I am flamed. I watched around six hours of the coverage and kept hearing that we can all now finally become one and make things happen. Why is this not the case when a Republican wins? Why can't America unite with a Republican leader?Best of luck to Obama and his supporters, and thank you George Bush for your service.

Was anyone else expecting to hear gunshots during the whole thing? Not that I would want him shot, I'm def an obama supporter, just seemed like it would be inevitable a crazy redneck, or a crack addict for money would have attempted it.

Until the economy turns around, around a forum full of superstitious gamblers?I'd have to hedge my bets and say "yes". It's way too early anyways, he hasn't even interacted with foreign countries in presidential capacity anyways, and that's gonna be a key point of conversation where people are finally going to waver.

Very true. No matter what you feel about Bush, you have to agree that being President, period, is an incredibly difficult, stressful job.. And these last 8 years would have been an incredibly trying time to be president for ANYONE. Talk about waltzing into a complete jackpot. Some of it his own doing, most of it was sliding downhill and gaining speed before he even sat in the chair for the first time, however.

These are usually the least likely people to be able to pull something like that off, it takes a little thought.

nopeI <3 you and your jacket, but i pray that my kids won't grow up being taught that the election of a president based on the color of his skin and a platform of "hope" by a nation who doesn't actually know what he stands for ranks anywhere close to things like the signing of the declaration, the emancipation proclamation, the landing of a man on the moon, the fall of nazi germany, etc.edit: i do wish him all the best and i hope with all my heart that he proves me wrong. God bless America either way.
God I hate when people talk like this its so obvious you don't understand why his "skin color" is important. I am white and I remember the sickness I felt in my own lifetime when there was segregation. In my lifetime! Black people were not allowed to eat in MY RESTURANT in my lifetime! you obviously cant see this and why it is such a big deal when there are people and people with parents who were alive in the 60's when racism meant that people couldnt use the same restroom as other people. To you its no big deal because your ignorant of what people went through IN OUR LIFETIMES!
It's a minor detail, but I'm looking forward to having an articulate president, who doesn't create words mid-speech.OBAMA!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CELLLLLLLEBRATE GOOD OBAMA CMON!!! It's Obama-bama...-beaverstyle (grand rapids)
This is so huge its stupid. I am not even democrat but I've been saying this for years when I look at the speeches and letters of Jefferson and his kind I used to literally get sick at how stupid our presidents sounded when they spoke or wrote.
It's an exciting, historic day.
people use the word "historic" too much today. It became stupid and cliche and it's silly that you used it.
Imagine this if you will...A great baseball team ever is assembled...with the most popular players in history all brought together as one team. The people vote them all in and they are felt and revered as the greatest team ever!!!! NO SHIT!!!!problem is...the season has not even started yet, but it does not matter. The fans insist that this new and wonderful team has all but already won the World Series! "Lets just award the trophy and give them a parade before the season even starts!!!"Poor Obama...imagine being the guy that now has to try to live up to all this hype?
I bet that when bush was president you never showed any skepticism ever. I bet you rationalized a bunch of stupid ass monkey talking shit he did. I think this attitude is so silly when people defend dumb people and then act all rational when being skeptical about smart people and act like they are just being reasonable. so silly.Bush was stupid, if you dont see that than you are stupid too.sorry for the long post but I've been brewing about all the stupid bipartisan people and stuff for awhile now.

If you read the OP, this isn't supposed to turn into a thread to debate...just a thread to celebrate. So please respect the OP, and just celebrate.
If they were not trying to debate they should not have started making all of those stupid "party obvious" comments but ok I'll back off of them for now. I'll use my poli sci degree with a minor in philosophy elsewhere. lol
